INTERNATIONAL LAW says what waters are territorial and international, and it's pretty much the same for everyone, territorial out to 12 nautical miles from your shorelines, with some exceptions for extenuating circumstances, IIRC.

Chinese plane must of have some kind of side mounted short distance radar to come this close at night (10ft). 180+ interceptions/yr (day and night) without collision either meant, their pilots are across the board skillful, or technically assisted.
Without collisions? It has happened a few times. One time with the lost of the Chinese fighter and almost the lost of the US Navy P-3.
You've made a couple too many assumptions - how many of their pilots are skillful and how many of their jets are fully kitted out with side mounted radar etc.

The US and the Philippines have made a defense pact. Probably a patrolling unit or military exercises. It doesn't have an escort so I doubt it's for training purposes.

The Chinese military is allowed to confront an aircraft if they haven’t communicated to ground why they are there or what they are doing. Everyone is entitled to national security, meanwhile the administration and NSA are out here literally stepping into war zones and trying to maintain their control of situations that have nothing to do with us.

Russian Tu95s have been playing inside US ADIZ from Alaska down to northern California since the 1970s, and at least one up Alaska did a bailout over Alaska itself after some "engine trouble" that would not let it get out of US airspace.

During the Cold War, we would scramble a pair of fighters to intercept Bears probing our reaction times and monitoring our Comms. The Lead would be off the Bear's left side, generally just close enough to check the Bear's number and determine its intent. Wingman would be in trail behind the Bear awaiting authorization to shoot.
In later years, the Bear's tail gunner would have his twin 23mm cannon pointed straight up as a sign they were no threat.
Not sure if our F-22s follow the same protocol these days.

B-52s had tail gunners for decades. A through F models had a tail gunner operating quad .50cals. The G models retained the quad 50s but moved the gunner up front next to the EWO. H models carried a 20mmVulcan in the tail operated by the DSO (Defensive Systems Operator) seated near the EWO.
B-52H models are the only Buffs in service. They have dispensed with the 20mm in the tail and the DSO position.
FYI the only side-firing USAF aircraft are the AC-130 variants. There is no C-5 or C137 side-firing gunship, those are make-believe game elements.

@@jaqtsonfromthemist I try. I loaded nukes on G and H models in the USAF and flew as a gunner on AC-119 Shadows in VN. I did a little bit of research before commenting because I couldn't remember the model breakpoint when they moved the gunner up front with the EWO.
The first time I saw a B52 20mil was at Minot AFB in 68. My supervisor I were driving to the other side of the runway. I looked out the window as we went around the tail of an H model. I was alarmed because the 20mil was tracking our vehicle. The supervisor said "They are just aligning the radar" The guns cold.
I volunteer at our local Air Museum and try to research so I can answer visitor questions.
