During the April of 2020 and the coronavirus lockdown, I have watched A Piece of Cake, Wings and now We'll Meet Again. This last was a completely satisfying series and I followed the many varied stories with utter concentration. Every character was well acted and the actors' ability to express the emotions throughout the story was magnificent. A brilliant series. Thanks to everyone involved.
Awe, the end! :( I wanted more. I got so used to the characters! One really felt that they could be real. The series got the feel of that era, the 1940s so well. Well done! Will watch over and over again. Thank you for providing such great entertainment!
There is a book that continues this story ( found at a boot sale ) reading again at the moment - “called we’ll meet again, The end of an era” I loved this series and never understood why they didn’t make more . Was thrilled to come across this book - it ties up all the loose ends and has a lovely way to catch up with all the characters and what happens to them many years into the future . Great to watch this again !
Very nice, excellent series, thank you SO much for uploading. Interesting moral point at the end, if Helen had kept her word and gone home rather than going off with Kiley, they would not have seen Letty in the woods and so saved her life.
A bunch of Brits playing Americans, now, what could possibly go wrong there. Brings back a lot of memories, though. Ten years earlier we had the Ashton family, "A Family at War".
I wish B17 'Sally-B' had been painted brown as she would later be for the movie 'Memphis Belle'. Didn't look right - the one silver B17 amongst all those archive footage brown ones.
It's as if Hymie and Elmer keep being forced (by Rosie's refusal to settle, by her resolute insistence on enjoyment of her freedom) to reconsider what they believe about how it "should" be, between men and women. They're becoming Rosie's friends, just people who care about her, and she them - outside the assumptions and expectations!
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view!" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"
This was a nice series, but the ending was completely disappointing. There were so many possibilities with the many stories going on at one time and they blew it. I watch British TV and movies because I think they are superior to American versions, but this one ended like an American mini series would. Silly. Hurried. Disappointing.
"They all got cute little chicks that keep their motors runnin' for 'em." The expectations men had of women in the 1940s. Thankfully those rigid stereotypes, rigid roles that neither gender knew how to escape from (when men and women felt limited, trapped, suffocated, even annihilated, by them!) have become more flexible, less absolute. At least in some parts of the world, some families .... Such precious freedom ...
They didnt care much for their men or their marriage vows when their men came home broke( most men during war were kept going by what was waiting at home for them) . Would have been fitting if the Major had put the gun to his head and relevant today's relationships.
Hi It’s the beginning of the end times! Shalom to us only in Christ Yeshua returning soon to reign over the world from Jerusalem forever! Life without end!
Oh, I loved this series. I delivered Sunday papers, read the story every week!
Had the book and have searched often for some clips, delighted to find this.
Loved this. They carried the story on in the daily mail. ... Which I then bought each week. Pity it finished. Loved chuck. ..he's gorgeous

There is a follow up book I suggest that you read it
Thanks! Enjoyed it.
Pretty good series. It at least had more of an ending than most tv shows do. Granted, it wasn't the most satisfying, but still okay. I give it a 6/10.
Excellent

I wish B17 'Sally-B' had been painted brown as she would later be for the movie 'Memphis Belle'. Didn't look right - the one silver B17 amongst all those archive footage brown ones.
I found this series most enjoyable. Is the musical score available on CD or tape? If so, Where?
Paul Nelson I really hope it is! Does anyone know anything?
Chuck and violet were the stars of love done right. First get married.

It is sad they never made another series, I read the sequel to it, was not as good as the original but was OK.

The series was pretty good, but the story book fairy tale ending was pretty icky...
