Even though I use Mac daily for many things, I am not sure why I couldn't think of such an easy way to resize images, though resizing is my everyday job. Thanks much! I should have see this video first before wasting 45 dollars.

Hi Suja Just like to ask you when we fill the form in it asks for when you were granted Oci. My daughter was originally granted oci back in 2010 and then we renewed it again in 2015 when got new passport. Now she's 20 we need to renew oci again when do l use when it asks when she was granted oci 2010 or the one in here booklet issued in 2015
Nice video .. easily explained . It’s pain in the ass to deal with this form when you are not computer literate like me . Oci can be made so simple that this bullshitting of uploading online photos n signatures. Should think about people like me who are not good at computers

As per OCI instructions it says, "With a view to update the data regarding new passports obtained by the OCI cardholder, it has been decided that he/she shall upload a copy of the new passport containing his/her photo and also a latest photo on the online OCI portal, each time a new passport is issued up to 20 years of age and once after completing 50 years of age." So if an applicant gets new US passports between the ages of 20 and 50, is there no need to upload a copy of the new passport itself? We can still travel using the new passport and the OCI which will have an old passport number? I am not sure how will India immigration correlate the information.

Hello Suja. I would like to know what to do when OCI application online gets rejected due to Digital Photo uploaded incorrectly. I received an auto email about rejection due to photo signature. How would I reupload that again and it won't let me do that online with my Passport and Efiling Number. Do I need to apply everything again? Please advise. Thank you so much.
Hi Suja, my kid was 19 years 8 months old when he got his new passport. He already has a OCI card associated with the previous expired passport. I am trying to update the passport information but I do not see an option to select "Passport Particulars Updation" option under "Services for updation of Information in OCI records". Any idea why? Is he considered 20 years old since he was 19 years 8 months when he got his new passport? He is 23 years old now. Please advice.

When you cropped your signature has been cut. It is not allowed. You need to have whole signature in the aspect ratio of 1:3
Thanks, I was about to inform you in previous video about this new rule but you have covered here! And one more common question we have - whether parents has to self sign all the photocopies - like, father has to sign father documents and mom to sign all mother document. Nowhere in the rules i see this but many videos in youtube mention that. Pls advise.

Hello, When I upload sig image with correct resolution (200x67) and size, it says aspect ratio is not right. When I rotate the image, initially it accepts it but at the next step it says 'does not meet requirement'. After multiple attempts, could use help.

Hello Suja, In the application form I see the uploaded image of minor and thumb impression all populated. Is that expected? OR are we supposed to affix the photograph anywhere on the application form? Also, is there any checklist that will be shared with us when we finish the payment step on vfs profile account? OR do we need to go by the list of documents that are called out in "Instructions for filling application form" (Point # 8)? Please guide.
It’s all populated in the application, but just paste a physical photo over digital image .. you will get checklist to your email once your done with payment

I have a question to ask you? For OCI photograph , if I use the maximum dimensions 1500 pixels then it becomes to big and If i use minimum dimensions 200 pixels it becomes too small. Same goes for the signature as well. I am using mac but , I don't see which program you used for editing images and photo.

hi, when you click add new customer page on vfs website while filling out the OCI application it is asking for father's name but the details to be given are of the US passport and US passport does not have father's name anywhere. what should I do?

hi @Suja, I am applying kids OCI, the photo i upload digitally has kid smiling with visible teeth. I have completed the submission and had notarized. Now for prints i noticed the kids should have mouth closed in photo, can i attach updated prints on the application to fix it.

It was mentioned that the photo background shouldn't be WHITE in the instructions (In the PopUp where we click 'I have read the Instructions'), but if we get the passport size photo in Walgreen or Walmart the usual background they use is white and the reference photograph background in this video is also white. Is it okay if we go with white background?
please go with "white " ... Vfs prefers white background

Hi did you fill the OCI form. My question I filled the form recently with white background and when I print it out they have mentioned that not light background in bracket mentioned not white. Before that they have not mentioned anything like this.

Hi Suja, I got a confirmation email that my application was sent to VFS - I then received an email that my photo was not acceptable, saying that I need to re-upload my photo, re-print my form and attach the new photos. When I went to re-upload my photo, I am not able to log back in using my file reference number and passport number. I have tried my new passport number, my old passport number, my cancelled Indian passport number, and my OCI number - none of them have worked. Do you have any idea how to re-upload my photo? It also says "Re-upload cannot be performed once your application gets acknowledged at Indian Mission/FRRO." - is this why I'm not able to re-upload? Thanks!

You can upload different photo than the passport, but you digital image and physical image should be same .
Make sure your photo format and size it right , even if you take your own
Minor below 5 thumb impression is mandatory and above 5 signature is mandatory.. refer below video on this

@@worldwar2able i got it to work on chrome. What worked for me was reducing the file size but also not having any special character in file name. Example SIG_Anu didn’t work but it accepted Sig Anu. Hope that helps.

If you get the error message after uploading the photo and signature that says "file name or format is wrong " then rename the file and don't add any special character or space while naming the file.

Hi Sujata: Your video is very informative, but you skipped the part, after a photo taken by wal mart or so, where do we have to go to resize our picture, what is the screen on our computer to resize the photo/signature? On my scanner I used the size given on OCI form that is, for photo 1500X1500 and for signature, 1500x500 yet the it is rejected. I did what ever I was asked to, JPEG file etc. still it's not working & VFS is no help. Appreciate your feed back on this issue.

This whole procedure can be really easy. After scanning a photo please go to " CROP" on my scanner it's( CROP) is available. Make your picture small that's what CROP is for.
After cropping is done, go to "RESIZE". Now the requirement is 1:1 that is Height & Width. Depending on your computer, remove the fixed ratio & click on PIXEL. Once pixel is selected the maximum pixel is 1500x1500. Once all pixels are selected go to " SAVE AS" & save the picture. Now when it comes to signature, sign on a plain paper in the middle ; follow the steps till "CROP". Once CROP is done, ho to RESIZE. Now here the requirement is 1:3 radio. So if a height is selected 300 pixel then the width MUST be 1500 pixel. That's is the maximum pixel. I selected the maximum, as my signature is large. Once all measures are done Save As.
Then go to OCI app where it states UPLOAD PHOTO Cluck on BROWSER & select your photo. ON OCI web will state, " the photo selected is as per requirements" Repeat same with signature. But again even though all steps are followed, it may state " NAME OF THE FILE/FORMAT IS NOT CORRECT. then don't get confused/frustrated. Shut down your computer, after half an hour go again to OCI App go to " REUPLOAD PICTURE/SIGNATURE repeat same, click on BROWSER to upload photo/signature. Done successfully, OCI will say on app, photo/signature uploaded successfully and your uploaded photo/signature will appear on a INDIAN ORIGIN APPLICATION FORM. Depending pn what category the applicant is applying for. Hope this will help.
