It's simple, but they made it look so complicated on the website. Simply remember the 1:3 ratio. If your height is 300 then the width should be 900. Simply put these numbers manually and keep the signature in the center as possible. I did that resize in Paint 3D and worked like a charm. No annoying issues. In today's generation, they can easily design something that would allow this right on the webpage but again India is busy running support for other Countries. Lame!
I am getting message as format or file name is not valid (photo is in jpj and signature is in jpej). I can see applicant photo or signature is as per the instruction but when click upload I get that error message
Did you try both in jpeg format? Also dimensions are important so pls follow steps I mentioned in video n that may help..do let me know how it goes ..:)
Hello ForTheGeeks - Thanks for the video . I dont have a digital copy of my passport photo. Can I take a picture of it through my phone and crop it or do you recommend scanning the photo and then cropping it in Paint
Hi Pranay, personally, I would go with the later i.e scanning the photo and cropping it in paint. Again it's just my personal point of view. At the end of the day, as you know , what matters is that photo uploaded should meet the VFS standards and accepted by them... :-)
@@ForTheGeeks Do you think a photo-to-pdf app like Notebloc would be okay to digitalize the passport photo? But then what about the format, it would have to be jpeg/jpg, right?
@@yyvetteI haven't used it personally. Having said that, I guess it should be fine. At the end of the day, what is required is a photo that matches the VFS requirements. Yes photo needs to be in jpg/jpeg.I think even png should do.There are multiple online free web tools as well to convert any format into another (eg png to jpeg etc)
Thank you so much for the video. Any idea what it means when the message is, "Your Application has already registered at Indian Mission. Upload/Re-upload of Applicant's image/signature is not permissible."??
glad my video you found it helpful 😊 Very tough to tell without knowing the context completely .But my guess is that you have already uploaded photo n signature and submitted as well..therefore you cannot reupload photo . What's the issue exactly
Hey thanks for the video. Can you answer my question please: Does my signature in OCI have to match with the current U.S Passport's signature? Please let me know.
@@ForTheGeeks thanks. But I just found out that there is no signature on the new U.S Passport. So I don't think it really matters. Or instead does the signature have to match with the naturalization certificate? I don't think so..
Thanks for the video! I have my Indian passport that says, ‘’ cancelled due to acquiring foreign nationality “. Is it mandatory to apply for a renunciation certificate too in addition to having the renounced passport in order to apply for the OCI card?
@@ForTheGeeks hi when I upload the photo and signature it tells me to crop when it is crop it lits green but when I press upload it says some problem with the format is detected

If I remember correctly,I just had written 'No Signature' in the signature section for my kid.. still if you wish you can clarify with VFS for latest info
I did follow your steps and when I upload my docs it correctly aligns too, but when I click on final upload it says "Format or name of File is not valid". What should I do?? Its irritating 😒
Yeah it's sometimes frustrating..I can comprehend...but what's the exact error you getting..what format is it that you are trying to upload..also what's the size of document ?
Can I take a screenshot of my passport photo and signature and is it on the OCI document or do I need to go to actual photo? Please can someone please reply A.S.A.P.
Thank you for the detailed video. A quick query on uploading signature image in case of minor applicant. Am I supposed to upload parent signature in case of minor (less than 1 year old) applicant? or Am I supposed to upload left hand thumb impression image as a minor signature? I don't see any sample documentation for this case in the checklist. Kindly advise.
If you are saying under the baby's image, then you just need to put 'no signature' .but again better to drop VFS an email to check.good luck n let me know how it goes :)
@@ForTheGeeks I need your help on OCI, can you please provide yr number or email address, I am unable to get this signature thing, I live in Toronto, pls help bro
why VFS charging exorbitant and loot rate for call $2.48 per minute and uploading charges. only 5 minutes free for every week. how much anybody can talk for 5 minutes? Nobody in world charges for call. I contacted consulate General and he says it is not in our control. who is controller of VFS?
sorry but i didn't know that . Not really sure who is the controller of VFS..I would have thought like you said consulate General. May be just send them an email ( i know it's easy to talk though)
I did a 'no signature' for my little one's OCI. And the application was approved. When it comes to Indian passport cancellation then it has to match what there in indian passport ( normally thumb impression) . But for OCI no signature will do according to me

Very well explained
I am told the OCI needs to be non-white background. How to do that? All places click pictures in white background?
I reckon it's white background only as far as I remember
To bring the oci photo into my computer, do i just take a picture of the actual photo.
I actually got it from Australia post..used digital copy
