Wow good work bro! Can't wait until i see part 2😎
You do good work man I pulled my 4.7 out just like you did it.. but without the power tools and put another one in and brother let me tell you the one I took out had coolant and metal flakes in it..I'm not a certified mechanic just a shade tree I just learn from guys like you that do this in their sleep but in all you do excellent work man👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
hey bryan just tacked the engine swap in the dodge ram 4.7. piece of cake. other engine fired right up.. thank u
Happy to hear my video helped out!
And what I mean by any tips is like any special tools or anything
LOL 210,000 miles on the original 4.7l Powertech that came with the 02 bango. The errors were so EASY to avoid they always tell you way before any damage is done.
Yeah, wonder the % of the times he sighed over "another 4.7" that was a full size Rams and not in the lighter Dakotas/Durangos which were like 3/8 ton trucks like the S10/Blazer and Ranger which had V6s. The ram is easily 500lbs heavier for the regular cab alone and I know my QC Dakota is around 4800, which was as heavy as they came for the 97-04 gen. Thats why Dodge made the 4,7 dual spark plug per cylinder, like the hemis and bumped to power/tq figures to handle the heavier redesign in 05.
When I departed with mine it was 247,000 miles and the only problem it had was the rear axle I BENT offroading like a boss (Mine came with the composite skid pans in the undercarriage) I miss it I really do.
Was that the air filter! Nah, couldn't be.
No Kidding!
Hey I’m 18 with 2002 Dodge Ram 4.7 2wd and I took my motor out with a help of my brother and I’m gonna be attempting to put back another 4.7 in is there any tips on what I need I know the basics but do you have any advice like on how to put the fluids back in or anything?
we just did the engine swap, we were wondering if you could possibly tell us what we need to do to make the fly by wire work??? or what part we would need to make it work?
A little help ! Your vids helping me so far. 07 Grand Cherokee 4x4 Laredo 4.7 - Flex fuel. Parts issue replacing oil pump and timing chain. Getting two stories ? Parts fitment for a 285ci, and a 287ci - being told there is and there is not a differences ?

@@Bryan916 Thanks for the link. info. there was not 100%. Parts match up and spec. out of date for my year. I'll keep searching. Thank U again for helping. Stay Safe.
@@smkdude26 From my years of experience working on the 4.7 I'm 100% sure all 4.7 in North America are 287s so it's safe to buy 4.7 parts listed with with an engine displacement of 287ci
Just bought a 2003 need motor sound like it was timing chain but I need to know what 4.7 engines can I put in it if I can’t find the 2003 1500 motor
How can you tell if you need a engine with or without a carrier mounting Lh rear cylinder block? I’m trying to replace my engine in my 04 Durango 4x4
Do this apply to 2002 Dakota as well with the 4.7 engine
Have you had any problems with them not cranking after shaping them? Both vin N, I drove one in and replaced it with one that was locked down! All the grounds are bolted in place
No never had one not start on me. Have You check the cam and crank sensor!
What was wrong with the engine when it came in? No start? Bad knock or rattle?
I have an 05 Ram 4.7 that I have been adding a little hp to from time to time.
Love your videos!
Click the link then skip the video ahead to 16:55. I tried to start it and it was pretty obvious the motor was trashed. ruclips.net/video/uJrfNhEYwQI/видео.html
O..... Enough said!
Where are you located how long did this take you ?
will a gen III 5.7 hemi fit in a gen IV truck
How long did it take you to pull it out ?
what's the big red wire connected 2 in the back I have the same truck but it has electrical issues finding a honest mechanic that's not gonna tell you it needs a engine swap besides cut and miss soldered wires...
Helo Brayn how long time it takes you to do all this work? I like your video because you explain and show averting, thank you for all this information 👍
about 3 hours to get the engine out!
@Bryan916 where did you bolt up the chain off the front of the block and where in the rear
@@jacobjarvis2545 im wondering the same thing ??
@daman737 you can either use a strap and go from the exhaust manifolds or pull the intake and bolt the chain to the back of the head and front acc drive. Just watch the valve covers bc they can be weak and brittle if you go from the exhaust manifolds and you will have to wiggle and jiggle the engine back and forth and will be high on 1 side if you chain it front to back. It's what I had to do
Hey I have a question if anyone knows or can answer .I have a 2006 dodge charger rt 5.7l hemi engine, the motor mounts are not the same to fit my dodge ram, is there mounts that will fit to a 2002 dodge ram 1500? Thanks
Quick question. Can you swap a 02 1500 4.7 4x4 and put a 04 1500 4.7 ?
Where is your shop located at?
I swapped mine and the 02 sensors refuse to work, Even the new ones and they have power so it won't pass inspection
How groudss do the 4.7 engine have I swap my engine and can't get it to start
did you have to support the transmission ?
Can I put n 5.2 n a dodge ram pu wit n 4.7
My torque converter cover has 6 bolts. They are unruly. How do I get them off?
Hey I have an 02 Ram 4.7. Can I swap to a 5.7 using same transmission?
theres 2 bolt holes in the valley, between the heads, is that where u bolted one of the chain hook ups?
Yes
Man I've been looking for a video like this for days. I have a 2009 1500 with a seized 4.7. It looks easy to change. My question is can I just swap a 5.7 in it from the same year? I just need the wiring harness? I dont want to out another 4.7 in it..
Were you able to get that information?
Do you know if the 02 ram 1500 4.7 all the engine from 02 rams are the same?
I don't think so some are 4.7 some are 5.7
How much did you pay for it?
Can I swap my 4.7 to a 5.7 hemi on my ram ?
is it possible to replace the 4.7L in a 2000 dakota with a 4.7L from a 2002 Ram 1500. Both are 4 door and 4x4
Yes swap over the flywheel an exhaust manifold and it should be fine.
@@Bryan916 is the tranny not the same? Do I have to use the one in the dakota?
How long did the swap take, or just to remove the 4.7.
I wont be going back with a 4.7 eventhough it was a good engine that ran 200000 miles without any problems.
I'm going back with a 6.1 srt8 hemi and tranny.
Thanks Sid
like 3 hours to remove it.
Thanks
That's my plan, 4.7 is at 147k now but I'm ready for a change
@@357RedG you'll like the change, especially if you go with a hemi
I have a 2006 Dodge Ram 4.7 and is it possible for me to place a 5.7 hemi motor to the ram ??
Is it possible to go from a 5.7 to 4.7
I'm pulling my 4.7l out of my 2004 dakota next week. Putting a Powertrain Products reman in it.
Does the transmission drop at all after pulling the motor?
Can you please tell me if a Dodge Dakota truck needs to be sitting on a flat surface to install the motor properly I'm having trouble because my - Dakota is sitting on a incline in my driveway so I don't know if that's the cause for the trouble The problem is I can't get the mountain amounts to align and engine and transmission to mate properly please let me know what I need to do
I mean motor mounts
Sitting on a flat surface would help make the job a little easier but it wouldn't prevent you from installing your motor. Make sure you have the correct mounts. beware of cheap mounts that don't work as well. Also try loosening up the transmission mounts to help the engine and trans come together.
@@Bryan916 ok thank you for the tips I will set it on a flat surface and double check the mounts i did get them from a Amazon vendor
I paid 35.00 a peice.
I mean motor mounts
Does anyone know if a newer 4.7 will work for an older ram (03 swapping with a 06+)
Only 02-03
If I swap my 05 ram 4.7 to a 07 ram 5.7, what else would I need to change besides the ECM and wiring?
A trick : you can watch movies on Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using it for watching loads of movies during the lockdown.
@Jesiah Quincy Yea, I've been using Flixzone} for since november myself :)
The ground strap at 22:40 connects to both heads right?? What size bolts are they that go there
Orlando Corona Can't remember maybe 13mm
So I did and engine swap on my 2007 jeep grand Cherokee in getting it to crank but doesn't fully turn over not sure if its electrical issue with my grounds I hear my fuel pump turning on any suggestions?
Orlando Corona you gotta check for fuel, spark and compression.
See which ingredient is missing and then take it from there.
Ok so I check all of that I got everything but spark I've checked my realys fuses everything I could think of crankshaft positioning sensor cam sensor I'm getting a p0335 code I'm stuck ... the ground behind the heads what does it ground? Advise would be greatly appreciated
Orlando Corona Replace the crankshaft position sensor which is likely the problem, but it could be a wiring issue also. so check Supply voltage, ground, and sensor signal.
I got a 2002 4.7 4x4 140,000 miles prayin I get too 240,000 anything I can do for my truck to keep it running clean and good other than doing the oil change every 3,000 miles???
Keep it nice and cool, never allow the temp to pass 210!
Add head gasket sealer now!
My 4.7 has 300k and hasn’t skipped a beat lol!!
My friend has an 08 Durango with 4.7. The engine blew a head gasket. We changed his oil because there was coolant in it and bought some cheap head gasket sealer and put it in there. No more smoking. He has about 170k on it.
how much would you charge me to do this swap?? i want to save money to do this i got an 02 ram
also bc i think i have a lifter that failed
@@erickmorales6381 change the lifters , had lifters fail on me
Can i swap a 4.7 w egr with a 4.7 w/o egr
It will set a check light if the ECM does not see EGR input. You would have to have the ECM reprogram without EGR!
Can I bring my truck to you
Lol my friend just bought a Durango with a 4.7
It's a good motor till you heat it up, or reach high mileage then it pretty much self-destructs
Bryan916 yeah i told him not to buy the piece of junk but he didn't listen...and it already needs brakes, heater core and a new a/c compressor...then of course a new engine and a set of remanned heads in the near future...
No one wants to tackle the 4wd 4.7 swap
