Bought those brake lines, and new EBC brake pads from your website, and installed them onto my 2007 Yamaha FZ1. Afterwards, I went out for a slow, careful ride, because freshly installed brake pads requires a break-in period before they bite onto the rotor. After riding for 10-15 miles and gently riding the brake pads, I can confidently say the new brake lines and brake pads are so much better than stock. Every 4 years, one should replace their stock rubber brake lines. But if you purchase these stainless steel braided brake lines, they’re good for life of the bike. Install and forget it about.
I was thinking of doing this myself. But I don’t have the patience to do so in this kind of project. I will be sending my R6 to a pro shop. Everything else. I’ll take care of. Thanks for posting videos like this guy! Great work!
18:34 Hey Brian, on the master why tighten the top first?? I’ve always done them evenly where there is the same amount of space on top/ bottom of the clamp. Everything takes twice as long because I’m so ungodly OCD!!! What’s your reasoning on this? My paranoid mind wants to know.
This clamp is designed to have the upper fastener torqued first. Once this one is torqued you follow with the lower. The upper half will be held flush against the body of the master while there will be a gap between the master body and the cap. - Van
Banjo bolt did not brake and the lines are still in service. From time to time the banjo will grab a little hard before it is fully tight then release suddenly a bit. Good to go. - Van
I cant install spiegler break lines on 2005 kawasaki 636, there is a stopper on the bike ( behind the break line) so I can turn the break line that way the break lever can work free cuz the break lever has a hard plastic stopper on the back that stoop on the line. Can some body help me please
Why don't you use vacuum to get air out the lines instead of pumping? I'm installing these, HH EBC pads, and new rotors front and back on my 02 r6 tomorrow
Thanks for the video. Let’s say if the bag had all fresh fluid from bleeding. Can the fluid be reintroduced back into the master if you ran short of fluid? Of course not in this instance, but I’ve seen videos where all the fluid going into the bag is new. If this is the case, can it be reused? Thanks.
In theory that would work out, that said these systems have very low capacity so it is best practice just to replace it and not recycle any fluid. Also important to note you should use be opening a NEW bottle of fluid each time you service the brakes to ensure it is moisture free etc... - Van
When I took off my factory lines I got a little brake fluid on the pads it looks like and I’m wondering if I gotta replace them? Some people said it should be fine or to use some brake cleaner and should be good then. Any input?
I have a question I have purchased this from you guys , and I have a question . On my Gxsr600 originally from oem parts my right caliper had two brake lines with the double banjo. But I have seen that this is actually installed at the top by the master cylinder . Leaving only one line on the left and one brake line on the right side . Is that correct .
There are a couple of different kits. It sounds like you have the standard double line kit that will have both lines running from the master to the calipers on the right and left. Hope this helps. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear yeah saw it on the package was alternative one . It had no instructions and now I don’t know which end goes were but I guess I’ll figure out since I removed the strollers out. Would be nice if they permanently labeled somewhere in the line
I bought the system for the ABS and the Vortex rear set and the Vortex pressure switch once installed bled it like what they say. Brakes work fine until you start the bike once started the pedal is hard as a rock and no brakes. Took it to local Race shop they spent a day nothing told me to take to dealer. Dealer had bike a week got it back $500 out of pocket and I still have no back brake. Can not find any information on how to bleed the ABS pump. Apparently there is a bubble between the cylinder and the ABS pump. Went back to all original same thing did a pressure bleed and a vacuum bleed as well as conventional all with same result. Found most encountered same result and did an ABS delete looking for someone that knows how to bleed ABS pump.
I have installed brake lines on multiple ABS equipped bikes and have not run into any issues bleeding the brakes using the same procedure we have shown. With that said there are no absolutes in life and shit happens. Since you are referring to the "pedal" I assume the issue is with the rear brakes. It is very difficult to diagnose something without having the opportunity to lay hands on it. I would suggest back tracking and double checking all of the work you did and the parts you installed. When you do a job and run into an issue afterwards that was not there previous to starting the work it is almost always caused by the work you just did. - Van
Check the alignment of the rear brake caliper hanger to make sure it is properly installed. If it is not in the slot that can create serious issues. - Van
( sorry for my english, i m french .... ) "19.30" I have not dreamed, you broke the banjo's thread of the right front caliper ??? ( when you tight it... i m a mechanic, i think you will not say that but a mistake, one time, is human ) Great video for your race bike by the way ( YZF-R1 )
The banjo bolt did not break. The banjo bolts and the crush washers are aluminum, when torquing the bolts down there is some friction between the bolt and crush washer. What you see at 19:30 is the grip between them releasing. This happens when the surfaces are both really dry sometimes. If I broke the bolt I would admit it, shit happens to all of us. - Van
She had the levers on the bike before she started with us. STG Staff get a kick ass employee discount, better than most motorcycle dealer employee discounts. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear no its not the ABS system on the R6 has no bleed and once you get air in system there is no way to get it out., You must have done an ABS delete in this build.
The stainless steel lines are much more rigid than OEM rubber lines so the do not require as many mounting points. On some race applications there will not be any mounting points used on the front lines at all. - Van

I thought the front lines were suppose to route behind the front forks? is this done right?
WyZedEf R6 Depends on the kit, some go in front, others go behind. The one that goes in front is Spiegler Rennsport kit
From brand to brand routing of the lines will vary, this kit is routed the way it was designed to be. - Van
@@itsMC411so prefer the rennsport kit myself.
Thanks for the tip about the zip tie on the brake lever. I usually bleed the Mc last to get whatever air you have in the system out.
No problem! Thanks for watching!
Does it matter which end you start the bleeding process from? Master cylinder then calipers or does it matter?
I have done it either way and got the same result. - Van
