The line is from Chaplin during the attack on Pearl Harbor, he jumped into the bunker and said, "Praise the Lord, and pass the ammo."
My Dad was in WW2 and I grew up saying "praise the Lord and pass the ammunition ". That's the original quote but ammo fits into the song better.
Love your reactions. I think you are more "patriotic" for the USA than some of our citizens. For everyone who has served (American or Allies), thank you for your service!
Thank you Carolyn
It was an honor to serve..
There was a song in WWII called Praise The Lord and Pass the Ammunition. It was a serious lighthearted song that my dad taught me over 60 years ago. He was a B-17 pilot in WWII and flew 35 successful missions.
Kickass song!!!
My Daddy was in WWII and I couldn't tell you how many times I heard him say, "Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition"!
*Daddy was a gunsmith after the war.
My daddy, could shoot the eye out of a nat all his life! A Marine and a Denver Colo. Police Officer.
"World defenders possibly..."
I worked with a Cuban immigrant. He was 47, it took him 35 years to get here. But he did it legally. Once we got past the language problem (he spoke excellent English while I spoke American...) his view was startling. He had a better grasp of America than many of our native born sons. One comment stood out for me. "It IS America's job to be policemen of the world, it is America's job to show the world what is right and what is wrong. If freedom goes away, the U.S. will go away. Then who will preach the gospel?'
Wow! As much as I am proud of my Scottish ancestry, I saw that every human has that concept and yearning for personal freedom. It is a universal, innate, God given trait.
It is not the U.S. military that makes the U.S. great, but that spirit of its members that makes the the U.S. military great. The oath that starts out with "I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend
the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and
domestic;..."
We swear our fealty to a concept, not a person or government. Freedom for all is more important than our personal security, safety, even survival.
Yes, I come from North of the wall.
Thank you for that comment and I agree with you but I'd also add America and Her Allies' Job To Do that
@@TheDonsChannel Agreed. I did not mean to exclude anyone, but show not only that I am, but why I'm proud to be an American. I met an Aussie who was doing a motorcycle tour of the U.S., puzzling over a map. I rode over to him and asked if I could help. He showed me where he wanted to go and I pointed out the route. Approximately an hour. He thought it was going to take 3 hours. So, with all that spare time I invited him and his wife to lunch. In a 4 hour conversation, we both learned that we (Australia and the U.S.) were pretty much of a like mind.
I know America is great and part of that greatness is the greatness of our friends.
There are other countries who are great allies and not all of them are English speaking. We are the ones who wish to be free and not have any peoples subject to domination.
I've made that oath. So has my Grandfather and the other one too. My dad, my uncle. My brother and now my Nephew has sworn that oath and is in right now.
God Bless.
and God Bless America.
Excellent choice James!,
Thanks for sharing and being a part of the team!!
God bless the people who keep us safe🙏🏻🇺🇸Good song l haven’t heard it before 👍
If you like Moonshine Bandits, try Creed Fisher.."When you come to take mine" or "This place called USA"
What a great voice!
Wonderful wonderful song.
That was a good song. On Tora, Tora, Tora, the 1970s movie, the line in the movie was by Admiral Yamamoto: “I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.” There is no evidence that he ever said that it, but it is the true feeling every time the U.S. gets pushed.
WOW!!!!! I heard this song before....true words spoken!!!!!
One of my favorite songs.
Awesome!!!
Awesome!! My father was 30 years U.S. Navy and taught his girls to stand up and fight for all we hold dear. To my marrow, I know that if you come at us it's not only the military but its citizens that will take up that fight. 😎😁 Thanks for sharing... and your reaction made me smile.
My pleasure
My Father-In-Law was a "Mule Skinner" in the Army Quartermaster Corps in WWI. He would try to sing along to "Praise The Lord and Pass The Ammunition" and "How Ya Gonna Keep 'em Down on the Farm, After They've Seen Paree". His favorite comment: "We had Mules and Trucks. The Mules were stubborn, but a damn site more dependable!"
Love it, we stand with our Scottish brethren.
I am so glad to watch someone who is not afraid to let the world know that they believe in the God of the universe, the Creator of all. Especially on this platform, so many people spend their lives worrying about who they might offend, or in some cases who they CAN offend, purposely. And you don't do that. I can't say you're unbiased, but that is okay. We each are biased, and I tend to lean toward your opinions and beliefs. Just one more reason I watch your Channel more than anything else on RUclips. Period!!! Keep it up my friend, we got your back.
Very well spoken.
Don't wake the sleeping Giant! Ask Admiral Yamamoto, He was in charge of the Peral Harbor raid. That was his quote when he got the order. He got flamed flying over the Pacific.
Trace is a wonderful patriot!!!
Love this thank you for sharing
We were watching a military show and heard them use the term Winchester when out of ammo and we ended up naming our cat Winchester because of it :)
Loved this song. Thanks for the reaction and agree with your comments!
We have an expression here "Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition " Amen 🙏Please do something about the" Trail of Tears" I will search for video.
😁
Love love this song! Don't poke the bear!! 🇺🇲
Absolutely
You should react to the original “praise the lord and pass the ammunition” now. And “blood upon the risers” for good measure.
As Yamamoto said after the attack on Pearl Harbor "I'm afraid we have woken a sleeping giant." I served 15.5 years and 3 combat tours in the Army. Even though I no longer serve I'm still a soldier and will defend my family, my community with my dying breath.
"We Will, We Will, Rock YOU!!!! Go NAVY!!!!
We need to get along with each other PEACE AND FREEDOM FOR ALL
How did I miss this? Great song.
This is going on my gym playlist along with warrior song
Sir, our ancestors are Scots-Irish it's kinda in the seed.
@Charlton Jones We kicked ass at Cowpens and Kings Mountain . Then we chased the Redcaoats all the way to Yorktown where the laid down their arms before sailing back to England .
Wow...Freedom has a price.
Time to put up or shut up
Count the cost
100%

Got a weird question for you brother . My last name is McCollister. I’m technically scots Irish but Italian looking cause it’s in my blood too. My question is , you ever heard the last name McCollister over in Scotland?
I can't say I have personally but It's very Scottish sounding
Like others said, the awesome original that inspired this, “Praise the lord and pass the ammunition” is a great, well said and upbeat song, haha. And where ya been lately man? Hope all is well.

As you can say what the world is living through is not a joke so brother passed the ammo
Gday the Don Father I know you have reacted to I was only 19 by Redgum. Here is an interview with the artist who wrote and sung the song. It is a great story on how it came about and how it united Australia as a country in recognising the hero’s that served in Vietnam.
