I passed in August, signed up to an agency, they sent me to an RDC with potential of being taken on by them full time after 12 weeks. I've done 23 shifts in total and had to come away from it all because my head was just buggered with anxiety and stress. Every single shift has been a complete nightmare. Never knowing when I'm in work, never knowing when to sleep or get up, never knowing what shifts I'm on until the day. Faults, broken trailers, breakdowns, road closures, diversions. 8 hours turn into 12 because of just one thing not going to plan. Sitting outside gates for 2 hours waiting for someone to answer the bell. I've applied to go back to my old job driving little vans 8 hours a day. Good money in HGV, but huge amounts of stress comes with it. Mostly it's caused by things completely out of your control, but it's you that has to deal with it and it's you putting in 12 or more hours a day and getting 4 hours sleep a night. Your license on the line, you getting points, you getting fines, you getting blamed for being late. Just so you all know, whenever the M6 is closed, that's me. I did that just to piss off some random store manager.

To pronounce Iveco correctly, say Ih-vecko; not Eye-veeko as most Brits say. Also, this video is good info for people thinking of doing agency work. I do agency Class 1 work and everything you say is true / helpful.

Hi Kev, thank you for the videos it gives a good insight, you still in the Tidworth area ? Did my HGV for settlement but find it hard to get work as they want a year and 35hrs😖 settling for van work ATM.

most of the hubs are crap and talk to drivers like dirt, the best i've found are pallet track wolverhampton and fortec watford gap. Still though it's a horrible shift the 7pm starts, i couldn't hack it, did a year then went on to livestock which is my dream job

So question if you finish driving at half past 4 but didn't finish till paper work till half past 5 and then started your new shift following day at say 7am how would that be put into tacho machine

Asshole My hate for the new rush off evrey one an there dog Wanting to drive trucks Bearing in mind for 30 fkn years before the supposed shortage of drivers. There was a shortage of drivers. Just came across this video and pretty much in the exact same boat, signed up to the agency on Wednesday and booked into first shift with DPD on Saturday. £30 an hour for all hours and based in the north east…. Should be able to clear off my mortgage once I finish the shift 👀🤣

I'm about to start a job as a driver again after 25 years of doing other jobs. I started riding when the tachograph was just introduced and never worked with a digital tacho. Did Code 95 though but your explanation made it really clear to me. In fact you made it look very simple: just be calm and read what you're doing before you hit the okay button. It's all on the display. I hope it is that simple in practice😉👊🏻

That's a basic maneuver... blind side reversing into traffic takes skill and a pinch of Irish luck. Aswell as a traffic Marshal.

I passed my class 1 on yhe 11th october and never got shown anything abiut a tachograph 😂 Now, I've got an interview tomorrow morning for a class 1 job driving for some grain farm.. it's a full time position and hours can reach 48hrs a week. 😅 wish me luck in regards of tbr tachograph.

I had one, it was the biggest load of crap I've owned. I sent it back and bought a Garman, 100% better then thr Tom Tom.

New pass, recently started applying... Have to say, aside from very basic bits and bobs... The tacho stuff baffles me. Barely get any tuition on this, guess or hope watching videos and time will be friendly on this for me.

What is wrong with the apps? I have been using co pilot and it is just fine, cost is £86 per year which I feel is quite expensive for an app. Been experimenting with Road Lords which is free and it is OK although Copilot is better.
