  • Francis Delmonico, MD, FACS, Professor of Surgery at Harvard University, gives an international perspective on the ethics of organ donation and transplantation.
Organ transplantation raises almost every important medical ethical issue, including: standards for determining death, informed consent, the fair allocation of scarce resources, research on human subjects, global health concerns, and more. The MacLean Center's Seminar Series has examined Ethical Issues in Organ Transplantation.
This year's interdisciplinary seminar series was organized by Mark Siegler, MD, Director of the MacLean Center. The seminars are cosponsored by the Transplant Center at the University of Chicago Medicine.

Great discussion. As a heart recipient myself this gave me great insight.

Some people don't have it that easy. Organ selling is easy money.

Is n `t it terrible? Listening to this man I think: An apple a day, a dozen push ups, a good walk after dinner and church on Sundays is much better than this transplantation business. Just let me live my normal lifespan. I do not want to give or receive organs.
I want a doctor who heals and not one who exchanges parts.
