All 3 are brothers (Robin, Barry & Maurice)... The one in the middle is Barry, and he is the only brother alive today... Maurice dies in 2003 and Robin died in 2012... They had a younger brother named Andy and when he got older, Barry helped him with a solo career, but Andy died in 1988 from drugs..... I highly suggest you listen to ALL of the Bee Gees songs & Andy Gibb's songs.

Barry actually has a lower voice than the twins. The falsetto was discovered after the band’s producer heard the recording of the song, “Nights on Broadway” and said, “it’s too bad one of you can’t scream in tune!” Barry said he would try and that amazing falsetto was born.

The brothers didnt need auto-tune. They were often asked to sing acapella and they were always PERFECT! Listen to some of their live stuff. Also, their children are now recording together and with Barry, who is the last living Bee Gee. You wont hear anything like them again!

    That's called perfect harmony!

  • @dortheyc5276
    @dortheyc5276 3 года назад +6

It's like they invented harmony. Live band, no auto tune, no computerized voice enhancement and one mic for all three of them. Back then (1979). singing was just pure, raw talent. By the date of this recording, the BeeGees had already been singing together professionally for 21 years when Barry was 12 years old and the twins were just 9. All of the Gibb brothers including little brother, Andy, could sing in that amazing falsetto voice. But Barry was the master. He was able to exorcise more control over it. The Gibbs were, in my opinion, the most multi-talented families in music history. They wrote their own songs as well as writing songs for many other musical greats. This song was included on a compilation album to benefit UNICEF. There were many artists who recorded songs on the album, but the BeeGees gave all the royalties from this song in any form. In, at that time, an unprecedented move, they also gave UNICEF the publishing rights to Too Much Heaven. To date, Too Much Heaven has raised over 11 million dollars for UNICEF. In 1967, they wrote a song called To Love Somebody which appeared on their third album titled BeeGees 1st, but their first internationally, as the first two albums were only released in Australia. BeeGees 1st was released in July '67. Otis Redding was set to record To Love Somebody on his next album. Sadly, Otis was killed in a plane crash, Dec 10,1967. I thought for the longest time that they didn't record it themselves until after the death of Otis Redding. Their brother Andy Gibb had a very successful solo career as well until his death on March 10,1988. Just 5 days after turning 30. Andy had developed myocarditis, inflammation of the heart, which was brought on by a viral infection While most people recover from myocarditis, Andy's body was unable to fight the infection due to his history of drug use. Soo sad! The 1st time I heard this song, I was 15 years old. I was sitting on the floor in our living room. They sang with so much emotion that I had tears running down my face. It didn't hurt that before this I found out that Barry and I shared the same birthday, me in 1963 and him in 1946. While I was crying, my daddy came in and told me to knock it off or he'd change the channel. He was mean.
A lot of people believe (And I used to be one) that this song was written specifically for Otis Redding, and that the BeeGees decided to record after he died. I thought so too until I realized the dates didn't match up to that story. Otis loved the song when he heard it. He mentioned it in an interview or something. He was going to cover it. The BeeGees couldn't have decided to record it after he died. To Love Somebody was one of the songs on the BeeGees first international album called BeeGees 1st. That album was released in mid July in 1967, several months before Otis Redding was killed in a plane crash on Dec. 10

When I was a child in the seventies, I heard this very song on the AM/FM radio. I fell in love with the angelic voices and the music. But I didn't know who sang the song until this year when I watched the Bee Gees video of Too Much Heaven for the first time. The video adds another dimension to my love of this song that I will never tire hearing on repeat. The exceptional talent, professionalism, the class, the finesse, the emotional uplift that the Bee Gees delivers in this video are amazing.

When a man pushes his voice higher than it naturally wants to go, that range is called falsetto. Every man can push his voice into the falsetto range, but it takes a lot of work and practice to make it sound GOOD. Barry Gibb has an awesome falsetto. Another musician you know who has a great falsetto is Roger Taylor, the Queen drummer -- he's the one who did all the really high bits in Bohemian Rhapsody, like the high "Gallileos," and that great, long, high note toward the end of the '81 Montreal version of Somebody to Love.
The BeeGees were one of THE top disco bands in the 70s. They were incredibly popular when I was like 10-14 (I'm 56 now). After that, they still had their fans, but the disco craze ended very abruptly. I remember around school, by about '79 or '80 it was very common for teenagers to claim that they not only hated disco, but had never liked it. These were kids I'd gone to school with for a number of years; I remembered these same exact kids raving about the BeeGees, their little brother Andy Gibb (who went solo and became a superstar, sort of like Michael Jackson did later when he split from the Jackson Five), and Donna Summer, Chic, ELO, etc., singing their songs, wearing their T-shirts, the whole nine yards.
If you like the BeeGees, check out Andy Gibb's stuff too; it's very similar.

"Too Much Heaven" is a song by the Bee Gees, which was the band's contribution to the "Music for UNICEF" fund. They performed it at the Music for UNICEF Concert on 9 January 1979. The song later found its way to the group's thirteenth original album, Spirits Having Flown. It hit No. 1 in both the United States and Canada. In the United States, the song was the first single out of three from the album to interrupt a song's stay at #1. "Too Much Heaven" knocked "Le Freak" off the top spot for two weeks before "Le Freak" returned to #1 again.[1] "Too Much Heaven" also rose to the top three in the United Kingdom. In the US, it would become the fourth of six consecutive No. 1s in a single year, equalling the record set by Bing Crosby, Elvis Presley, and the Beatles for the most consecutive No. 1 songs.
Robin Gibb reportedly said on the Bee Gees' interview for Billboard in 2001 that this track was one of his favourite songs of the Bee Gees.[2]

"Too Much Heaven" was released nine months after "Night Fever". At the time, this had been the longest gap in The Bee Gees' distribution of singles since 1975.[citation needed]
The single "Too Much Heaven" was released in the late autumn of 1978 (it had originally been intended for use in the John Travolta movie Moment By Moment, but was pulled before the film's release reportedly because Barry Gibb thought the movie was awful when he was shown a rough cut),[citation needed] and started a slow ascent up the music charts. In the first week of 1979, preceding the Music for UNICEF Concert, the single first topped the charts in both the United States and Canada. In the United Kingdom, the single peaked at number three late in 1978. A slow ballad that was unlike the previous two singles off the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, Barry Gibb noted that the group wanted to "move in an R&B direction, still maintaining our lyric power, and our melody power as well."[citation needed] In the summer of 1978, the Gibb brothers announced their latest project at a news conference at the United Nations in New York City. All of the publishing royalties on their next single would go into UNICEF, to celebrate the International Year of the Child, which was designated to be 1979. The song earned over $7 million in publishing royalties. Then-United Nations Secretary-General Kurt Waldheim heralded the move as "an outstanding and generous initiative."[citation needed]
The Bee Gees were later invited to the White House, where President Jimmy Carter thanked the group for their donation. At the ceremony, the brothers presented Carter with one of their black satin tour jackets. Carter remarked that he was "not a disco fan" but knew enough about their music because his daughter Amy was a big fan.[citation needed] In later years, the brothers performed the song with only Barry's guitar and keyboards, with all three singing in their normal range. This version was part of a medley the brothers did as part of their 1989 One For All tour, and is also included on the Tales from the Brothers Gibb box set alongside the original version.
"Too Much Heaven" also reached No. 2 in Cash Box charts in six weeks between 30 December 1978 and 3 February 1979 behind Chic's "Le Freak".[5][6]

All 4 Gibb brothers (Barry, Maurice, Robin, and Andy) had beautiful voices. The Bee Gees were pop gods putting out music from the 1950's (as children) up to the 2000's when Maurice and then Robin died. Absolute musical geniuses. Barry (the lead on this) is still alive and putting out albums with his children. He's still kicking butt at 70.

I hope that Maurice & Robin who passed in 2003 & 2012 didn't wait in line & did find heaven. God would have welcomed them with open arms to join his heavenly choir. Their voices were unique & Barry the one in the middle is the last brother standing sad to say but their decades of hits will go on & on with each new generation. No other singer or group will come close to these guys.

Barry didn't start singing in falsetto till mid 70s. They have been singing since Barry was 10 and Maurice and Robin were 6. They change their sound per the era, late 60's early 70s didco, then pop songs. Their little brother Andy had a solo career, because the older brothers were already established. Unfortunately the only one alive is Barry the oldest. This song the donated all the proceeds to UNICEF, 7 million dollars.

Barry Gibb is the lead singer (tall one with thick hair, beard & mustache, in the middle). he is also the eldest brother of this trio. Robin & Maurice were fraternal twins. Their youngest brother, Andy Gibb (also an amazing singer & solo artist in his own right) passed away first at the age of only 30 yrs old (back in 1988). Maurice (the other one with mustache & beard) was the next to pass away in 2003 (age 54). His twin, Robin (no facial hair) died in 2012 (age 63)... Barry is now 73 & still performs as the last Bee Gee - so sad to see him on stage alone. Be sure to check out their other songs as well as their brother Andy's hit songs - the most popular being Shadow dancing, I just want to be your everything, Thicker than water, Everlasting love, & I can't help it (duet with Olivia Newton-John).

All 3 are brothers, Barry is the high singer in the middle, he is the oldest brother and the only one left alive. The other two were actually twins. Their youngest brother was beginning to make music with them and they helped him in his solo career, he looked slot like Barry, but sadly he died. Though he was the youngest he was the first to die. The bee gees went on to write many famous songs, hits in fact for other famous artists.

The BeeGees are all brothers. Barry, the taller one is the only brother still living. The two younger brothers have passed , one in 2003 and the other one in 2012. They were songwriters and performers who will be loved forever.
