I wasn't getting that vibe. To an animal raised in captivity like him crowds are basically just shifting wallpaper and a white noise machine. Seemed like he was just checking the backdrop while thinking his gorilla thoughts.

When he was younger, at the old enclosure, he would Drum at the viewers a lot, the only time he would ever acknowledge their presence and it wasn’t to welcome them.
There are no updates on Nene from the zoo. I would appreciate it if you could update it, even if it's just a little information. I will report back as soon as we have the latest information from the zoo.

I think it is a combination. Gorillas do have a lot of moods and feelings, so I'm sure Annie remembers some of it and there are more than one video of Nene - one Annie was about five not just when she was a baby. I'm sure it doesn't make her feel warmer to her if nothing else. And, they do tend to bully the lowest on the hierarchy at times especially as teens from what I've noticed.

behind the gorilla enclosure is a series of cages and hallways.... each gorilla knows their cage and they go there when the time comes... IF you are ever lucky enough... you will see the hallway.... where there are two lines on the ground.... If you step outside those lines, the gorillas will literally rip off whatever part of you they can reach..... Just be a security guard.... you get to see all the animals and wont get eaten.... or worse...
To me that seems to be torture for them. They are spending more time in the basement. The troop is not getting the fresh air and exercise that they need. They are not eating like before. Food is being left behind and not eaten. I only hope that Nene is not in pain. The veterinary and zookeepers are causing the hardship for the entire Shabain troop. Do they have the very best interest in all Shabain troop and Nene? I am not a veterinarian or a zoo keeper but I can only write what I see.
It worries me that thay don't get fed any carbs food , only salad food , think about it could you live on only salads ? I know I couldn't, thay need fruits and sweet potatoes, thay would love that. , shabanis brothers family looks more healthier then this family, this family is at the mercy of the people that takes care of them..😢😢😢

Hi! Thank you for the update. I watch the Shabani troop every day for well beforeNeNe became ill. I have googled about her and cannot find anything to include the zoo not saying unless I happen to miss that one day, so what is wrong with Nene? And so very grateful that her family does get to see her. Thank you
Very good comment, i beleive it should be illegal to put a male and a female gorilla into an enclosure for them to mate and breed, cross mate and cross breed, the zoos will put the females on birth control to keep cross breeding happening, BIRTH CONTROL!!! For gorillas!! Like what!? How did that ever come into existence? That is absolutely insane, yet it is not against the law to put a male and female gorilla together? This world is disgusting, in my opinion, which im entitled to. What has happened in this world?? When did human beings become so disgusting, why do we force these completely innocent animals into captivity? They didn't do anything to us, they are all afraid of us, and for good reasons. Its sickening.

Wow, Shabani's belly is so small. I've never seen a gorilla without a big belly. Seems like he wasn't eating anything at all.

His brother Haoko lost weight when Momoko was sick after the birth of their daughter Sumomo. Very stressful situation!

I think Annie attacks Nene because she's the smallest and weakest. AI has always had a very mellow attitude and rarely engages in any conflict.
