Hey everyone, it's Charlotte Dobre here, and today we're going to be talking about entitled people. You know the type - those individuals who think that the world owes them something, who demand special treatment and believe that rules don't apply to them.
In this video, we're going to delve into the psychology of entitled people, exploring why they act the way they do and what makes them think that they're above everyone else. We'll also be sharing some stories and examples of entitled behavior, both in real life and on social media.
From the entitled Karen who demands to speak to the manager over the slightest inconvenience, to the entitled influencer who thinks they deserve freebies just because of their follower count, we'll be taking a closer look at the various forms that entitlement can take.
But it's not all doom and gloom - we'll also be discussing ways to deal with entitled people, whether you're dealing with them in your personal life or in a customer service or work setting. What Uber driver lets you vape? I'm pretty sure Uber as a company doesn't allow it
to be fair, she did ask if she could vape, but, instead of just politely obliging to the Uber driver's request, she threw a hissy fit when he said no and kept pressing. no is no, lady, just drop it!
"Other Uber drivers would've just let me vape", ive heard variations of this at my job as a box office person in the movie theatre. when ppl say "Well, they always let me do [insert action that you state is clearly against protocol] before!", a majority of the time theyre lying, i'm just telling ya straight-up. this chick saying other Uber drivers let her vape was probably a lie, or maybe once in a blue moon the driver did say yes, but maybe they requested for her to roll down the window or something. i believe though that normally, in a professional driving job like Uber and such, the driver could get in trouble if they allowed their passengers to drink, smoke/vape and/or do drugs in their vehicle...so, if i heard correctly, then shes likely just lying and no driver let her vape before.
She was so fast to take back that cup of coffee with an “ ok” that as a former barista I guarantee that there was a lot more asshattery by that woman happening before she was handed her coffee.
Yep, end the conversation. Stops the customer from escalating any gripes into a full blown fight. No one needs that in their day. Wonder where she found a mug, or if she went without her caffeine?
She honestly could have just brought her own mug and asked the barista make it in there. I know I wouldn't have had a problem with that. (would have even saved her 10 cents or whatever it is now when you use your own cup at starbucks) Also am not sure why she was so upset about the plastic cup (wasn't even paper) as when they take your order they literally pick up the cup right in front of you to put the code for the drink on it.

Okay, gotta tell my tip story. Many, many, many moons ago I waited tables at a local restaurant. On a Sunday morning I was the only waitress that had shown for shift. This meant that I had an entire inside dinning room, plus a patio to maintain, by myself! Now, granted, the assistant store manager did help when she could, however the kitchen was also short staffed that day, so it was all around madness. A large portion of our customer base were regulars, and most were incredibly understanding of the situation. However, I had this one table…the man had snapped his fingers at me, slammed a cup on the table, when I hadn’t gotten there quick enough to refill it, and had been an overall asshat. He left 11 cents on the table as my tip. I caught him at the door as he was leaving, I handed him the 11 cents, and said “if you couldn’t see that I’m literally the only waitress here, and that I’m having to handling 26 tables on my own, that all you could muster was 11 cents…you need it more than I do. Perhaps you can buy some common sense with it.”
I have similar story working for BWW. I did in high school and couple years later they were building one in my college town and the area manager asked me to work there to help them open. I was full time college student and had amazing parents who didn’t make me work while going to college if I didn’t want to but I did odd jobs here and there for extra money and said yes to 6 months.
I was around 19 when I busted my butt for a huge family for a college graduation party. Dad paid for family and aunts and uncles etc. I ran my bottom off and gave up 2 tables so I could keep servicing their drinking and had a few other larger parties. I gave them great service, zero reason for any complaints and when I brought the check he tipped me less than a dollar on a $400+ tab. He paid in cash and told me to keep the change for me. I put the 11 cent change in the ticket holder to take back to see if he may of made a mistake and as I walked up he said I told you keep the change for your tip. I said 11 cent tip? He said yes thank you for tonight. I sat the 11 cent down and said I think he needs it more than me. He got offended and asked to speak to manager. I said I’ll go get him for you, the big boss/area manager is here tonight. Told the big boss what was up and walked behind him as he approached the bad tipper who said I should be grateful and not try to embarrass him and that he will never eat here again. My manager said that sounds like a great plan that you don’t come back since you don’t take care of my waitresses that take care of you.

I’ll add there was no automatic gratuity… we had a rule 8 or more could be added or not. It really came to judgment call on waitress and I found I got more money when I told the customers we normally do but I didn’t add it.

This world has gotten nuts and I’m old. I went to the store a couple days ago and asked customer service a question. The answer was no. I said thank you. Have a terrific day. The poor kid behind the counter expected, literally expected, me to flip out because I’m an older woman. I felt so so bad for her
Have had similar experiences. Rules are rules, and I'm not here to make employees miserable for following their store policy that they didn't make but could get fired for breaking. And shame on the people who are!
Vape chick was kind of insane because she was talking about how she had anxiety issues and yet she didn't have any anxiety about arguing with the driver.

Anxiety can absolutely manifest as entitled rage. It's not an excuse but it can happen.

I’m tired of people tailgating when driving so I got a bumper sticker that says “the closer you get the slower i drive” it’s worked for the most part 😂😂😂😂
Once I saw a sticker that said something like "don't park too close or else my kids will ding your car"
Under certain circumstances I support tailgating as a form of communication. I go crazy when on a two lane street , someone in the "fast lane" drives blatantly under the speed limit and the right lane is completely free. People should not be passing slow cars by using the right lane. Since I do not have the slow assholes phone number and knowing that honking one's horn in the USA can result in gun shots, I prefer to do a polite semi-tailgate as an obvious form of communication in these circumstances.

Regarding the person who complained they couldn't load their groceries and was partially parked in another spot, there is one additional issue I saw that wasn't commented about. If you drive a vehicle with a back hatch and want to load things into it, then park correctly in the parking place such as back hatch on the aisle. If you pull through and another car is going to park behind you then you cannot expect them to leave enough space for you to load your vehicle.
Yes!! Her car's ass was in the other parking spot. If the person behind her parked further back, they'd be in the way of the cars driving. so NTA hahah
Also, if you can't back up in that space backwards in one go, park the normal way. I can guarantee minivan took several minutes trying to get in there, holding up the flow of traffic.

I have a back hatch, but I like the front of my car to face out as it’s easier to leave the space. So usually I will find two space so I can drive forward in the backspace and drive forward and park in the front space, facing out).
I have only maybe had one or two instances where I had to move my car forward a couple inches to get to my back hatch to open it.
I feel like if she had left the normal appropriate amount of space and as long as the other person wasn’t over the line she could have still opened it. I have an Escape and I think bc of the height and the angle you don’t need that much space behind you. I still wouldn’t park that way if I had a bunch of stuff to load tho.
I have health issues and do not allow folks to smoke OR vape in my home. My house...my rules. My SIL, who I don't have the best relationship with, showed up (uninvited and unannounced) with a friend that I had never met. This gal proceeded to light up without even asking if we minded. I told her she was welcome to smoke on the covered deck out back. She actually had the nerve to say she doesn't smoke outside. I told her she had two choices. Either smoke out on the deck or don't smoke. She pitched a fit and my SIL took her side. In that case let me introduce you to a 3rd option. You can now leave. Told SIL to take her out of my house and not to ever bring her back. Then, I told SIL that if she couldn't respect my wishes she was welcome to not come back either. SIL called my husband and complained. He backed me up.

The fact that she even asked for permission beforehand shows that she knows that it isn't actually okay to do.
As someone who worked in various types of restaurants from ages 16-21, I can confirm that they are definitely talking about you in the kitchen, then in the parking lot after closing. Most of the time, they're just laughing and making fun of you, but if you're so mean that you make a server cry, I cannot guarantee a clean fork and a roll that hasn't been in Matt's armpit. 🤷♀
I love that it’s specifically Matt’s armpit. No one else has such rank armpits, so Matt is the best person for that particular job 🤣

I was a server from 16-21 also so I am always nice to staff. I was with a friend once that was over the top awful and wouldn’t stop when I asked them to. I said I was going to the bathroom and hunted down my waitress. Apologized and said I ordered the cheeseburger and she has the chicken so please don’t do anything to my food lol. It was that bad. I left a huge tip.
I was a waitress when I was 18 (in 1979) at a Ramada Inn (motel) dining room. The worst customers by far were the "business" women as they didn't tip and there was much snapping of their talons.
My best experience was when a very thin, tired looking gentleman came in on a hot day just wanting ice water. This was back when homeless folks were uncommon. I think this guy had been riding the rails. He was very polite.
I saw him eating crackers that had been left on a table, and it hurt my heart. I asked the cook if there was any food we could give him? Paul was a Christian and choir director at his church. "Classic" Christian, not "republican" christian. He winked and told me to make sure the guy didn't leave because " Ol' Paul's about to make a 3-piece chicken dinner mistake!"
I told the man that our cook just had a room service order that was cancelled and we sure don't want to throw it out, so I'd be happy to bring it to him if he's hungry.
I know some people say this was stealing from the company, but it really was common that people would change their minds, and food was often wasted, and we employees got to eat for free so if we gave our meal to someone who really needed it, what's the difference?
@@It-is-me...Melsie yes, but as a tired, underpaid employee, you take whatever moments of bliss you can. Even if the Karen doesn't know, the employees do and can have a good laugh outta watching said person put a fork full of Matt's armpit sweat into their mouth. Small victories mean everything to someone who's being mistreated.
I can 100% confirm the rumor about Starbucks’ baristas giving decaf to rude customers are true. Used to work there and saw it happen many times
I used to be the one to do it. With a big grin and wonderfully sweet customer service.

@@solesuna Yeah definitely at least decaf isn't dangerous but milk sugar or even swapping decaf for actual coffee can be dangerous. im not rude but I am a diabetic luckily I can taste real sugars and avoid it but stuff like this still worries me, so I avoid ordering coffee anyway.
@@robertgronewold3326 that's not funny, that potentially poisoning people who could have an allergy or intolerance to dairy, and switching sweetener to sugar can hurt someone diabetic who still wants sweetened coffee.
Switching regular for decaff is the only non-dangerous thing I can think of.
Even if someone is rude, don't potentially poison them
@@robertgronewold3326That’s actually really awful. There are dietary restrictions that could make someone really ill. Rude people sucks, but this is way different than decaf vs. caffeinated.
I had to deal with somebody parking in a spot I paid for at the apartment I lived in my senior year of college ('06-'07). My unit was above rental single car garages, and I rented the garage under my bedroom. There was also a space directly in front of the garage door, which was also mine for guests.
This idiot dude who lived downstairs parked in that spot in front of the garage door CONSTANTLY to where I always had to worry whether or not I'd be able to get OUT of my garage. If it wasn't him, it was his buddies.
I politely asked him not to park there more than once. Then I put a sign on the garage door itself saying "DO NOT PARK HERE. This garage is RENTED". They ignored it.
Then, on my birthday, I went out with friends to dinner and handed them my keys because I planned on having too many drinks to safely drive. And then I DID have too many drinks to drive (always plan ahead, kids!).
When we got back to my apartment and went to park in my garage, SURPRISE! Asshole was parked in that spot, blocking me from being able to park in my own fucking garage that I was paying for. AGAIN. So we had to park further down the row in front of my building.
This time it was late enough that when I called the front office, it went to the after hours security line. After hearing the history of this guy downstairs, the guy who answered the phone said he'd take care of it for me.
About 15 minutes later I got a call back. Who took care of it for me? One of the handful of sheriff's officers who also lived in the complex, specifically the one who owned the squad car I always saw parked at the building directly across from mine.
He was SUPER nice (I'm guessing because I was a young college girl), telling me that he had basically just had a Come to Jesus Meeting with the guy downstairs AND his buddies. He told them not only to _move the goddamn car_ but to also STOP PARKING THERE, and if they ever did it again they would be towed and fined $500 (again this was in 2007 so it was even more money back then). Then he gave me a number to call from then on if I ever had a problem not only with the garage, but any security issues at all. Since he lived right across the lot from me, he could keep an eye on that spot all the time and basically look out for any sus activity. I also gave him the make/model/plate of my car so he'd know if it was me.
Wonder of wonders. The idiot downstairs never parked there again, AND I had a direct number to a sheriff's officer right across the parking lot from me which was nice because I lived alone and had night classes several times a week that year that didn't let out until 9:45 so it was usually almost 10:30 by the time I got home.
Fortunately I never needed to call him again, but it was still nice knowing I had help literally seconds away.
I live in Australia, where tipping culture is very different. Tipping is reserved mostly for rare 'above and beyond' service, and even then it comes as a nice surprise when we actually get one. When working in hospitality I received a tip maybe two or three times a year (and that's pretty typical in a small town), but I was paid a living wage so it didn't really matter if I was tipped or not. My colleagues (most anyway) and I still worked hard to make sure customers left happy, and we deemed it a blessing if a customer noticed and cared enough to compliment us on our service. I feel like it's kind of unfair that someone in the same industry overseas depends on the moods and whims of their customers to make a living. Some people will never be pleased no matter how hard you try, and no doubt there are customers who find any excuse not to shell out for a reasonable tip. Customer service can be stressful enough without the added worry that a Karen/Kevin or any sort of a**hole will deprive you of part of your income just because they can.
You are so right and it happens all the time it's supposed to bring in a bad mood then we suffer for it the food service and if they don't feel like typing they will look for any reason not to tip. I live in Texas and we only make $2 an hour as the food server so are tips are all of our money if we don't get tipped we don't get paid
@@raechamblee555 😧 $2 an hour??? I knew it would be less, but I really didn't expect it to be that low. In Australia, the award wage (I don't know if you have this in the US, but it's basically what the employer is legally required to pay you for a certain job) for entry-level adult food and beverage attendants is roughly 7-8 times that, accounting for the difference between the AU and US dollar. All I can say is I hope your customers are nice and that you enjoy your work enough that it's worth the struggle OR I wish you the very best of luck in pursuing your preferred career.
The customer at the coffee shop, when the barista not only took the drink back but took sipped on it, I squeaked emphatically and did the universal emphatic 'yes' arm pump. 😂😂

When the wait staff is too nosy, it's tempting to come up with a horrible story just to make them squirm!
29 years ago, I was part of a support group that met twice a month on Saturdays and most of us went out to lunch together afterwards. I think we freaked out waiters because we were such a sad group they could probably feel our grief.
What we all had in common was that we were parents whose child or children had been abducted by the non-custodial parent and we had no idea where they were. We were working with the police detective who lead our support group to find our children and he was wonderful. This happens more frequently than most people know, and this was before Amber Alerts, so we learned from each other how to get help from law enforcement and we were there for each other because we understood each other's pain.
One time we had our missing child flyers at the table and we were talking about key components that need to be included in the text and photos to make them most effective. When the poor waitress realized what we were all about, she broke down and cried. Then she asked us if it would be okay if she prayed for our kids. We thought that was so sweet of her, and we appreciated her kindness, but we decided after that to keep our serious discussions for the group meetings and not bum people out at restaurants.
Only once did we encounter an idiot. A waiter saw our sad faces and said, "Geez! Who died?" We forgave him though, because he didn't know better. I hope he learned from his gaffe!
I was lucky. My son was missing for a year, but he was found thanks to the flyers and his photo and story being shown during a documentary about Adam Walsh (John Walsh's son, the man who founded "America's Most Wanted").

As a former member of the food industry can I say "Never, ever fuck with the people that handle your food", trust me you'll regret it and spitting in people's food would be polite in comparison to half the stuff that I've witnessed!

basically, don't f with people in the food industry or the medical field. I doubt the doctor would let you die or anything, but I'm pretty sure the nurses are not gonna fluff your pillow, or rush to get you whatever you demand like your some kind of VIP. Treat others how you would like them to treat you, plus another 20%. At the very least, they'll treat you nice, or even better, be willing to go that extra mile for you to make sure you have the best possible experience
@@lauraroeleveld4053 Tips are an american thing and are dumb. In my country, waiters are actually paid, and we pay for our food plus taxes so I'm not gonna tip on top of that. Restaurants should pay their waiters, not the customers.
I remember reading the intro in the anniversary copy of Fight Club and Chuck Palahniuk saying what service workers had told him that they had done to people’s food scarred me for life. Spitting in the food is literally the most civil thing I’ve heard a pissed off server do 😅

Yeah i think its more of the parents fault to not explain to him that what they have is being rich and not everybody has that. Like having money and buying a yacht and having partys on it like bro why not like habe fun with it but you should still teach those under your wings that rarely people can afford smth like that and you should give them respect and nit be a dushbag

@@Ale33810And i'd understand if he went to some bougie ivy league where there's a reasonable expectation that any student you talk to probably comes from money, but dude I went to this guy's university! It's UC Riverside! And while it is a pretty well respected research university/grad school in the pantheon of higher education, it's a commuter school mostly attended by locals. The vast majority of the public education schools here in the district are all title1 (extra gov funding due to low income/poverty). So yeah dude needed a reality check! lol

If a server seriously came up to me to complain in that tone of voice about the size of the tip,
I would have gushed and said Oh, really, please hand me that and I’ll fix it.
I would then proceed to remove the tip altogether.

I tip 15-20 % but how dare she do that. On the rare occasion the service is not up to par, I might tip less. That is my way of saying I was not satisfied with the service. My money, my right. Be thankful you received a tip at all.

To be fair tipping 8% is a pretty crappy thing to do. I get that tipping is ridiculous these days, but if you’re only going to do 8% at a sit down restaurant, maybe don’t go out.

I'm gonna need to know the rules, this can bring a whole new level to people watching. It's just me & my son & one of our favorite games to play is "ways you shouldn't act" or "things not to do" and there's varying degrees like wrong situation, wrong person & the absolutely never category, like when you're in Disneyland you should absolutely never walk around with your titties hanging out the bottom of your tank top. I'm not talking about under boob I'm talking nipples resting lower than their belly button swinging freely under the hem of her tank top then trying to fight security when they bring you a towel & tell you to cover up & you'll need to either buy something to properly cover yourself or be escorted from the park. Bingo would be amazing

02:53 Where the lady parked had no markings, and she parked equally far back as the other cars next to her, the blue markings you see are most likely a marked handicap parking spot, as those tend to be marked with blue markings on the ground just like the ground was next to the lady's car. Cin just didn't bother paying attention to the ground past where she saw the blue marking.
That or a walk through. One of our local grocery stores has lines walk through so people can get through the large parking lot without going between cars.
One night when serving over nights I had two tables, one a couple traveling and the other 4 older gentlemen who were regulars. The couple was super sweet and a joy to serve. The regulars were the same rude, mean and demeaning as always. The regulars had their coffee, soup and crackers and then left throwing some change on the table as a tip, under 0.20 cents. The couple finished shortly after and they wanted the machine so I bought it over. They used it and handed it back and I saw the tip amount $50, so I said wait I think you accidentally added too many zeros to the tip. They said no, I said you put $50 on a $28 bill. They said yep, to make up for how terrible those guys treated you. I saw shocked and just stared for a few seconds before saying you do not have to do that it is not your fault. They replied no but we want to. Still shocked I said thank you so much. They nodded and said good night and left. The rest of the night went by in a buzz, I was still shocked and happy with my tip, biggest single tip I ever got as a server.
I used to work at a coffee shop. People would get their coffee in a to-go mug, then say they wanted a “real mug,” and get mad when I poured their drink from the to-go cup to the mug. They wanted me to remake everything for them just because they wanted a different cup but didn’t specify that in the first place. 😑

It's ruined now!" 🙄 Yes, I drink lattes and I understand the foam on the top bit, and sometimes drizzles in the cup, but Cheesus Rice...it's all going the same place and most of the foam pops before its cool enough to drink, unless you like mouth and throat burns. Done that, hurts like hell. 😅
i don't see the point of making a whole new drink when they want a different cup. the first drink is either going to go to waste (unless where you worked employees got to drink the mistakes) or they'll say they should get both when they only paid for one! granted i work in a soda shop and not a coffee shop, so i don't do foam art on lattes, i just do whipped cream and occasionally sprinkles on top of sodas. it's bad enough that to-go cup got wasted because they wanted a "real mug" (i know it probably doesn't cost the company that much but i still hate wasting stuff lol) but what about the coffee, milk, flavored syrups if applicable, and cream and all that stuff?
I kinda felt for that guy in the pizza shop. I worked in pizza places for years and have literally had people screaming at me and demeaning me to the point of tears. Over pizza. He's right, he's a human. Humans make mistakes. It's not okay to treat people like that.
First job i ever had was in a Dominos at 17, i was abused by customers to the point of crying on the floors in the staff bathrooms. After two months i had so much anxiety about coming into work I quit.

I’ve worked at dominos, little Caesar’s, and I currently work at pizza hotline, I have faced all sorts of abuse from customers. It’s great how the second you work in the food industry you become a robot who anyone and everyone can use as a verbal punching bag🫡

While off work, they acted like they didn’t even know me. In the beginning of my 1st week at Target, they included me into some conversations, but the more the days passed, the more they ignored me. It go so bad, I felt like crying in the woman’s bathroom, but I had to fake it until I made it home…🙃

I'm the exact opposite of being entitled. I almost always put other people first. I think it's mostly due to the fact that I consider myself and my time worthless. Yesterday I was finished my gym workout and went to the locker room. Someone was at their locker which was above mine so I just stood there and waited for about 10 minutes while they finished getting dressed and their belongings into their bag and left. Most people would have asked if they could have a second to get their stuff but, as I mentioned, I'm not important so I just wait.
You are just as important as anyone else. I'm just an observer in life, not really a participant.

My brother is an entire foot taller than me and I was ready to run hands because he was checking out my (at the time) new car. He opened the hatch trunk (SUV) and sat the LIT A CIGARETTE. He already was told no smoking in my car. He had the nerve to say "I'm not in the car." I told him to get the fuck up and shut the trunk and never to fucking smoke in MY CAR again. I went 0 to 100 really fast when he did that and my family had the nerve to say I was being crazy. Nah. I will not tolerate that disrespect. He was 100000% being an asshole

Worked with a young man decades ago at a Jazz Supper Club. He was waiting on a 6 top and they'd been drinking heavily and eating expensive food. At the end they paid him in cash and told him to keep the change which was around $4. 2 hours of running for them and they gave him $4. He was hilarious, brought the change back and when they acted confused and said he was supposed to keep the change, he sarcastically replied, "You obviously need this more than I do!"
I work at a coffee shop and I can say, in fact, that we put our hot drinks in paper cups. We put our cold drinks in plastic cups. We do have the option of putting them in ceramic mugs but that's only if the customers sit to drink it. They can't take those mugs to go. 😂
The vape on gets under my skin... here's a recent story. My cousins very sick in the hospital. His other siblings thinks its perfectly fine to sit in the waiting room and vape their weed and tobacco products. I tried to tell them this was wrong... they banned me from going to visit anymore. True fkn story!
She could have waited a few minutes. She asked, he said no, that should have been the end of it. And unless you have a very good low flow vape, the vape cloud is noticeable. Most people don't.

I'm shocked the hospital staff allowed vaping anywhere other than the parking lot! That's such a health hazard! And not just because of the obvious inhaling of smoke or steam into your lungs. I know a lot of people who get horrible migraines if there's any strong chemical smell, cigarette smoke, vape, perfume/cologne or even strong smelling deodorant.

My husband and I were out to dinner with friends years ago. The waitress was so incredibly rude to one of us more than the rest and she was so puzzled as to why we didn't leave her a big tip. She literally said that she expected it from our friend, but not the rest of us. As if we'd ignore the way she treated him.
My brother gets treated really badly at Mexican food restaurants around here because he doesn’t speak Spanish. I have lighter skin so they don’t expect me to speak the language. No matter how polite he is when he says he speaks English he gets the side eye and the service tanks. Drives me crazy.

@V Sand so you're assuming that's why you're being treated poorly. I have worked at several Mexican restaurants and have never heard of this. It's very rare that a patron actually speaks Spanish. I seriously doubt that the reason you're getting poor service. Most likely it's because you don't tip accordingly and/or you're being rude first. The only exception is if you're at a Mexican restaurant in Mexico.
I worked in a Starbucks and my store stopped taking reusable mugs to prepare people's drinks around February 2020, which sucks but it became the new policy for the time. Around the time we just switched to this policy, a woman came in and wanted to order her drink in her mug, I explained the change and that we would have to prepare her drink in a paper cup. She was clearly annoyed and said "Well that defeats the purpose," and chose not to order her drink at our store but then proceeded to order egg bites which come individually wrapped in plastic and at the time were placed in little trays lined with plastic and put in a paper bag which I believe was also lined with plastic. The paper cup lady reminded me of her.
Your story reminded me of when I was also a Starbucks barista and I had this lady bitch at me in the drive through(keeping others waiting, of course) because according to her “All the cups and sleeves aren’t recycled materials or recyclable! What is y’all’s problem, don’t you care about the environment?!”
She never let me share with her that the hot cups were made w/ 30% recycled material, the sleeves made w/ 100% recycled material and also recyclable, that the hot lids, cold lids, and cold cups were all fully recyclable plastics.
The kicker? She was driving a giant SUV, sitting there with it running the whole time she ranted. This was not a particularly eco friendly SUV of any kind, it was a gas guzzler. 🙄😐

That tire thing happened to me as well! I was going grocery shopping and parked my car. I had some glass bottles in my trunk so I was getting them when some lady comes up to me saying I parked wrong. I quickly checked and was well within the lines. She then said my tires cannot be turned. I bursted out laughing which got her even angrier. I closed my trunk, locked my car and kicked one of the tires. "Nope, nothing I can do!" She was yelling some more when I went in the store.
My neighbor does it to me apl the time. I share a parking spot with her underground of my apartment. I always leave her so much room and am completely on my side of the line... but she complains to the concierge staff that my tires arent alingned perfectly.

The amount of times people say "I didn't want Olives" and demand to have the entire thing remade.. on busy days I'd just tell them to get back in line (another 30 min wait) and most of them chose to just leave. So the Sub would sit by the side and anyone could just grab it for free so we wouldn't have to waste food. I assume if a costumer refuses a drink at Starbucks it's similar

I remember this one time, when I used to work as a carpet cleaner, this woman didn't know that we were going to get her carpets wet. I tried to explain that steam comes from hot water, when that failed she had me call my manager. My manager gave her a 20 minute basic science lesson over the phone, all the while she was saying 'yes of course" .."ok"..."I understand". After the call was over she told us to leave because she wanted her carpets steam cleaned without water. The end.

I recently read an article regarding tipping… Aside from the fact that I think it’s insane that we’re expected to tip everyone, from our stylist to our nail artist to our barista, there are a lot of issues with it, apparently. The fact that waitresses get tips allows the government to keep the minimum wage for waiters/waitresses really low because they can get mad amounts of money in tips. Which is great unless it’s a slow night and they don’t make much or they get cheap tippers. Also, a lot of restaurant owners will demand part of your tips to distribute to those who don’t get tips, like bus boys and fish washers (Perkins did this when I worked there years ago). So it’s not exactly a fair practice. Pay them more, make tipping a thing of the past, everyone is happy.
I hate tipping policy, people just wanted to eat outside for different reasons and aside from paying for overly costly foods people also need to pay for the waiters' wage? Isn't that supposed to be the restaurant's job? I understand that servers need the tip because the owners pay too low, and that's the problem. Why are you paying your employees too low?
I know a lot of people don’t like tipping but as a bartender/server I absolutely love it. I work at a chain restaurant and make $35-$40 an hour, If I worked anywhere else I’d be making minimum wage or maybe $20 an hour which would not pay my bills for me

I’m pretty sure in the US that the restaurant owner is supposed to supplement the pay of their tipped workers if their wage + tips doesn’t get them to minimum wage during a pay period. Seems like a lot of people break this law?

I worked in food service for years when I was young. I tip decently according to how well you serve. Most of the time at least 15% to 18%. While dining in a very well known New York restaurant. The server was basically MIA. It took 40 minutes to return after ordering our first round of drinks and meal. The place wasn't really crowded yet as we chose to go in to beat the dinner rush. There were only four people at my table. The food was not even warm when he brought it to us. Again, he went MIA. We were asking other servers to help us get our drink order refilled. I left one dollar as my tip.
That server felt so offended he chased me down as we got to the door. He was in a huff and raised his voice trying to embarrass me. I calmly and loudly expressed why he was lucky to even get that much. In detail, I laid out why I chose not to give him anything more. He got so embarrassed he simply skulked away.
I did not enjoy that interaction. But he brought it on himself.
I was a taxi driver for 2,5 years. Things people do or ask to do in MY car is out of common sense. If I start telling, no one would believe me. People think that for 5€ they bought me, car and whole company. Stories I've heard, entitled people I've seen.. Omg!
But I still love this job. If people would just shut up and enjoy the ride.
We're not yours mom, dad, brother, sister, psychotherapist, psyhologist, doctors, friends etc..

The tipping thing in the US has me thinking, 'hmmm, maybe if hospitality workers were actually paid a sufficient wage, the tips wouldn't be so important to them.'
We have tipping in Australia, but most establishments pool the tips and at the end of the night, they're shared between the serving staff.
I read from a different commenter a couple comments above yours stating that tipping isn't expected of. I guess it depends on which state you're in.

When I was studying ( decades ago 😀) I worked at a steak ranch and we were paid a basic , a commission on spend and tips .
Nothing was pooled.
The more your you kissed ass, the more you earned. And the more upselling you did, the more you earned.
You very quickly saw who was working and who was slacking.
This also helped rid the place of slackers .
A very competitive environment as you can imagine.

I've got a tip... stay off drugs... don't vape. Speaking of which, it is also illegal to smoke/vape in restaurants, taxi'/ubers and pretty much anywhere people work here in Australia. You can smoke on the sidewalk.

Being in the service industry, namely a server. I've dealt with everyone. I do not expect a tip, it is greatly appreciated and I do love what I do. I however can't stand when people go out of their way to tell me they can't tip. I've been doing this for so long, that if you do, you do, if not it's not a big deal. I love hearing stories from all walks of life and it is something I enjoy. I've had a few entitled people over the years and in all honesty, if you pour on that kindness super super thick, swallow that cold pit in your stomach and just pour it on super thick of kindness. They will show their asses to the world and in front of everyone and you will be in the right and them in the wrong, karma will bite them in the butt and you go on your day. I have sooo many stories.

Sometimes driving sucks. I remember I had a roommate in an apartment complex that could only assign one car per apartment. And if visitor parking spaces were taken you were SOL. Luckily we lived close to a neighborhood with houses a few blocks down the street and I asked a really nice lady for permission to park on the side of the street next to her house if I couldn't find a place to park and she agreed. She was super nice and took my information to make sure to tell her neighbors not to tow. So she saved my butt a few handful of times. Was super thankful for her help and courtesy.

The paper cup I could understand depending on where you are from. I live in Korea and here if you want to sit in the store they only give you mugs. If you are for a "to go" paper/plastic cup and sit inside the coffee shop, they fine you. I had this sort of a friend in high school that kept complaining that her parents were only taking her to Disney for two full weeks once that year, instead of the two trips they always made. Not only is that super expensive as is, but we're from Pennsylvania, so its a pretty long trip to make to begin with. Also note that I have never in my life been to Disney, and probably will never be able to afford it.
Omg... I knew people like this growing up. There were a couple of different families that I grew up going to school with the kids, and while none of them were rich, they were all a bit better off than my GM factory working dad and STAHmom.. So I kept hearing all about these trips and when occasionally I'd get asked once upon a blue-moon year, I'd be like "yeah, no, never been. Probably never will get to go..." they'd just look confused, like it was unthinkable that there were people out there who hadn't even been ONCE.

We have been in the same apt for years. My car is a minicooper and hers is a CRV "minivan". our spots are side by side. As we are married, Mrs can crowd my spot without a complaint. Some tenants have tried to complain until they are reminded how she and I keep it scrubbed clean, swept, etc almost inspection ready from my military days at a barracks. They were evicted after management learned UPS pkgs not addressed to them were found in the apt.
I used to be a waitress and the Sunday crowd was the worst. Also, it’s WILD and risky to be rude to the servers especially before you get your food. I never did anything to anyone’s food (I believe in karma and always have) and I never saw anyone do something to someone’s food but still, I’d never risk it. Even if I have a bad server (and it’s actually the server and not how long the kitchen is taking) I still stay polite. People are weird and you never know.
Oh yes, I dreaded the after church crowd during my very short career as a waitress. They were often the cheapest tippers, very demanding, and their kids were hyperactive little hellions who had pent-up energy from sitting through a long church service. Not all, but most!
The worst are those who leve Bible tracts disguised as $20 bills as "tips" instead of real money. I don't think Jesus would like that!

As soon as she mentioned the big table snapping their fingers my mind said “I bet it was Sunday”. Which is weird when you think about it. These are the people who go to church. They’re the most unkind, rude, and disrespectful people. Worst still, that’s usually the big parties that take up most of your section and stay the longest and are the worst tippers. At the time I wasn’t going to church (because I was working) and these people made me not want to go back. Not EVERYONE was like that of course, there were good people who went to church and were kind. But never the big parties. I guess there’s always one in the group willing to make it difficult for everyone. Honestly, they gave the church people a bad reputation.

I’m not proud of it but I was watching Oprah one afternoon. The focus of the show was an entitled woman that treated restaurant servers like crap. This woman was trained to be a waitress and had to deal with nasty people like herself so she knew what it was like. She was very nice after that. Priceless!
The parking conundrum is usually avoided when you CORRECTLY pull into a parking space. If you there were an accident while pulling out from the space and your car was backed in, that ticket is all on you.😊
Not only are food service worker spitting in rude people's food, they have the order right in front of them, and they know exactly what everyone orders, so they know which one is the rude one. I've worked in food service my whole life

I got a parking spot with my unit in a building. Kept getting college kids parking in it because when in college or in our early twenties none of us really care about anyone else but ourselves (a lot of us anyway). I got so tired of the effort of reminding them, so I just started calling towtrucks. After the 3rd time they got the picture.
That's what I don't get when I see people complain about it repeatedly happening with the same people. Sure, you can do the neighborly thing and just politely tell them not to park in your space the first time it happens. After that, it's not just on the douche that's stealing your parking spot. It's on you for accepting it and not getting it towed each time.

Yeah, from that comment I got the feeling he & his bros spent their time seeing how far they could push her buttons before she snapped. Those are the types who, one person at the table will ask for a refill or side, waitress asks if anyone else at the table needs anything, even double checks & they all say no. Yet when she returns to the table, "oh, can I get a refill too?" then they snicker as she heads off to grab it knowing full well they're going to do the same damn thing as soon as she gets back.
The woman who had the reserved spot was kind enough to not show his face even though she was angry.

At my sibling's birthday party our uncle (a cattle farmer) WHISTLED TO GET THE SERVER'S ATTENTION. The way he does on the farm. I was mortified and you could tell in the server's tone she was pissed. I wish I could have found her after we were done eating and apologized to her for that happening but she was probably avoiding us at the end.

I worked “to-go” at a restaurant and every Sunday night this lady would order food for her and her mom and call to say we forgot something just so she could get more for free. One time I knew it was her so I told my manager it was that lady and had him watch me pack her order. When she called to say we forgot something he went out to confront her 😂

I had attempted to befriend someone I knew through work a few years ago and I still think about her sometimes 🙄
She was wild - she was broke so I’d always bring/buy food when I’d come over, one time I bought us chips and candy and stuff for a movie night and I bought her her own treat and her own chip bag because we couldn’t agree on a flavour to share.
At one point she just reaches her hand into my bag of chips (which she’d told me she didn’t like 🤨) and I kind of angled my bag away from her and she responded
“You don’t like to share, huh? 😒”
Like I hadn’t just shared my money with her and bought her food.
I went to her grad ceremony, finding out at the last second that I was expected to wear BLACK TIE because of where the ceremony was taking place, and then told her afterwards we could do whatever she wanted, it was on me.
She had somehow gotten away with wearing slacks and doc martens at this “black tie event” and she wanted to go to a park nearby, cool with me, but she kept running off the paths and expecting me to follow her, which totally ruined the shoes I’d worn because I was dressed for black tie! 🙄
Then I took her out for food and drinks and she was telling me about a date she had the next day, I suggested that she wear a different foundation because in natural light the one she had on was too pink for her (we were both MUAs and we each owned a ton of makeup so this would be a really easy fix for her and I thought we were just talking shop.)
Our relationship was pretty much entirely her bitching about her problems, even though I have plenty of my own, and a day or two later I finally tried talking about the hard times I was going though and immediately she was like
“Oh, is that why you were so mean to me the other day?”
“What?”
“Yeah, the comment on my makeup, it pretty much ruined the whole day!”
She then immediately started talking about how her problems, blahblahblah and I basically ended our friendship right there.
It had honestly been 2 months of her self absorbed hell and I was just done with her. I had attempted to befriend her because she seemed lonely and had talked to me about how hard it was for her to make friends since moving to this province, but after spending time with her I 100% understood why. 🙄

TBH I hate tipping culture.
There’s no point for it in Canada, at least no point for the expectation to be there to the degree that it’s basically mandatory.
I get it in the US where servers are sometimes working for like 2$ and hour and NEED the tips to survive (I mean, I don’t get it because WTF kind of system is that, but I get why people are expected to tip).
But servers in Canada are paid the same as anyone else, someone can be making the same hourly rate as them working retail without there even being an option of receiving tips, but if that person doesn’t have the time to go to the grocery store or prepare a meal they automatically have to add 20% to the cost of their takeout order, just because that person handed them a container?
The expectation to the point of demand with some servers makes me sick, it’s extra money that’s supposed to be a thank you for great service - I remember sitting in a bar/restaurant at a table of people who were all ordering food and expecting the bill to come at the end, as is customary.
The server would circle back once in a while to put in orders for more drinks and after the second time she did this she legit said
“You know, tipping is customary 😠”
Like we were supposed to pay her every time she showed up, rather than just tipping on the bill like any normal person would expect.
I hate it, they have that in a lot of private liquor stores too, where the staff is doing nothing but just standing there, but I’m rude for not giving them a dollar for them just showing up?
It’s nuts, especially since there isn’t an option for tipping in so many other industries where people have to put up with a lot of shit and go out of their way for customers.
(I’m not well off BTW, just at the time of me being friends with that girl I’d recently received my tax refund, and I felt bad because she was so poor so I was picking up the tab where I could - turns out she was just an idiot with money.
She was behind on rent but went out and bought a designer bag on her birthday and went on an expensive prescription anti-acne skincare treatment even though she would only get like 1 zit every few weeks. 🙄)
They often make more in tips than the cooks are making, especially weekends

I had an awful shopping trip once. Got out to my car, three-year-old in the trolley and I couldn’t get my boot open like that (but I was parked correctly. I almost cried. Then this lovely woman came over and handed me some beautiful soap that she made. She’d obviously been watching me struggle, and when I got to my car and wanted to give up she just popped up beside me. There’s still nice people in the world.
Omg. The server who took the coffee off the customer when she complained about a paper cup. I laughed so hard.
I know! I think she was actually going to keep it, but then the server grabbed it. Hilarious!

I'm so glad we're not "expected" to tip in Australia. If we want to, like with our local fish & chip shop, we'll tell them keep the change if it's cash, or round up to the nearest $10 if it's on the card. They ALWAYS react so appreciatively and thankful, which is why we do it, and the fact we've been going there for 10+ years and they always give extras, so it kind of evens out. Also, if we need urgent groceries they come via Uber from the supermarket, I'll tip $10, and again, they're so shocked and surprised, and THANKFUL! It actually makes it worth doing.
We have a lot of refugee immigrants, who barely speak the language, in our area, and seeing them out there trying to make a living where they don't necessarily have to speak to people a lot, and petrol prices are insane, $10 wouldn't even put 10 litres of fuel in their cars. One delivery driver teared up he was so thankful, he kept shaking my hubby's hand and bowing and saying 'thank you, thank you'. Another was very heavily pregnant and I sternly told her if she delivered to us again, to just knock on the door and we would come get it from her boot, she got so emotional it made me cry. If we see someone trying, we try to help as much as we can, even though they get a wage; because they don't ask. We're not well off and struggle some weeks, but we're better off than a lot of people.
I wonder if that was one of those "the staff is rude" concept places
i wish it was like that in America. I get that places don't believe in paying their employees a living wage ( which shouldn't be a thing) but it should not be the customer responsibility to make up the difference. I cant tell you how many times I've seen an employee angry cause someone didn't tip. I've even noticed some clothing shops now asking for tips

My "they say there's a market for everything" success story is that once I listed my used cardboard drink tray collection for free on craigslist and someone walked over to my home and collected them that day. I wish I'd asked why he wanted them, but I was too embarrassed to have collected them in the first place.

When my grandmother and uncle had a bunch of gerbils they would save their paper roll tubes and the drink trays for them to gnaw on for their teeth. My family also currently will use them to help compost.

The reason people have to tip is so the company doesn’t have to pay it servers… in other parts of the world it’s considered rude to tip because they actually get paid. Servers are often paid less than minimum wage and the costumers are expected to pay the difference.

At 12:10, vaping and other nicotine things actually increase anxiety. My little sister hid one from our mom (it was found eventually), and mom laid into her about it. I agree with this guy who didn't let her vape in the car. Regardless if she had anxiety, she's surely seen one of those ads in her life.
As someone who in fact worked at Starbucks for over 3 years, If you were nasty to the employees we will ABSOLUTELY give you decaf! Now we never did it the other way around, as someone who asks for decaf could have an allergy or may be hurt in anyway. But if you were nasty, and you asked for caffeine. Good luck at work babes 🤣🤣🤣❤

Okay I’m with Charlotte on this. Now everywhere you go, there’s a tip prompt. If you’re at a restaurant or salon or something, that’s normal. I always tip 20%. I went to a kids gym where you pay to have your kids play on indoor equipment. Then when you pay, there’s a tip prompt. I’m like, for what? There’s a tip thing at the skating rink. You go to subway and they’ll hastily slap your sandwich together, put a long line of ranch down one side of the sandwich and then you get a 20% tip prompt. It’s getting a little excessive, especially since we’re all paying much more for everything nowadays.
i worked at subway years ago, and while I agree, there is typically very little effort being put into the sandwiches, you also have to keep in mind that the workers are almost always high school aged kids who have to do literally everything in the store while barely being paid minimum wage. when I worked there, I cleaned the bathrooms and eating areas, I did dishes, I stocked the drinks and the chips, I worked the front counter and the drive thru at the same time, refilled condiment bottles, etc, etc. not to mention, the tips are always split between every person who worked that day. we live in a country where the only way to make any money in the service industry is to rely on tips.
Tipping’s now insane because workers are underpaid.
