I am researching which program to try and I see that there is a google chrome extension for Trello that creates check-boxes. (what you mentioned you were missing at minute 3) It shows them on the card without having to click on it and lets you see them crossed off. It's called Tasks for Trello! There might be an extension to alter the calendar view as well.
You all probably dont give a damn but does anyone know of a way to get back into an instagram account?? I was stupid lost the account password. I appreciate any help you can give me.
Either Trello had listened to you or you did not know at the time but when you complete a due date - which you can tick from the card. In the calendar view it shows as fade out and strike out. Also, rather than using one board for each project. I recommend you use one board and use Cards as projects. then you can create checklists.
I was searching for videos about how Trello works, to finally start using it. I saw this as recommended. I'm so glad I checked it out. You did the research and work to put this video together. The differences between the two, the rewarding nature of finishing tasks, and the calendar view in particular have made me decide to switch to Asana. This video is proper mint, mate.
OMG, you read my mind, this is exactly what I needed and answered all of my questions and then some, I am a list person as well, but I love to color code and I really wanted to see everything in once place and also have a calendar view! Thank you so very much for such a detailed comparison!
I appreciated the fact that you spoke of how things worked differently in the two rather than just bashing one and praising the other. I'm going to watch your getting started with Asana video to see how this actually works. The calendar view was *way* to busy in Asana with all the colors; however, that may wind up being useful for the visual reference when I learn what the various colors mean.
I never comment on videos but I've been watching tutorials all morning trying to figure out which platform to move my business planning too. I watched loads about Trello and really liked it, but something about it just didn't sit right with how my brain works. Then came across your video and these are exactly my problems with Trello! I'm a VA, I have a lot going on at once and I need to visually see those checked off and completed tasks and to see the completed ones in my calendar for my own peace of mind. So thank you for this, you've made my decision a lot easier!!
I'm about to sign up for a free Asana trial today! I've been using Trello but my business coach is suggesting Asana. You're video is helping me follow through - seems like a good switch 😀
Oh my goodness. Thank you. All I hear about from everyone is how much they love Trello & I have tried so hard but my brain is just wired differently! Honestly, this video was exactly the info I needed to make an educated decision and stop wasting my time throwing spaghetti at the wall just trying to understand how to USE Trello. I'm immediately signing up for Asana. Again, thank you. Also, this video was enough to make me subscribe to your channel -- it's not often I come across other online business owners whose minds work like mine. Well done and have I said Thank You yet???
I almost never comment on videos. However, this content was incredibly helpful for a small business owner who needs a high level overview without getting into the weeds of research every time I need a new resource. I’ve used Trello and couldn’t quite understand why it wasn’t working for me but, you articulated this so well. The boards get overwhelming and it’s hard to feel accomplished. That’s exactly right. Lists definitely work better for me and for that, I’m going to give Asana a try. Thank you for sharing.
Hey Delrisha! I'm so happy that you found this review helpful and felt heard 💛 It can be too much! I still love Asana over here - and I hope you come to love it too! xx
I create a completed list, and now with the Butler addition, you can ask "marked completed tasks" to auto-switch to the completed list! But I'm debated to switch, great video!
I feel like you are speaking to my brain with this comparison, because you outline the small details that made Trello inefficient for me in which made me work in my business and not on my business. I'd try and optimize it with Butler and a lot of other odd automation methods, yet all those things are solved and eliminated for me in Asana, so thank you for this video! :)
Woot woot - love hearing that! Since our brains clearly work the same way, you're going to love Asana (don't even get me started on all the cool tricks in there!! 🙌)
I've been a user of Trello for years now. I had heard about Asana, but hadn't used it until two days ago that a customer sent me an invitation to work on Asana together. Your thoughts resonate with mine! Looks like I'm gonna migrate from Trello to Asana! I personally love it has scrum and kanban templates since I work with agility frameworks.
Great video Louise . I also made the switch for all the reasons you mentioned. As a virtual assistant I tell my clients always to work with whatever project management tool is intuitive for them!
I've used both Trello and Asana but not for a while. Thanks for this video. I'm going to start using Asana again today. And I subscribed to your videos. You do a great job of keeping things simple
I enjoy Asana so much more. Easier to see everything in one place and takes the sorting work out of the boards without burring important misc things. Thanks for the walk through
This was a great video, you broke down Asana very well. I've been helping companies develop their Asana infrastructures for about a year and am asked frequently about how it compares to Trello. This video gave me some great talking point, much appreciated. Keep up the good work!
Great video! I used Asana before and I was considering now moving to Trello. I'm glad I saw this video before I made the switch. I will continue with Asana :D
Hi Louise, thanks for sharing such nice and precise comparasion between these two productive tools. I am (was) using Trello but you already changed my mind. Main points...for every single task and sub.task, you can set dates (hour) and time in Asana. And the ability of watching all tasks at once, all together...is fantastic with Asana. Another thing: you are able to attach files into Asana (not possible with Trello)...with Asana, you can print (pdf file) and see all details of whole project...it is not possible with Trello, at least not so organized as Asana. All regards to you and thanks again for sharing!
You hit the two biggest problems I have with Trello. That's really helpful! I don't look forward to switching - and I started with Freedcamp! - but so be it. Great video!
Thanks for your video. You have pinpointed exactly the same features I didn't like about Trello. The one about archiving the tasks when done didn't help me getting track of what was done and when. Super good recommendations.
I haven't really used either task management platform, so this helped with seeing the differences! A video with all the features of Asana and the best way to use it would be super helpful. Love that you're including extra videos like these. I've been loving your videos, so it's nice being able to come here for extra tips besides only Squarespace tutorials (which have also been very appreciated, as I'm not super tech savvy yet 😄).
Aw you're so sweet!! Yes, I def want to be doing way more than just Squarespace so let me know if you have any specific requests! (anything tech + systems or entrepreneurship related). Thanks so much for being here and watching Krista 💖
Excellent video. Succinct, easy to follow, pleasure to listen too. I like your smile. Watched 3 Trello videos plus this video, and am going for Asana. Thanks!
thank you! I needed to quickly figure out which one works best for me and you had the same opinions I do! I will try Asana and watch you next video on it on how to get started!
This video definitely saved me from months of frustration! I just signed up for a Trello account, and in starting to set up boards, was not intuitively understanding the workflow. Your video described why I was struggling to love it. I’m so glad I didn’t invest any more time in it and will be trying Asana today. I’m sure Trello is wonderful for some - my brain just wasn’t connecting with it as easily. Thank you for this fantastic information!!!!
I have used Trello and I'm convinced, my brain works like yours LOL! Gonna check out one more PM software, but pretty sure I'm leaning toward Asana. Thanks!
THANK YOU THANK YOU....I've been spending hours trying to figure out which tool to use and this video helped enormously. I am similar to you in liking to do lists and the calendar view. You just clarified precisely that Asana is better for me.
Wow, I had the same problems. Totally agree with everything u said, no accomplishment when archiving, calendar view not great... thanks, will give it a try
I really tried to make Trello work, but you hit the nail on the head. I’m a total list person. I need that satisfaction of box checking and visual organizing in my calendar. SOOO glad I found this on the first day of 2021. I’m pumped!
You're so welcome, Shaun! Asana is a game changer 🎉🙌 If you need any assistance setting your Asana up, I do have a program that just launched on Friday called Uplevel With Asana! You can check it out here: www.uplevelwithasana.com
@Louise Henry I'm not sure if you are not aware of the marking off a task as complete (against the due date) feature in Trello, but I see you kept leaving it out throughout the video - which I feel misrepresents Trello functionality with regards to your comparison with Asana. Whilst the visual implementation is different in the two programs, in Trello you can definitely mark off tasks as complete without having to archive them or moving them to a "Done" list, and completed tasks are shown on both board and calendar view.
I love Trello but am going to give asana a try and see which I like best. I agree on archiving the cards is just not as satisfying as marking it off. You brought up some great points.
Thanks so much for the information. I was trying to make the decision of which to use. I'm a list and calendar person, so I'm with you. I think Asana is the best choice for me.
@@louisehenry So far really good! Created my "Repeat" Projects with all the check lists and my many 😁 to do lists. I can see so many more possibilities. After getting the lay of the land from your video, it is really pretty easy to set up. And very forgiving if you mess up.
Thanks Louise. I am still going to stick with Trello, because its easy for my husband to navigate. Trello has a big advantage of being simple. You can jump right in.
thank you Louise! I'm currently researching which tool would best suit my needs than I came across your video. I love the visual nature of Trello, but the tracking of multiple boards in multiple places can be tricking. AND I too love to see the reward of task completion as you pointed out in Asana - keeps me motivated toward achieving goals. I'm checking out Asana now :)
Thank you for this video! I was saying yes to all you have mentioned. I have been using Trello for years, and I have so many boards, then spend so many hours trying to organize them! I will definitely give ASANA a try. I feel this would also be a way better fit for me!
I just went to do the free trial for Asana, $700 Australian a year - I don’t mind paying but that is a ridiculous amount of money for a Organization program. I am sticking with Trello at least it’s reasonably priced.
Hey Louise thank you for the video, however, you can see also the works/tasks completed in your Trello, you dont have archieve them or move them. you can leave them as they are and just like Asana you can check them, they will appear in green (unless you change the color code) right where you originally placed them.
Great review and mini tutorial! Trying to get my hot mess life in order for 2021! I have used Asana and was looking at trello, but so glad I found your video. I’m a get back into Asana and try to utilize it more efficiently. Thank you! ❤️
I think you hit the nail right on the head with this video! Trello is very aesthetically appealing, particularly to people with a business in the 'design' sphere, which I am in. However, Asana is a better user experience and seems to have a better sense of gratification when completing tasks and projects! I was considering switching to Trello simply for the design component, but your video convinced me to stick with Asana! Thanks so much for making it simple for me :)
I think I'm going to give Asana another try. I had it before, but I liked the visual look of Trello better, which is why I was using Trello. Recently, I've been trying to incorporate automations on the board but found out that you can't have more than one automation/"rule" if you're using the free plan. If you want more than one automation per board you have to upgrade to their paid plan, which seems ridiculous so I'm checking out other tools.
Why does this seem ridiculous to you? They’re a business with overhead, salaries to pay, etc. If they don’t charge for certain features, there will be no features eventually. Can’t work for free, it’s just not possible if you want to keep the lights on.
Thank you. That was very helpful. My mind works like yours, and that is the main reason that I have found Trello and other, similar, products unsatisfactory. Asana looks like the best of the bunch so far, so I am going to give it a go. I would be interested to hear about the differences between the paid and free plans in Asana, and what value you feel the paid plans might give you (or not give you), as someone using it in the context(s) you do.
You're so welcome! I'm happy I could help! I'm still going strong with Asana today, and love it so much 🙌 I have a few other videos on my channel for getting started with Asana and I would recommend checking those out, too! Enjoy!
mmmm, maybe my search for the perfect calendar is really a search for a project management app! I have trello and tried to figure it out, but i only built, not used. but that calendar part of Asana deserves some consideration. I think the list thing will be better too!
I love Trello, but find I spend more time in organizing boards than actually getting stuff done.... mainly because I think I confused myself with Trello. I like the sound of Asana lists and overview, rather than millions of boards! Going to give it a try
My last employer had Asana and I hated it because it was so plain and white with tasks and checklists all over the place. Trello works better for me because I only focus on one project at a time, not multiple projects. I’m also very visual so I love the backgrounds and ability to add pictures and coloured tags to each card. If I had multiple tasks per day for multiple projects like you, I would never feel a sense of closure on anything and it would drive me insane! This video helped me to understand WHY I hated Asana so much, it’s because my brain wiring, and work methodology, is completely different to yours. Thanks for the video!
Thank you this video is well explained. Louise mentioned it was difficult to see all cards from multiple boards in a single view. If you need that, then Bridge24 is the reporting tool you need to boost your Trello experience. Bridge24 also works the same for Asana.
Wow! I heard a lot of productivity people love Trello but I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't feel like it was the right fit! Thank you so much for this video C: !
@Louise Henry Hey! Just an update, I’ve been using Asana for a while now just for personal an have been loving it! ❤️❤️ I’ve introduced it to a club I’m a part of and my board was super into it. Thank you so much again!
Thanks for sharing! I agree, The archive button on Trello isn’t as satisfying lol! Going back to Asana. I don’t need background photos as much as I thought 😀
Thank you for the video. I was convinced to stick with Asana. Started using it at work years ago when I worked in events and use it now for my new position (although not as date- and time-focused) and for home and artistic projects. I too would really like having the option of adding my graphic of choice behind my projects but hey... there's always a trade off.
Thanks for your review. I've just been thinking that Trello doesn´t fix to my needs because of Task archive sistem and the calendar view. You definetly convinced me. Now is the time to learn how to use Asana
I'm convinced. Switching back to Asana after being converted to Trello at my last job. The same things with calendars and lists put kinks in my workflow and ability to see workflows in both a day to day as well as task basis. And checklists not having owners or due dates 😡. And Monday was just waaaaay to much to build out plus, Monday? Terrible name that envokes a case of the Mondays.

Can we build dashboard like Smartsheet in Asana or any other software?

Hmm... I am going to give Asana a try. Both look great, but seems as if Asana has more options. Great video! Thanks!🥰
You're welcome! Agreed - both are good but Asana has my ❤️

I'm totally a checklist person and need to see priority and deadline. This was super timely and pertinent for me. Thank you🙏🙏🙏
This is one of the best reviews the trello team should watch
Hehe, thank you!!
I still love Asana over here - and I hope you come to love it too! xx
I have had a hard time using Trello - Asana has been more efficient and works better for me and my team. Thank you for the video.
You're so welcome! 😊
I create a completed list, and now with the Butler addition, you can ask "marked completed tasks" to auto-switch to the completed list! But I'm debated to switch, great video!
This was a great review, I agree I like the features of Asana more overall.
I'm using Trello and I am convinced, I had very similar problems, many thanks
Happy I could help! 😊
Nice comparison, and agree with you. BTW you can change your background in Asana via your profile settings (image choice may be limited).
Oh sweet, that definitely helps. Thank you for letting know Michael 😃 Any other special Asana hacks I should know about?
I feel like you are speaking to my brain with this comparison, because you outline the small details that made Trello inefficient for me in which made me work in my business and not on my business. I'd try and optimize it with Butler and a lot of other odd automation methods, yet all those things are solved and eliminated for me in Asana, so thank you for this video! :)
Woot woot - love hearing that! Since our brains clearly work the same way, you're going to love Asana (don't even get me started on all the cool tricks in there!! 🙌)

Great video Louise. Exactly, these are the reasons why I left Trello. But we switched to Restyaboard. It works perfectly for us.
I'm glad to hear this resonated with you, Ruth! 🙂
Not used either but I've taken your word and signed up for the basic Asana for me it will be more of a basic to-do list tool for now. Thanks~
Woohoo!! Hope it makes a huge difference for you even as a simple to-do list! ✅
Very helpful Ready to try Asana for the same reasons as you! BTW, you are a natural on video, so engaging and easy to follow. Thanks for the tips.
OHMY GOSH!! More asana videos!! Love it, Louise!
Woot woot!! 🎉 They are coming your way soon! 😀👏

I love the visual nature of Trello, but the tracking of multiple boards in multiple places can be tricking. AND I too love to see the reward of task completion as you pointed out in Asana - keeps me motivated toward achieving goals. I'm checking out Asana now :)
Woohoo! I hope you love it!
It would be good to see these from a client perspective. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for this video! I was saying yes to all you have mentioned. I have been using Trello for years, and I have so many boards, then spend so many hours trying to organize them! I will definitely give ASANA a try. I feel this would also be a way better fit for me!
Great video. I use trello, it has other options like trello card templates and butler automation, they are fantastic. Thank u for the assana info!
You're very welcome!!
Asana has been a longtime favorite of mine. The various view options along the top and other ux features are IT for me.
You get it!! Asana is so great 🔥🔥
I just went to do the free trial for Asana, $700 Australian a year - I don’t mind paying but that is a ridiculous amount of money for a Organization program.
I faced similar issue with trello. That's the reason i couldn't use it to work as well. Definitely will try Asana. Thanks!
Yay!! That is great. Best of luck!
Great review and mini tutorial! Trying to get my hot mess life in order for 2021! I have used Asana and was looking at trello, but so glad I found your video. I’m a get back into Asana and try to utilize it more efficiently. Thank you! ❤️
You're so welcome!! 💖
This is exactly what I wanted to know! Thank you!!! My brain works like yours!
Yay!! I'm glad it was helpful 💕 You're so welcome!
Woohoo! I'm so glad to hear that, Jordyn! Asana will always be my go-to 🥰
THANK YOU! Have just completed your 5 day intro to Asana course! This was the last q I had. THANK YOU!
YAY!! So happy to have you in Uplevel with Asana Tiare! 👏👏👏
You've answered my question, thank you ❤️ and definitely Asana for me then ☺️😘
I think I'm gonna switch to Asana as well....Your Brain works like mine. Thanks for the Video
You're so welcome! I'm happy I could help! I'm still going strong with Asana today, and love it so much 🙌 I have a few other videos on my channel for getting started with Asana and I would recommend checking those out, too! Enjoy!
Great video louise ..gonna make my transition to asana tomorrow !
Woohoo!! Have fun! 🙌
mmmm, maybe my search for the perfect calendar is really a search for a project management app! I have trello and tried to figure it out, but i only built, not used. but that calendar part of Asana deserves some consideration. I think the list thing will be better too!
Could you tell me "HOW YOU HAVE ALL THE VIDEOS THAT I NEED *EXACTLY*"... like *always*!!!!
LYSM!
You're welcome!
You can change the background of projects in Asana. It's in your profile settings.
Thanks this video was WELL explained and you saved me hours trying to setup both and go through it myself! lol Thanks!!!
Hehe that was my goal!! Definitely want to do more software comparisons in the future because of this!
I feel the same like u when I using Trello so I’ll try Asana, thanks a lot for the review 😊
You're so welcome! I absolutely love Asana 😍
You're so welcome!! Enjoy 🙂
Thank you Louise! Definitely switching to Asana! :)
Woohoo! So exciting 🙌 Asana is so great!
Super impressive post-it display!!!! I used to have my entire desk plastered with post-its.
This video has given me a better comparison of the 2 platforms. Thank you.
I'm so glad! 😃
Thanks for your review. I've just been thinking that Trello doesn´t fix to my needs because of Task archive sistem and the calendar view. You definetly convinced me. Now is the time to learn how to use Asana
where do you find the calendar view? would yuo plz mention
