    Been driving for years and never seen that 5th wheel set up. Drove fuel tankers for 20+ years until retirement. They are less than 11ft in height. Now do an agency trunking job 2 days a week with a double decker 16ft 1" . Pretty daunting at first but you soon get used to it. They use high spec tractor units various makes but they all do over 1000ks a day 24/7. Amazing. So much difference to the fuel job as you don't drive very far. My 2 days are both 10 hour drives.

    I drive a 70 plate class 2 timber truck with hiab and at first hated it but now love it. The smart cruise control is mind blowing: I drove from midhurst to chichester the other day and as an experiment let ppc do the work. Despite being on winding roads the truck was at the correct speed for every corner, speed limit point and even changed down before climbing over the South Downs. Obviously I was covering the pedals but I didn’t touch them for 7 miles!

      Suggest signing up for at least 5-7 agencies....the lowest paying remains Driver Hire but that's usual where offices are franchises....go for owner driver operations as often, it's the owner that is liked by the transport firms so they'll pay for the better drivers is...clean cabs after shift, screens and truck sorted along with no smoking...seems the way to the best pay.

    I am leaving the military in couple of months, in the middle of doing my HGV class 1, any advice in how to get a job with no experience or do you recommend agency work, and what’s it like getting agency work with no experience? Thanks

    • @TRUCKERKEV
      @TRUCKERKEV  2 года назад +1

      Firstly I recommend you watch my other video on how to get HGV jobs in 2022, then I would utilise that knowledge to join a few agencies that take on new drivers, secondly I would start work immediately on the weekends to try and build at least six months of experience as most jobs require 6, thirdly I would subscribe 😂😂😂 if you have any questions ask away mate on here or insta

      Agency work is good to start off to get some experience but it can be a hit or a miss to start with. But most companys nowadays take on new drivers regardless of experience due to there being so few in the industry now. Just stick a cv in to all your local companies see what happens 👍

      I work for Dpd and they take on new drivers you have to do a weeks course all paid for hotel and everything then you go out with another driver for a week then your on your own.

    Been passed my c+e for 5 years now (payed for by myself at 3.5k start to finish😪🤣) been with the same company full time since. Work for a pritty big company in north of scotland that deals with all the major distillerys, doing bi-products waste to bio plants to make gas/electricity and then bio fertiliser liquids called digetate to farms and are own company spreads for farmers with an umbilical spreading system this is manly what i do for the company. We also do a bulkers, vans, pump tanks, vacuum tankers, walking floors, whisky transport, pure spirits also. Been on work saterday to Wednesday shift for 4 years and wouldn't change it the money aspect is amazing. Make £900 topline fir 60h a week🤷🏽‍♂️ so cant complain and only have to deal with the office 3 days a week which is a major bonus haha. Keep up the good work lad👍

    I came across your video by accident. Those hydraulic leavers are for raising and droping the 5th wheel, depending what trailer you going to connect. Nothing to do with connecting or disconnecting it. I was on hub 5 at the same time last Saturday and there is a good chance you worked for same agency as me.

    • @TRUCKERKEV
      @TRUCKERKEV  2 года назад

      It also says it’s for locking the 5th wheel in place, as per the paper work they made me sign 🤔, and if you where there you prob run into that hideous queue 🤮

    • @przemyslawmroz9492
      @przemyslawmroz9492 2 года назад

      @@TRUCKERKEV left lever for unlocking/locking the pins in the base of 5th wheel, right to raise or drop it. Don't need to touch it if connecting same size trailer. In practice I can use it in lower position for weeks in a row if I don't have to connect to single decker. Queue is part of this job I'm afraid.
