I already had an asana account setup, I use for my photo biz and also for my day job. There are no other users, just me. My issue is I can't see my "teams" or create a new team. I can switch back and forth between different workspaces though, is that the same thing?
Good job and thanks Louise. While I am retired I am looking for a simple “PM” tool and this is a serious candidate although I didn’t see in this short prez the ability to take a GTD approach (getting thing done) rather than a date driven approach. In brief, I mean assigning measures such as mandatory, important etc to task or collected tasks. BTW before retirement I was a professional PMP who loved MS Project but became an acolyte of lean PM and GTD. Thanks again and stay well.
yup you can assign low/medium/high priority too this is just a SUPER basic intro she did
@@alyssamoorhead465 Thanks Alyssa and pretty well all the tools offer priorities but I’ve often found that a blunt tool and like the GTD method. As I’m retired this is more an intellectual exercise these days rather than a necessity. Stay well.

I'm a beginner with Asana! I love your roadmap and tutorial, thank you. When I set up a task and set a completion date, is that date the due date of the time and date you'll work on the task? Some tasks need a couple of hours on multiple days to complete by a deadline. What system do you use for allocating and scheduling time to actually DO the task as opposed to the date you need it done by? Thanks
if you get the paid version you can assign start and end dates and then see time blocks in your calendar like that ;) so it would tell you how long to work on it and you could check it off when its done

Thanks for the quick overview. As a PMI PMP and I see the alignment with MS Project too (the ability to set up milestones/tasks/activities/durations, etc... and assign resources)! Very cool, I'll be getting Asana later today and look forward to your other tutorials for how to organize one's business structure using Asana.

Great video, thanks very much! Quick question about tasks. Do you use this to keep track of just odds and ends tasks that are not associated with any project? So, for example call dentist, book car tune-up, etc? I guess I'm thinking that this could make a great digital time management tool as well as a project management tool. Thoughts?
Hey Karen! Exactly! I keep everything on Asana! You can have a business to-do, personal to-do or both. You can also integrate it with Google Calendar and other time management/calendar apps so that they are all synced together 🙂

I listened to this video and I watched a DIFFERENT video that was about an hour long where you offered a class with premade templates for $397. Do you still do this class? Is the class online? This looks like it combines Microsoft project, planner, excel and OneNote. I hate having to use multiple PM programs

I am old school and love a paper planner: prayer lists, to do lists. Etc. I am a functional nutritional therapist, utilizing Practice Better for client management. And the idea of yet another calendar to maintain is making me queasy. But I do need a content calendar, projects, events, newsletters, webinars to develop and eventually online course material. I have a VA, and we utilize Dropbox, but not thrilled. Is there integration w DB? We do need to store files and images. Thank you. Loved this video
Hey Leslie! It can be overwhelming, however, I have found this is the best digital method for organizing my business! It can easily be integrated with Dropbox by using Zapier 🙂When you are outsourcing, Asana can be a great tool for communication and keeping everyone on the same page!

Hey Denise! You can sub-tasks on your "My Tasks" calendar but they don't show up on the individual project calendars. I know they are making changes to subtasks though so this is an update I hope they make!

Is there any way to make the due dates dependent upon each other? For instance one of the tasks is due 1 month before the overall project due date, etc.?

Hi Shabeeb! Teams are only available on the paid plan which is why you likely don't seem the option on your plan 🙂
Louise, I am sorry to bother you with this question... did Asana change? Because I can't find the icon to create Teams.
They didn't change! You will have to have a custom email address though (tied to a custom domain) in order to get that feature. Otherwise, the Teams feature does not display!

Someone please help, I followed the beginning steps but once it brings me into Asana I don't have anything on the side bar that says "add team". I only have the "create project" option-- Is this only an option for paid membership?
I'm exactly the same, nothing matches. For example, there is no option for teams?? I'm going to assume this is a paid version of ASANA that the example is being used on. Which is a shame.
Studio Nelle I finally figured it out! So you have to have a company domain email, you can’t use a personal email. Once you use a company email then you will get the option to add teams and that is with the free version as well. Hope that helps!

Dustin O'Daffer yeah, I have been using Asana for 6 months now and it still has annoying things like this the more in depth you get with their platform. I have decided to stick with them just for the fact that I have built out so much stuff it would be just as annoying to move it all to a new platform like Trello or Monday etc. It kind of feels like the developers don’t actually use this software or all these “little” things would be addressed.
I currently don't have Teams as I'm using the 30 day trial (I have connected business email though). I've made some Projects with task lists, due dates, etc in the calendar for each project. Is there a way to view ALL project tasks collectively over a single calendar overview? Do I need Teams for this?

I didn’t get the option for teams just home, my tasks, inbox, portfolios, then into favourites, then reports and then main… How did you get teams up?

I ran in to the same problem!
I learned it was because the email address you have linked to your account most likely is a personal email and thus is classified under a Workspace and not Organization. "The first step is to add your work email address to your account. Personal emails (e.g. gmail, hotmail, .edu) cannot be linked to an Organization." -From the Asana site
thanks you for your video. I used to use Basecamp 10 years ago, and Asana looks a lot cleaner. We are starting a new company that have a requirement for customer order process workflows (customized products, that include designing and manufacturing) that will work into Shopify platform. Any suggestions on that would be appreciated. I Love tech and Entrepreneurship also.
Hi Louise, after watching your video I was trying to sign up for ASANA, but now it does not offer a basic options screen. Goes directly to the paid version. GRR, I am struggling with customer service now.

Hey there! Once you enter in your business email, you can then go into your settings (click your profile picture in the top right) and select "convert to organization" which should then give you the option to add teams. If not, contact Asana Support as they will be able to get that started for you even after your account/profile has been created!

I appreciate your video and I am trying to test it out for my company. I do not like that do not have an online Chat support. I have remove/ deprovisioning a user from my Organization in error. I am the Admin and now I cannot get back in. Any suggestions? I see the team under the Organization as an indv.

I just tried to install the basic version, but it seemed not to be there, just a ´limited´ version. I spent a couple of hours putting in all my tasks and now I see I have to take Premium in order to be able to put in a start date for a reoccuring task. What´s the use of this 'free' programme if you cannot plan ahead? I feel dissappointed...

Asana could certainly be useful for that! Asana is a great tool to manage all aspects of life and business - I even use it for my grocery list!

This was a great intro (or in my case, reacquainting) with basic Asana!
I've used Asana, Trello and Jira; I was using Trello for my personal business, but a JV I'm getting involved with is using Asana so I looked more into it, and I think I want to run both enterprises on Asana. You had mentioned signing up with my own domain etc, so I have two questions:
1) Why is it important to sign up with my own domain - can't it be changed later?
2) I think I will use "Teams" to segregate my two different enterprises; will that work or is there a better way?

hi Louise! I was just wondering if the Asana's interface changed a lot since you filmed this, I cant see the ADD TEAM button anymore in the free version and also my projects do not show color coded anymore in the calendar view..do you have any insight into why that is? Thanks!
Hey there! Asana did just do an update last week which made it a bit different than this video! You should still be able to colour code projects by clicking the 3 dots beside the project (in the side tab), and then clicking "set colour and icon"! Although you can add team members, adding new teams are now only available on the paid plan. You can add a new workspace though! I hope this helps!

i dont know why none of these questions have been answered by her team ;) im not on her team but I use Asana and can answer lol. YES you can add people from other organizations and have them join just one project or multiple or the whole workspace. You could even have them just be able to see parts of the project i think if you make it so they only see stuff theyre assigned too

Hi, great info provided on your tutorial video! Before spend time getting started, I have one question. Just to be clear, are you saying the free / basic features are not available to me if I do not set up my Asana profile with a professional (.com) email address? In other words, will everything work just as well on the platform if I use email address like gmail, outlook, etc?
I use Gmail, and it works fine.
I’d love your thoughts on setting up teams / projects / tasks. For agencies that have multiple clients.

Hey! Did you sign up with a professional email address? If not, you'll have to get one and then add it to your account email, and then (under settings) click "convert to organization"!

There are many ways to use Asana as a real estate agent 🙂One idea may be a lead tracker to keep track of potential leads (who, where they came from, when to follow-up, etc.), and another thought would be to have a social media project board to keep track of social media posts/ads!
