100% can't wait to see everything fully worked out so I can attempt this on my 2001 dodge ram 2500 4x4 crew cab shortbox. Wish your were doing the 4x4 version with the gen 3 hemi and tranny with transfer case so we could follow along but this is a great start and you got me pumped up for this build. Good Job brother
I am looking in to do that same swap on my 01 scsb and wish there was more support for this swap in second gens. I would 100% buy them if they were available.
I have my daily driver, a '98 Ram 4wd that I am planning on pulling off the road soon for a Hemi swap. I would definitely take a set of mounts. Also interested on how that 8spd fits and what mount work is needed there.
I would love one got a 2001 Ram 1500 with a 3.9L V6 and been looking into doing a swap can't wait to see how it comes out so I can do the same on my truck
That TorqueFlight will be amazing behind that Hemi if you keep it in there. It’s a perfect drag racing transmission and they’re strong. I had one in my 75 Dodge D150 with a shift kit and the shifts were so firm. And it held gear without any convwrns of slipping.
I would definitely be interested in a more detailed description of the modification done to the frame as well as these mounts! I would love to be able to swap in a hemi a tad easier than trying to match power to some degree by stroking out the 360 mag
What I love about your channel is you have all the mopars that were collectors to me the srts the RTS the ssts every vehicle that you have is either a monument for Mopar or is a to me in my eyes is a collector's item because there's not very many of them dude you have an awesome collection I love it man I dream of having what you have literally them vehicles are the same ones that I really want I talk about them all the time to my wife and my son one day one day
That’s my dream, I have a 96 that my grandma pa bought new and sold to me for blue book in 06’. I have a modern 5.7 engine and trans and want to swap it… so I’m real curious as to how all this will work out for you. Great video!!!
I have a 96 ram 1500 v6 that I would love to do a hemi swap too. It has sentimental value so I would love to get this upgrade going. Will this same swap and these same mounts work for me as well? It’s also a 2wd I would like to also convert it to a 4wd if that’s possible.
I think we should start calling john “the HeMi Whisperer “ What do ya all think lol.. an I would cut it jus the same as you did john.. its what makes the most sense .. 99.9 % sure no one will ever want to put a 5.9 back in .. i wouldn’t after having a nice 5.7 in it.. you did the right thing bro 👍💯an it looks factory like again like you always make them look lol .. im lookin forward to seeing how it works an drives with the big 727 trans .. really excited for this build bro 💯👍
My first truck when I was in 9th grade was a Dodge ram SST a 98 white with the Pepsi blue stripes I had it lowered cow ram Air hood 360 5.9 big block with headers lifters cam long to betters to the 40 series flows with 3-in tips coming out the passenger side and shoot a 3-ft flame and then I had it on American eagle five star deep dish 16 x12 and 1/2 with Cooper Cobra white wall tires with three virtual tech Hammer tens in it chameleon CD player and God was is she a beast
Y The 46rh trans is controlled by 3 wire plug the center is hot the other two go to grounds thru a toggle switch arm the center fused the when you want to while driving shift in to OD THEN lock up.. bets the 727. Then you can run deeper gears. My 96 Reg cab short bet ran a best 14.4 at 95. With 5.9 on 3:90 gears
Looking good can’t wait to see the wiring. Also did the 727 just bolt right on? Just curious? Cause if that’s the case then wouldn’t a 6spd or 8spd trans bolt up to a 5.9 magnum?
I was having the same problem with my 1998 Gen 2 when I put my 2004 SRT10 Viper engine the driver side was the problem for the headers. Best of luck but custom brackets are the way to go.
I've been wanting to do a hemi swap in my 2000 ram sport for some time now but have been busy with other life shit and my other projects. But if it works out I most likely would scoop up a set of mounts. And I got a friend who has a few hemis laying around in wrecked trucks and cars in his towing scrap yard may be able to scoop one pretty cheap too.
Ive got my 96 ram sport and would love to do this same swap but with a manual transmission, i also would love to work on these kind of swaps for a buisness im all excited to see this all the way!! Keep it up!!!
I have a 98 1500 single cab 2 wheel drive Ram been in a fire and throttle body etc was melted off top of motor. was only a 5.2 magnum and I have purchased a 2005 5.7 Hemi and trans out of a C300 car. I would be keen on a set of your mounts and then I can sort out the trans mount. any other info you can offer on this repower would be appreciated. I have been looking on net for while but most info is for repowering Dakotas this is the first most helpful site I have found great work.
Finally cause i have a 2nd gen sport 4x4 off-road edition and a hemi would be nice i wish someone did a 4x4 swap as well caise i whana now how to use a transmission alomg with a transfer casr
I agree 👍 I have a 2001 dodge ram 2500 4x4 and would like to throw a gen 3 with tranny In my truck. I would buy the mounts for the swap. Love the vids keep up the good work
I want to hemi swap a B3500 van. Hopefully, the mounts get made. I assume it would be roughly the same chassis side mounts even though the van is a 1 ton chassis with a 5.9 magnum.
I’m buying my Granddads 98 1500 that he’s had since brand new. I remember it coming home when I was 10 now 25 yrs later it’s mine and this is exactly what I want to do. It currently has the v8 magnum motor but mannn would I would doing a Hemi swap. Anywhere to get a full breakdown on what’s needed? Is it easier to buy a parts truck and take things off of that?
Are you going to weld and make a road edge on the motor mount you trimmed ? Because when you cut the road edge off you took some strength out of the mount
I know you've had issues with the 8spd transmission in the 4th Gen Rams but I'd like to see what steps you would take to overcome them and what aftermarket vendor's you would recommend for the third party computer to run the trans in a second gen.
This has inspired me my dad passed in march i gpt his old 98 ram single cab 6ft bed he bought brand new when i was 11 i plan on doing the 5.7 swap will your motor mounts work on it cause its a v6 not a v8 i appreciate any input
Hey man I have a 2004 Dakota crew cab and I just got my new headlights in and they have day time running lights on them. So my question to you is where did you splice these wires into on your Dakota to get them to work please?
I pull a work trailer with my 98' 1500 sport 4x4. It's got the 5.2l Magnum in it, which one would think would be at least ok on gas mileage, but that is not the case at all. it's in perfect condition, and so clean it looks new, with a rebuilt transmission about 30k back. The truck's got about 280k on it, with no mechanical issues so far. The fuel mileage is really burning a hole in my pocket relative to how hard I have to push the truck with a load, the torque is fine, but it's lacking HP, and it's immediately apparent when you go from just the truck, to a loaded trailer. I'd love to know what kind of mileage people are getting from the swaps to a Hemi, since I'm not a huge diesel fan, and yes I know the Cummins 6 would be great for this, but that's not for me. So, basically I wat the HEMI performance, I love a fast truck =) but I also want better mileage when towing, and it makes sense that a more powerful engine wouldn't work nearly as hard as my old 5.2 Mag, if anyone has number son how much the mileage suffers towing a trailer with a 1 ton minimum load, I'd be appreciative. My Gen 2 is with me for life, it was my Dad's until he passed in 2016, then I paid off what he owed to his girlfriend for it, and don't see any reason it won't last the rest of my life. Fuel costs, unfortunately are killing me tho, I'd rather put the money into performance parts than fuel, and I need a solution beyond dropping in a Cummins. Thanks.
If building it to drag race, 727 will be better than the 8. Lighter weight fewer shifts. Its mopars version of the turbo 400 and everyone uses the turbo 400
Not bad, however I would have put the bevel back at the top of the mount horns to act as a sort of catch safety just in case the bolt slips up the slot.
So your dakota has the truck 5.7 hemi in it? I been browsing the web too see if could do that cause I want too do that swap....I'm about too check your page out an see if you have the information I'm looking for and if not..could you give some input on how too go about it? I have a 2000 dodge dakota 2.5l manual but I wanna do a whole hemi swap and trans with a automatic floor shifter
Well wiring will be definitely different between the hellcat vs the 6.4/5.7. With the 6.4 and hellcat you might need a trans controller if you keep the 8 speed. Definitely gonna be simpler to do a 5.7
John CUT AWAY!!! i told you before , i had an SST dumped a ton of money in it nearly 100% original and i couldnt get $5K for it.. they arent as rare as people like to think they are.. its going to be SO MUCH BETTER with a hemi in it . i look forward to the entire build series... BTW i will be in your area 3rd and possibly 4th week of january, if you need an extra set of hands let me know
As soon as I seen your video and seen it it made me think about back in the day wondering where did you get that truck from by any chance did you get it from Georgia or do you know where it came from did it come from Georgia
Bravo John! I’m sitting in my garage looking at my SS/T and making her a bit nervous after watching this vid…😬 I assume the modified mounts would work on a 6.4 and 6.2 Hemi?
I got a 94 I love a 5.2 but not a lot of power . Was thinking of a reliable engen and my brother lives GM and he gave me the truck after a life altering situation. So I fill like to bridge the gap between warers I was finna LS it but I hate GM . Are the hemis reliable . I've hered alot of issues with them just being grate then driving down the road they lock up low mileage
Imo John, you are definitely NOT devaluing the sst by "restomoding" it.(NEVER thought I'd use that term for a 2nd gen lol) I'm the guy who understands and loves the ol sbm/bbm engines and know that they still have a place in the world but, you could spend every dime of the swap cash on a built 318/360 and barely get close to the stock eagle headed gen 3 hemi power numbers. Add a hci, and you will have over 400 RELIABLE rwhp. That's what purist don't get. Would I like to see you build a magnum sbd? You bet. But the modern hemi is just so much better. I think the trucks value will go UP. There is a ass for every seat at the end of the day
Who else thinks he can make a business with something like this. Gen 3 Hemi swapping these trucks
Absolutely right I discuss with him and he may lean to that decision by himself one day soon.
I think he does it for a living all ready
I want to do this to my 1998 Dodge Durango
Gen 3 hemis are Garbage, the magnum motor just needs more aftermarket support
The swap I’ve always wanted to see! Hell yeah🤘🏼
💪💪💪
@@BoostedMotorsports Yayyy lets go I wanna do this to mine lol
I have a white/blue SS/T right now with the engine out seriously interested in swapping in a 392
You definitely would make a killing selling 94-01 motor mounts. I’m ready to bring 94 Ram back to life
This was right on time, Im doing a Hemi swap on a 1998, I learned a lot.
Definitely need to do the swap into a 2nd gen Ram 4x4
An 8 speed swap video would be dope since there's none anywhere. Looking forward to seeing the 727 too
DEFINITELY interested in that as well.
The SST made it into the inner sanctum!!!! Can’t wait to see the progress on this truck should prove to be very interesting!!!!
The KING of Mopar swaps !! Good job !!
I am looking in to do that same swap on my 01 scsb and wish there was more support for this swap in second gens. I would 100% buy them if they were available.
100% would buy these mounts

Same here! Let’s get those mounts going!!
I would love one got a 2001 Ram 1500 with a 3.9L V6 and been looking into doing a swap can't wait to see how it comes out so I can do the same on my truck
Definitely interested in the mounts. Really interested in this build, looking foreword to future videos.

Same thing with the transmission that came factory in the 94-01/02s, you build them a little and they’re some of the best transmissions out there.
I think that it'd be awesome to provide those mounts, for purchase! I'm sure your subscribers would appreciate it, for future upgrades.
Thanks Gary! 💪
I definitely want a set of mounts. I want to do a 392 in my 99 regular cab sb
I would definitely be interested in a more detailed description of the modification done to the frame as well as these mounts! I would love to be able to swap in a hemi a tad easier than trying to match power to some degree by stroking out the 360 mag
Agreed
“Dont cut the sst what are you doing? Dont cut that thing its weird” had me laughing way too much than it should have
Glad someone is finally doing these,i have 2 second gens,2 door extended cab,ive been debating on re building the engine or putting a hemi in it
Definitely may need those mounts if I end up doing the swap in a 98 Laramie slt 4x4 swb reg cab. Had the 5.2 now
Yes I need a set of those mounts for a 2000 dodge 2500 4x4
With the trans or would you use the original 2nd gen transmission?
Great content John keep it comin,
I'm so glad I stumbled across your videos. I own a 97 sst as well and have a 5.7 hemi sitting in my garage
Welcome aboard!
What I love about your channel is you have all the mopars that were collectors to me the srts the RTS the ssts every vehicle that you have is either a monument for Mopar or is a to me in my eyes is a collector's item because there's not very many of them dude you have an awesome collection I love it man I dream of having what you have literally them vehicles are the same ones that I really want I talk about them all the time to my wife and my son one day one day
Am I the only one that thinks he should swap the Viper V10s, then put the 2nd gen viper motor in the SST with the 8speed transmission? Lol
This is so awesome. Just picked up a second gen Ram. If only I had the skills haha. Love the channel man.
I would definitely be interested in the mounts. Thought about doing this to my truck already.
Aww now I remember you now with the hellcat swap I gotta subscribe man I remember when you was working on that dakota lol hell yea!💪🏾💪🏾
Hell yes,I love the 2nd gen rams and can't wait to see how this turns out
19:51 looks like changing the back spark plugs on the driver side would be a pain because the brake booster is in the way
1 of my favorite garages on RUclips. Keep up the grind
That’s my dream, I have a 96 that my grandma pa bought new and sold to me for blue book in 06’. I have a modern 5.7 engine and trans and want to swap it… so I’m real curious as to how all this will work out for you. Great video!!!
I have a 96 Indy 500 truck. I would love a set of the mounts. Planning on hemi swapping it once my Magnum is complete
I have a 96 ram 1500 v6 that I would love to do a hemi swap too. It has sentimental value so I would love to get this upgrade going. Will this same swap and these same mounts work for me as well? It’s also a 2wd I would like to also convert it to a 4wd if that’s possible.

Niiiiiice! It's about time you get to work on that! I was starting to think you didn't get it.
Already looking forward to the next video 🤘🏽👍🏽
Prefect video. Very helpful and awesome to see a solution to get the hemi in relatively easy.
I'm planning on swapping in a 3rd Gen into my 98, and would love to buy those mounts!
Yes please let’s get some mounts made!!
Just got a new subscriber. This is exactly what I want to do with my 97!
Out here doing God's work.
Y

This is great stuff the electrical is what would stress me good info
if you pull the radiator supports and front bumper would make it easy
Definitely would be interested in the mounts. I been thinking this would be a good upgrade for my 01
Definitely want the engine mounts!!
This chat has a weird accent 🤣
One suggestion would be use all 6.4 stuff.
Intake manifold, cam, possibly heads, 6.4 exhaust manifolds.
I have a 98 1500 single cab 2 wheel drive Ram been in a fire and throttle body etc was melted off top of motor. was only a 5.2 magnum and I have purchased a 2005 5.7 Hemi and trans out of a C300 car. nice work looking good i dont need the mounts but it would be awesome if they were avalible for purchese..
Alright! New build time? Cool!
Love the vids keep up the good work
I'm waiting too because I have an 03 QC SLT I'd love to swap a 5.7 6.4 or HC!!!
In the same boat. Would love to keep the 8spd and figure out the transfer case situation.
Enjoy the video. love the modification you do.
Thumbs UP!!
Yes on the mounts for sure.
Will those mounts also work for a 04 hemi swap? It it generally the same as a gen3?
Is the 6.4 intake a worthy upgrade, maybe coupled with the bigger tb?
I want to hemi swap a B3500 van. Hopefully, the mounts get made. I assume it would be roughly the same chassis side mounts even though the van is a 1 ton chassis with a 5.9 magnum.
If I still had my old 96 Ram with 318 5 speed. I would have definitely done a hemi swap.
You are the man!Love these videos.
What did you use for engine mounts and trans. I am in the process of doing the same swap
Yes on the mounts I'll take the first ones
Yes i would definitely like to purchase a pair..
Can’t wait to see what all has to go down
I’d buy a whole kit to if you made them lol
Yeah buddy the shop looks complete with the John Deere rider in there haha👌🏁
I knew it was missing something! 🤣
im about to hemi swap my 2500 truck i have a sst that may get after the saftey thanks for the details
I’m buying my Granddads 98 1500 that he’s had since brand new. I remember it coming home when I was 10 now 25 yrs later it’s mine and this is exactly what I want to do. Thanks for test fitting that for me. I've got a hemi sitting here. What did you do special to mate the 727 to the hemi? Can a 46re be used?
This has inspired me my dad passed in march i gpt his old 98 ram single cab 6ft bed he bought brand new when i was 11 i plan on doing the 5.7 swap will your motor mounts work on it cause its a v6 not a v8 i appreciate any input
Hey man I have a 2004 Dakota crew cab and I just got my new headlights in and they have day time running lights on them. So my question to you is where did you splice these wires into on your Dakota to get them to work please?
Damn good job looking forward to seeing it dune
I need info on these engine mounts. Doing a 6.2 hellcat in my 1997 ram.
Does the holley engine mounts actually work?
I love your videos I have a 2014 Dodge Ram 5.7 and I love it what spark plugs do you recommend me for it ?
I like it !!!
Thanks Clay! So much room for activities in this bay! 😂
I pull a work trailer with my 98' 1500 sport 4x4. I have a 2007 ram TRX short bed single cab 5.7 hemi was this truck a rare one to
Are you going to put rack and pinion steering in this build?
Not bad, however I would have put the bevel back at the top of the mount horns to act as a sort of catch safety just in case the bolt slips up the slot.
So your dakota has the truck 5.7 hemi in it? i look forward to the entire build series... BTW i will be in your area 3rd and possibly 4th week of january, if you need an extra set of hands
let me know
Yes build a kit for the 2nd gen.
As soon as I seen your video and seen it it made me think about back in the day wondering where did you get that truck from by any chance did you get it from Georgia or do you know where it came from did it come from Georgia
John Deere needs a mopar swap lol 🤣
Sweet are you going to run it stand alone just to get going also are you keeping the internet stock
You living the dream
I need these mounts for my 98 SS/T.
Do you think there's any chance of running the Dakota longtubes? Or any other longtube headers?
Bravo John! I’m sitting in my garage looking at my SS/T and making her a bit nervous after watching this vid…😬 I assume the modified mounts would work on a 6.4 and 6.2 Hemi?
I'd cut the mounts off of the frame, center the motor and fab up new mounts and call it a day.
id be a customer if these were for sale for sure
I saw a video…someone said they put a hellcat supercharger on a 5.7 hemi would that really work ?
Needs a comma in the title. I was looking for a 2nd gen hemi. Lol
😂
I got a 94 I love a 5.2 but not a lot of power . Was thinking of a reliable engen and my brother lives GM and he gave me the truck after a life altering situation.
