China know the claim has no basis, With over 300 US military bases in East Asia, we should all be very afraid. These were not established overnight, these have been building up since the 50's to rule the world.
The root of all this is arrogance. Had China approached the Philippines with humility, offering a mutually beneficial strategic alliance, not only would they have secured the SCS, they would have had a launching pad for all their maritime activities in the region. They would have had a wall against a south-western assault from it's enemies. They also would have gained a strategic advantage over Japan, as well as uncontested access to Taiwan. Instead, they chose the route of the bully and tried to push aside the Philippines, knowing they had military superiority. Now they find themselves hated on all sides. Could they still win this conundrum? Maybe. But it would come at the cost of billions of dollars and soldier lives. They would also be essentially causing further economic turmoil on it's own citizens. They dropped the ball on this whole thing.
A simple warning and apology would have helped their image tremendously during the Wuhan virus pandemic. But they did not. Now everybody and their mother hates them.

You Filipino government should sue China (not arbitration) for violating the Article 89 of the UNCLOS. The target shall be the same 9 dashes but with a different goal. The article provides the new weapon with these words: "No State may validly purport to subject any part of the high seas to its sovereignty." If you sue, you announce that you are defending the international community, not your own country.

When US defeated Spain and took over as the colonial master of the Philippines in 1898, these two countries signed the Paris Treaty of 1898. In it, both countries acknowledged that the territories of Philippines lied EAST of east meridian 118. The island in dispute? It lies west of east Meridian 118!
It is really that simple. Philippine did not grab these island until after the San Francisco Treaty of 1951, from a still-militarily-weak China. But for the policy of “anyone but China” by the world’s hegemony, there should have never had any dispute in the South China Sea.

The root of all this is arrogance. Had China approached the Philippines with humility, offering a mutually beneficial strategic alliance, not only would they have secured the SCS, they would have had a launching pad for all their maritime activities in the region. They would have had a wall against a south-western assault from it's enemies. They also would have gained a strategic advantage over Japan, as well as uncontested access to Taiwan. Instead, they chose the route of the bully and tried to push aside the Philippines, knowing they had military superiority. Now they find themselves hated on all sides. Could they still win this conundrum? Maybe. But it would come at the cost of billions of dollars and soldier lives. They would also be essentially causing further economic turmoil on it's own citizens. They dropped the ball on this whole thing.
A simple warning and apology would have helped their image tremendously during the Wuhan virus pandemic. But they did not. Now everybody and their mother hates them.
China and humility are two words that should not be used in the same sentence. look up, "middle kingdom syndrome." The Chinese leadership have viewed themselves as the central pivot of the universe pretty much since the Mongols went native after invading. Even when occupied and bullied by Western Powers in the 18th & 19th century, they maintained the delusion of their imperial omnipotence.
Your idea is good but the Philippines is controlled by the usa through corruption and spying.The usa would never allow it . China would have done this if offered but the offer would never reach china. The usa is guilty of spying on its own allies. The Australian reporter assange blew the whistle on the usa and is now in England facing extradition to the usa. Most likely the Philippines government is being spied on by the usa or the usa is informed of any policies the Philippines is doing by inside government sources.
It will be like world war 2. Germany fighting many fronts 😌 China would experience the same.
