That's a very lovely in depth comparison of the two pencil brands. The only thing I'd like to add is that oil based pencils are more transparent than wax based. It's a bit like comparing watercolour to gouache. Both pencils look alike, but they don't work the same because of their binders, and therefore I often feel they shouldn't really be compared to each other because they are different mediums. But to people starting off with colouring or drawing with coloured pencils this will be a very interesting and useful comparison. Thank you for taking the time to make it. :D

I totally agree! But so many beginners are not aware of the difference. That's why I wanted to make a video about it. Thanks a lot for adding that item to my list as well!!! ❤

Thanks so much for this. I was debating which set to buy as I am about to start my next art class. I decided on a smaller set of both which I can add to later.

It actually doesn’t matter but maybe you could get details better with Polychromos.

Which is best oil or wax

I prefer wax for my realistic human portraits and use the oil based one for my animal portraits! It is hard to get great results with wax based pencils in animal portraits.

@@scamp0p265 Although I haven't used them myself, I have heard great things about Derwent lightfast. They recently rolled out their set of 120. It is tough to decide for me, but I believe Derwent is better at lightfastness
