WOW! That is some workout Michael has to endure!! I'm not surprised he has had enough now and wants to hang up his Jammers!! Good luck MP for your last Olympics and for your future. Always remembered as the greatest swimmer in the world of all time
update from 9 yrs ago: 23 gold, 3 silver , 2 bronze :) the best olympian ever....actually the greatest athlete ever in any sport in the whole wide world..
***** I personally lift every day, but I don't think it's realistic to train every day from zero days a week, it would also put a tremendous amount of strain on the body. He can start slowly for more succes in my opinion
It is, if you're not doing much physical labor to your body throughout the day. Amazing how much this sport can alter your lifestyle if you really put your heart into it.
The "doctor" might be wrong about the code, BUT you are wrong about the working out more to stay in shape. It is different for everyone how much they work, also depends what type of shape. If you are talking about swimming shape, once you get in shape, you just gotta maintain it. Having ADHD has nothing to do with you having to work more to stay in shape.
at least 50% of a swimmer's workout is outside the pool, you can only build that much in water, it's neccessary to have a lot of dry-land excercise to build strenght, flexibility and to recover
WOW! Who ever knew that UnderArmourUnderArmourUnderArmour did so many amazing things while wrapping a thin bio of Michael Phelps around a weak, repetitive film?
In this video: its not about how sexy, fast or strong Michael is? ... this guy tells us how can we do the impossible itself. when we keep working hard on something continually with Insistence and determination it will be defiantly done….. this is Inspiring
Yeah, it is. It's what the average person would eat over four or five days. And like his coach said, this 12,000 calorie number is likely been highly exaggerated. FYI, 12,000 calories = Approx. 22 Big Macs from McDonalds
Retro armchair quarterback: Smoked by Ryan Lochte in 400IM. Compression gear causes muscle atrophy, from what i remember. Fat is buoyant, and that was the whole advantage to the banned body suits. Cutting his BMI down by burning fat to replace it with muscle? He didnt need that. Less cals? Nope.
Yea I know, i'm a swimmer and probably eat around triple it. Was just saying you said average is 3000 calories i thought average for average person was closer to 2000
he ate 8000-10 000 calories in prep for 2008 it was recommended that he eats that much which he said in between training to get that amount in he just shovels in as much food as he can. Also remember that he eats pretty healthy so these 8000-10 000calories are even more impressive as it would be through foods such as pasta, rice, sandwiches, fruit, vegetables....etc as they're lower in fat than maccas big macs which pound for pound fat has the highest amount of calories.
"the better the gear, the better you swim" sooo wrong... i mean it helps, but even if you buy the best and most expensive gear you arent automatically a pro... typical advertising sentence.
+D4N1L01994 It is true. Of course gear is not the only thing that contributes to how fast you swim but it does. He didn't say gear automatically makes you pro you dumb fuck.
Honestly, Initially I was surprised at all the time dedicated to the underamour brand commercial in this video.......until I read that this video was from Yahoo.
+SkylarPro I don't think you realize how hard it'd be. He's eating 10,000 calories+ daily just to maintain his current weight. He's swimming countless hours a day burning just as many calories. 10,000+ calories in "perfect-eating" food would be near impossible to consume. Most anything is healthy food if you're maintaining the lifestyle and know what you're doing.
he literally said in the video he's no longer eating junk food and as many calories as he used to, he'll have a burger if he feels like it, but he doesn't just shovel them down like he used to and he takes vitamin supplements
actually what you call "calorie" is a "kcal" and that means: 1 kcal = 1000 calories. And an average person´s uptake is not 3000 calories, but 3000 kcals ----> 3 mio calories.
If he loses weight he would lose fat but he would also lose muscle (because of his extremely low body fat percentage). Therefore, he would lose weight but he would also lose power.
I work at a hospital and I am quite serious, it is code for my kid isn't perfect. Yes there are 3 doctors in my family, none of them think it is real and it is certainly not.
How much did Under Armor pay for this spot...seriously? He should do a mattress commercial as well. I don't sleep much, but when I do decide to sleep, I sleep on a Serta Beauty Rest Mattress and Ralph Lauren 100% Pima Cotton 600 thread count sheets. I can't say exactly why this helps, but when you don't sleep on a Serta with Ralph Lauren sheets you notice you have more off days.

I love this man. He is magical. Very humble.
Being powerful but humble at the same time makes him even more great.
God of the water, this is Michael Phelps.
WOW! That is some workout Michael has to endure!! I'm not surprised he has had enough now and wants to hang up his Jammers!! Good luck MP for your last Olympics and for your future. Always remembered as the greatest swimmer in the world of all time
Can't wait to see him compete in 2016 Olympic games. I am sure he will win at least 7 medals 5 in golds. God bless
man you guessed exactly the number of medals hahaha =) 5 golds
man, he didn't even sweat a drop in all that workout, this man is a BEAST
When you realize this is an ad...
Looks like one big commercial for Under Armour..
+TheOne42 it's called endorsements, google it
It actually is, search up phelps under armor
Michael Phelps: 18 gold. 2 silver. 2 bronze. Incredible.
update from 9 yrs ago: 23 gold, 3 silver , 2 bronze :) the best olympian ever....actually the greatest athlete ever in any sport in the whole wide world..
he wasnt trying to kill the other guy, it was just for stretching purposes. love to see you box him
Michael Phelps is a natural athlete. If he played football or lacrosse, he would got a Division I scholarship and probably go pro.
athletes must feel so powerful
They do! Try training 3-4 times a week for something you like, even weight training/running, you will feel so much better and more athletic!
***** I personally lift every day, but I don't think it's realistic to train every day from zero days a week, it would also put a tremendous amount of strain on the body. He can start slowly for more succes in my opinion
only one day in a whole month ??? dude don't care who you are your body needs rest, at least one or two days a week
ViscaElBarca Yeah, 1 day a week is a straight minimum
He's a grinder, not a slacker.
Phelps is a tremendous athlete and person.
Greatest Olympian ever.
i have watched him since i was a kid its weird hes retired now
It is, if you're not doing much physical labor to your body throughout the day. Amazing how much this sport can alter your lifestyle if you really put your heart into it.
Inspirador.........lo maximo !!
12,000 calories per day is insane! I have been on a diet so I don't think I have eaten that many calories in the last week and a half.
his body is a machine!!

What about his swimming?
at least 50% of a swimmer's workout is outside the pool, you can only build that much in water, it's neccessary to have a lot of dry-land excercise to build strenght, flexibility and to recover
All this stuff i related to swimming in some way or another

MARAVILLOSO VIDEO . ME ENCANTA VERLO ENTRENAR
He benched 375 that's nuts
he looks so baked
hahahaha the "science" in this video is hilarious. The bit about the compression gear had me in stitches
Claiming that something had you in "stitches" is not an argument. Claiming that something is hilarious, is not an argument.
he's so adorable c:
greatest of all time
The King of all fishes love that
wastching it after 9 years
ILOVE YOU phelps
m inspired...as a swimmer,as a swim coach...PHELPS
how does he not have an amazing toned body
He's white
@@kevinbarrett7699 huh??
I might actually have to agree with you on that one... I feel fine without my meds
From vietnam with love
not sure but me and my brother have adhd and our doctors were always worried about being underweight from the high metabolisms
He has such a high metabolism not just from the workouts but is also associated with ADHD
Does sports wear really help at all?
I feel like clothes hinder the body to breath.

At 7:30 you can really see how big his hands are !!!1

Where can I get an under armor recharge suit?? They're sold out on the under armor website
The King of all Fishes
amazing how an athlete workout for a swimmer does not mention the swimming side one bit...
2:32 and 3:08 are the best parts :)
"the better the gear, the better you swim" sooo wrong... i mean it helps, but even if you buy the best and most expensive gear you arent automatically a pro... typical advertising sentence.

+Duy Anh Le Nguyen Learn to read before you call someone a dumb fuck. Desperate "contra at any cost" comment.
I did. He basically said gear has no benefits. Which is wrong. So, you dumb fuck, where was I wrong?
okay all, shut the fuck up and move on.
5:21 to 5:23 the Debbie Phelps smile = Mama's boy
wow thats pretty epic
don't smoke weed you might becom the greatest olympian of all time
Legend!
thanks bro!!
you are amazing 😍😍😍
And now I feel like a lazy fat person. Thanks bro.
Look Good, sleep good, swim good babay
thanks for the recap... tell me, why do you thing we're all here?
Good video. Hated the shill for Under Armour.
He holds his breath on alot of the compression phase. Good workout though!
i really love his hair like that...its so hot
Very good👍🏽
Honestly, Initially I was surprised at all the time dedicated to the underamour brand commercial in this video.......until I read that this video was from Yahoo.
Yep, even got the waistband of his drawers was advertising Under Armour.
If you're the average human being. Swimmers, especially pros training for competitions and the Olympics for years on end, pretty much triple that.
Recommended daily intake is 2000-2500 calories.
Super
He would make a good Flash.
does a compression suit help recovery truly? Would it work for amateur swimmers too? Some days I just felt dragging myself out of bed next morning.
Yes they do
so one needs to wear it during sleep(8 hours) or after training for a few hours?
Jason Lang quite a few research that says it doesn't, font know how accurate this is now
sooo... junk-eating phelps still became the best olympian of all time. I'd love to see the perfect-eating michael :D
+SkylarPro I don't think you realize how hard it'd be. He's eating 10,000 calories+ daily just to maintain his current weight. Forte you're wrong. there are many healthy things (or at least in the realm of healthy) which are very rich in calories.
+SkylarPro skylar, michaels the best swimmer of all time and you're just a bitch. I think he knows more than you do about this.
+Forte he should just eat fruit and veg and top up the calories with sugar
actually what you call "calorie" is a "kcal" and that means: 1 kcal = 1000 calories.

That shit boxing made him get 18 gold medals
wow that looks like alot of work
If he loses weight he would lose fat but he would also lose muscle (because of his extremely low body fat percentage). Therefore, he would lose weight but he would also lose power.
Great!!! But what does the trainer say at 1:33???
1k subs. not 10k, 100k, but 1 mil views! !
does anyone know what bands he is using @1.49 and where to get them?
...so this is just an advertisement for under armour, thanks salesman dude. wow what a difference your impute makes
Whats the under armour compression suit called that he's wearing?
@Choppingwoodonline Finally! Someone gets it!
Recharge Energy Suit
Interesting how his face has aged dramatically since 2008. He's starting to look more and more like his mom.
i´d say, i eat by approximately between 3 and 3.5 million per day on a normal lazy day.
Are you kidding? an *epic meal time* finished item is only like 14.000 XP
1:05-2:57 song?
"All I'm trying to do is have him be able to keep his back, his spine in a neutral position and be able to connect his shoulder to opposite hip."

The train didn't work out very well. Because The result in London certainly is not as expressive as that in 2008.
You have to be very single minded to be an elite athlete - often remind myself of that fact (inbetween eating pork pies) Lol! ;-)
almost looks like an ad for under armour..
