I'm going from working "regular" jobs for 10 years ( I'm 27 ) and just discovered seasonal work recently, and I'm starting at Grand Canyon in 3 1/2 weeks. I'm so excited
It's been 3 years since this comment, what has happened since then. Did you enjoy the work and pursue it further, or did you realize it wouldn't be for you and went to do something else?
Working in a national park is amazing, I work for NSW National parks and wildlife service in Australia as a permanent field officer. Best job ever by far in this country, I always have people say I have the best job ever. So to everyone thinking about applying do it make a career of it you won't regret it. Just make sure you have the right mindset, to care for the environment and protect indigenous (native) lands.
I got an offer to work in Yellowstone this season but couldn't go cause I was given a full time employment here in New York City. Its a good job, but no longer my dream job as i imagined back in my high school days. Working in Yellowstone is my new dream job and someday soon, I will work there by Gods will. Life is short and I wanna fulfill with soul enriching experiences like these ones. Making an annually salary isnt all that exciting anymore. Your videos are awesome, keep up the good work. I definitely recommend people do these kinds of things
This'll tells you I'm old but back in 1998 I drove from Topeka Kansas all the way to Zion National Park to work at the lodge. I'm 45 and I must say you are absolutely right that you never forget you never lose those images and those moments that you had while you're working at the National Park. The only thing that's on my mind more often than Zion National Park are my kids. My son is 18 and it would be a dream of mine to get him to live and or work with me even his choice of National Park.
im 17 and kicked off my summer by going to zion, and i am forever changed. ive never felt so inspired to finally have a goal in my life and i cant wait to achieve it
Love the video, and I would absolutely agree with your points. I actually work for Xanterra at The Oasis at Death Valley. It's absolutely awesome 😁 been here almost a year and a half.
I was a Raft Guide for 2 seasons in the Nantahala National Forest - some of best experiences of my life. When I retire I hope to find myself back on the river and in the forest everyday :)
Yes I applied for XANTERRA for the 2021 fall season. And I did apply with Delaware North for winter in Grand Canyon and California lodge is hope this works out
If you are a wrangler can you work year round? Edit: god bless... at least I know when I leave everything behind and go to a national park I wont always be forever single.
@@CasuallyCarolyn thanks for the quick reply! Last night I made a big decision and I make those weird "this is how my life is going to go" decisions at 1 am a lot. That sounds great really haha. Better than just a few months!
Hi, I stumbled across your RUclips channel for seasonal travel/work. I have done it before but I do have 1 specific question. I know you have mentioned that you have worked in Yellowstone area. This is a random question and I am sorry I advance but how is the air there? Is it a super dry type of air? Would you recommend bringing or shipping there one of those super small humidifiers for my employee housing room if I am offered a job?
Great video! Do you have any specific jobs or places you recommend for a young person looking to make new friends and have some fun in a new place? Thanks!
@@jwlxbfkgfjwcjx The dorms are pretty basic, a lot of them were built in the 70s so they aren't the most aesthetically pleasing, but they do the job! I really like the area around Yellowstone. It's beautiful and there's a ton of things you can do!
This is awesome and inspiring! Two questions though - I'm almost 29, is that still an ok age for a girl to do something like this solo?? Also is it possible to get your own room (I couldn't handle sharing a room for someone for months at this point, I'm an introvert!!) Thanks!
Of course! 29 is so young. It's possible to do this solo basically your whole life! As for getting a single room, I'm not sure how you go about that. It would probably be best to shoot Xanterra an email once you get the job and ask about it
@@CasuallyCarolyn Thanks!! Yeah, the dorm room thing is about the only thing stopping me from doing it! I do want to build up a new community of friends but I reeeally need my private space as an introvert, so that I can recharge to be around people. Thanks for the tip.
Hi There! What country are you working in national park? Im interested to know about it from you.. I just subscribe to your channel coz i like to know about that job..

What did you think of your time working at the Grand Canyon? How was it?

I'm watching this as reasearch for my novel, but I'll admit it makes me a bit envious. Good on you.
I say go for it! Apply and see what happens.
Assuming life circumstances allow.
Thank so much, helps a lot, planning on heading out to Yellowstone after high school!! 🤘
Thanks for making these videos! You and Timothy Ward helped me make up my mind and I think I'll be spending my spring and summer in Wrangell-St Elias!

God bless you friend, I hope you make it
Yup, that’s it! I’m going into the woods.
Thanks, great video. Currently hired at Yosemite National Park. I quit my full-time job in retail. I'm excited to leave the city.
Jose Gomez more power to you. Congrats. May I ask, what qualifications did you need?

"Unless you plan on buying a crap-ton of souvenirs with (a National Park logo)". You just described by childhood.

Do you still work there??
I was a Raft Guide for 2 seasons in the Nantahala National Forest - some of best experiences of my life. When I retire I hope to find myself back on the river and in the forest everyday :)
I'm going to work at grand teton and I'm super nervous but this definitely helped! Thank you soo much!!
Just had my interview for laundry work at the yellow stone national park. A little nervous but very excited lol

I AM SOLD!! I'm 18 and this is definitely an exciting lil career and a getaway job I want to pick up in the future. this seems the best
Time to go check out Yellowstone
Thank you for sharing your insight, appreciate it
Thanks for the Montana tips
All of the above!!! Definitely mental health
I like your attitude!
Nice vid. Thanks for posting.
Great video, you rock hard 🎸
I have a question where would I start ? Like how do I start not doing college and being in the military
2:15, 6:02!
Wow you washed your hair only four times?! I could never do that mine gets greasy after one day😂😂
It was one of the more regrettable decisions I made while in the park! Lol
I grow my hair out. It's ok day 1 and VERY slightly less so on day 2. It gets weird by day 3 and then by day 4 of not washing it's greasy again.
If you are a wrangler can you work year round?
Edit: god bless... at least I know when I leave everything behind and go to a national park I wont always be forever single.
I think wranglers are only in the spring, summer, and fall!

Did you need to study anything or get certified before you started working as a ranger?
HOW DO YOU GET A JOB AT A NATIONAL PARK?!?!
Go apply on Xanterra's website!!
what is other great jobs for people that dont want to do office jobs
You could always be a server, work in a cafe, be a porter, or work in housekeeping!
How does someone go about getting a job in a National Park?
I love you lol you seem like a good friend.
May I know what qualifications needed?

Hi there I’m heading up to work security at Mammoth. I’ve looked for ppl who worked security. Do you know anything about those jobs?
Great video! Do you have any specific jobs or places you recommend for a young person looking to make new friends and have some fun in a new place? Thanks!
Uh...what does it pay and what was the actual work?
It depends on the job you apply for, your experience, the park, and much more! There are a lot of variables because there are a lot of different jobs.
Have you ever been to the tower falls area?
Yes! It's pretty cool!
@@CasuallyCarolyn like are the dorms nice lol? What's your thoughts on the area

I'm Mexican and currently live un México , how can i become a Ranger??
Do you know anything about how covid will affect seasonal work in 2021?
I just got a seasonal job that I’m starting in a few weeks and I heard back from a bunch! Seems like they’re still thriving
i wanna write a story about park rangers
Good luck
A story about park rangers would be awesome.
Can you have a good career in a national park?

hey umm can you relate if you want to be a park ranger
Did you have to go to college to work there ?
Hi, this is a super late response, but no! No college experience required! (:

Hi!👋
Hey can I use biology to as a undergraduate
I'd rather be in the freezing ice and snow lol
Only 6 months? Are you talking part time or permanent?
It's usually seasonal!
Yes....sounds super fun but at what point do you get a real job?
What's a "real" job? Working 9 to 5 or similar shift, being stressed, being overworked, under paid, under appreciated, and surrounded by bills?
