Finally someone showing a 12v projector /TV /internet monitor.Best way to live off 12v's and in small spaces, without losing picture size.Great overall use of space.
I like these "small" houses, as opposed to the "tiny" houses ... this is enough room to actually live and feel human. HOWEVER ... you really need stairs. What a great house, congratulations.
Daniel Morse This is Massachusetts ... what is the code for stairs? Seems like that loft is open at the one end, making it a hazard, and also the ladder opens into the wall above it ... really cramped. That is about the only thing I don't like about it. I'd rather lose space on the downstairs and have a narrow set up stairs that go up with an open port to bring up overside furniture. There's no sense in that code if they allow a ladder like that but not stairs.
Massachusetts code for stairs requires 36" width and 36x36 landing at the top. then you would have to have clear headroom along the stairway, likely requiring an odd bump-out dormer in the simple roofline. seems that stair would run into the door to the porch, complicate entry to the bath as well as taking away from the carefully negotiated main living room
Chris, the owner, is obviously a smart guy. He did a great job building this house, and making it fully legal. One thing I would've done differently is to locate the woodstove against the wall between the kitchen and the bathroom door. It currently divides the main space into smaller, less usable spaces. Putting it on the opposite wall allows furniture to be placed in the corner to the left of the front door. You can have a sofa on one wall and a love seat at right angles against the other wall.
Love the fact that this is in MA, which is where I am. I agree with the comment that there is some unused space in the kitchen to the left of the counter, but this guy doesn't seem to need much so hey, that's cool. This is really great to see, cool entertainment system and not for a lot of money. And love the porch with all the extra living room it gives, especially in summer. Thank you so much for showing this!
This is a good book. Does provide a step by step introduction to how to build things ruclips.net/user/postUgkxhgbP-6hUnXu_QRaoHgLztgsI0YF3HqR0 , also does offer some steps. Includes pictures to give you ideas for layouts and such. If you are looking for a guide, this is not exactly what you want. But if you are trying to familiarize yourself with the way that pole barn building and other out buildings, are made, then this will work just as you need it to. A few things in this book are a barn (of course), detached garage, storage building, and coops.
badandy8888 Because of the past. Because of horrid conditions in which people lived during industrial revolution. Because developers build cheap, crowded blocks witch included rooms with no windows, no air flow, poor fire escape, inadequate sanitation... So we started to introduce standards. So that people wouldn't be hurt like this. I agree, it's annoying, but there was a good reason for it.
I once saw a Marine build an A Frame in the woods in 6 hours by himself. 2x4x12's a hammer nails and a saw. One door and 4 scrap windows. A week later he put in the insulation and stamped a dry concrete floor. A week later, shingled the roof. Never used a power tool and probably still lives there. (W Virginia 1992)
Gorgeous home! This is a lot nicer than some of the tiny sheds/cabins I reviewed on my channel. I love the simplicity of this one. And those cabinets are out of this world. That is some creativity!
Liberty is not legal in Massachusetts, ironically. It is the reason I now live in Vermont. I own property that strattles a town/county line. 10 of my acres are in a town with NO ZONING LAWS!! Royalston is a very small town populated with mostly reasonable people. Sad about his confession regarding the shower. If one of his liberal neighbors sees this they will undoubtedly report him. Then he will have State Police, EPA and HAZMAT crews descending en masse as if there was a radiation leak. I hate Massachusetts.
LOL, we are discussing property ownership, not property rental. These laws OBVIOUSLY do nothing to stop Slum lords. If they worked, there would be no slum lords..... Government dictating the definitions of Safety and enforcing imposed zoning laws is not about safety, but about control.
+TonyHickschick Check out the minim house. They have a unique alternative for the lofted bed. I'm probably gonna build a minim house as soon as I get the money.
+TonyHickschick The bed in the loft would be nice and warm in the winter, in the summer the screened porch would probably be more comfortable to sleep in.
Perfect! Well thought out space. The finished bathroom is much more appealing to me than the average RV look of most tiny house bathroom. Love the entertainment center. The front porch lends living/storage space w/o heating/cooling cost. I'd add a drop down extension to the end of the kitchen counter. The space there is unused. VERY nice! Thanks Deek!
Keep in mind that housing codes can vary by state, etc. MA code: "(A) Every dwelling unit shall contain at least 150 square feet of floor space for its first occupant, and at least 100 square feet of floor space for each additional occupant, the floor space to be calculated on the basis of total habitable room area." But I don't think they include pets, so you could have four big dogs in it to assist with winter (body) heat.
Watching this I was thinking, hmmm another nice little house!! Then my mind was blown away when you showed that tiny media center with with a pico projector!!! Epic!!
Poor cameraman, bless you, you need to use your inhaler. If you have not been diagnosed with COPD you Must go to the Dr, please. I have COPD and you sound just like me without meds.
In 1977 I moved to Tulsa and in the Brookside neighborhood I found a Tiny House. It was originally build as a mother in law house but the main house burnt down. Pretty much the same everywhere now except for 2 states I think. Even in my red state in the South, we have very restrictive codes, even in very rural counties. It is a shame.
This house looks awesome! This is actually the first tiny house I've seen that I said to myself "I could live in that". It looks very modern compared to many of the tiny homes I have seen.
+Beverly Smith I completely forgot about this video, so when you posted I laughed and had my husband watch it with me. Apparently the speaker system is just sensitive and the guy is okay. lol!
I'm sorry.. it's just so FUNNY. Maybe you have to be wearing headphones to really hear it in it's full glory, but listening to it and then reading the comments.. I am laughing so hard, I cried. Oh.. it's the little things.. great vid of the house and thanks for the laugh. =D
Chris' cabin is fabulous! I agree about the round ladder rungs - Ouch but easier to replace than the countertops in the kitchen. Great job all in all. I really love the solar energy, the wood stove ad fan for heat and the TV system. Wow - just wow!
Viv Wallace lol I saw 3 comments about Darth Vader filming this and thought "what did I miss?" lil so okay, breathing. I must have been paying too much attention to the house.
I didn't even notice it either. Sadly, it's become a rite of passage on RUclips to engage in groupthink to such a degree that one cannot even form an original thought while viewing a video, so instead you have copycat comments ad nauseum. This is a recent phenomena only noticed the past few years, and seems to be getting exponentially worse by the week. Not a good sign for individual intelligence.
I hardly noticed that either, too busy checking out the layout. Assumed it was the dog. A lot of tiny house videos are awkward to light and film in to popular standards, and best of luck to the person behind the camera.
That is a really nice small home. I like it the lounge area doesn't feel cramped, the kitchen is adequate, the front verandah, the shower is big enough, and sleeping area a decent size. The outside appearance is lovely, too.
I love your dog! What a silly personality. He lays there until the camera gets close then gets up and does a mad dash past you I think he loves the place more than anyone lol. What a great place for him to be too.
This is the coolest small house I've ever seen! Many of them are cute but cluttered. I understand that if there's a family living it. I like this one the best. Having a normal shower and visually attractive building materials make this livable.
Easily one of the best tiny houses on RUclips. Very professional in appearance. The entertainment center is very cool. I f I ever buy some land, I am gonna copy this plan. well done,
I'm impressed! Finally, a little house that has a usable shower, bathroom sink and toilet, clothes washer and good size kitchen sink. So many so called tiny houses don't have a bathroom - ridiculous.
+BUGIIS1 Gross. You want to sit in a giant sump of water that's full of funk? It's not just wasteful, but it completely takes the point out of bathing. Also, age alone should have very little to do with why an elderly individual cannot climb a ladder.
+Aaron Rodriguez Many women around the world love bubble baths and as for the elderly, many cannot climb ladders or why increase risk of an injury to an elderly person. There is nothing wrong with minimizing risk or taking a nice hot bubble bath.

Again, what would prevent an elderly person from climbing a ladder... how is climbing a ladder any more dangerous than activities they already engage in? I ask you - how is climbing a ladder any more dangerous for elderly people then it is for them to walk down a flight of stairs or drive an automobile or operate a chainsaw or take a bath? I agree, minimize risk but i disagree with your premise that a ladder isn't "safe" ... and this is tiny home.... if you want all the amenities of contemporary living then it isn't to be sought in 252 sq ft without compromise. You have to make choices that factor in safety and efficient use of space.
+Aaron Rodriguez I don't think you know anything about Gerontology. You're pretty ignorant to ignore the myriad of environmental and genetic causes of aging, and how that relates to the discussion about the elderly climbing ladders....
BadMannerKorea Am I a grad researcher on the topic of Gerontology? No. Have I read and watched things related to "Gerontology" online? Yes. Does that make me an expert? Of course not. However, I venture to guess you're not an expert either. If you're not able to climb a ladder because you're "too old" then don't live in a Tiny Home. It's that simple, problem solved.
I wouldn't wanna build a open house like that! I would put inaccessible Windows with metal rod squared. And the door made with heavy duty wood and securing system which could only be opened upon completing puzzle 😂 and below a sheltered bunker only accessible through inside the house and a secret gateway through a tunnel!
What a neat little house! Love the porch, too (and the dog). I've been wondering how people in remote tiny homes deal with potential invaders, both animal and human? I"m always wary of the tiny homes full of windows, making me sleep in a fishbowl. What keeps bears and bad people out best? I don't exactly need a shipping container with no windows that bolts on the inside, but I look at the homes in lightly populated areas and get to worrying. If the zombies rise, what's best for security? Fewer and higher windows? Solid doors? (Have you seen the movie "Hush"? Too many windows, not enough locks to keep the murderers out, lol)
I never understood why people in the U.S. or Canada often have doors leading from the outside right into the kitchen or living area. It must be very cold there in winter! In my country (I´m from Central Europe), we have very cold winters and very hot summers. And I can´t imagine not having a small hall. The cold from the outside stays there and you don´t let it in the main living area. A tiny one would do... You take off your dirty shoes there and slip in your warm slippers and all the dirt and moist stays in the hall, you don´t take it inside. Well, strange people these Americans! lol
+DanaPatriciaMary1 A lot of houses have foyers but don't have doors so it stops the dirt but not the cold. Old houses in the US have "mud rooms" at their entrance with a door that would keep the cold out. These days it doesn't seem to fashionable and people would prefer to just pay more for their heating and cooling.
you never understand? not even in this instance? it's a "tiny house". the owner is using the toilet right next to where he eats. do you think he has room to include another "small hall".
That's a weird spot for a ladder though. I probably would had put the stairs against the wall on the open side where his little entertainment system is.
be nice if that ladder ran around the corner on a track so it could be put flat against the wall.. add a couple tables under the window and TV screen area that drop flat against the wall.. maybe a couple ottoman/storage units and a OH! you should totally build a recliner with storage underneath.. that'd be even more awesome than what you got! wish I could do this stuff lol 👏👏👏
Great video guysl!! Mr. Vader, it was a pleasure to see you back on TV even if it was just a simple recording great video!! Lol.. Cool house to get away..!! I love everything about the Lil house I wouldn't change anything. .!!
I love that the concentration of this video was on fine tuned decisions made by the man who owns the house. The entertainment center is a great innovative idea!! Great idea indeed!!!
Your home looks so peaceful. I didn't see a closet, did I miss it ? I love the porch, siding, kitchen, bathroom, wooded setting, washer and the lack of clutter. And you have a cute dog too.
The tiny entertainment system is quite creative. I also notice the multi band radio in the window, very nice. This house is functional, close to what I would like for myself. I may end up converting shipping container into a house instead, or just converting a cargo van. I am undecided at this point.
Finally someone showing a 12v projector /TV /internet monitor.Best way to live off 12v's and in small spaces, without losing picture size.Great overall use of space.

I understand. Maybe a spiral? Ohhh, they be cool but they eat up space too! Still the head room. You can always ask for a variance.
Who is filming this? Darth Vader?
omg as i first starting watching, awesome video tbh, i was like damn who pissed darth off to try and impose as a video guy
LMBO
Had to take it off of mute to hear what everybody us talking about. 😞
That's the first thing that I thought too, lol. Luke! I am your realtor. Come to the signing, fell the power of home ownership!
Lmao
this is probably my favorite tiny home thus far. it's spacious & it has everything that i would need to live comfortably.
Ah those cabinets are insanely, smart looking!
Chris, the owner, is obviously a smart guy. He did a great job building this house, and making it fully legal. LOL lots of heavy breathing .
Wow. What a miserable person.
Am I the only one who noticed that dog thought they were going for a ride in the car at 1:17

I want a tiny house. This gives me a lot of ideas. Thanks for sharing!
Go for it!
Love this little house! So much light and space. Much happiness sent to Chris!
If you want to live in a house the size of a box why should the government be able to tell you that you can't. It's dumb!!
Well,it is Massachusetts.once the home of our Founding Fathers, now the home of socialism.
badandy8888 For the same reason you need to work and pay to work more

Love how the dog got in front of the camera when they were taking a pic of the house in the caption Lol, adorable!!
Such a cute little house! I love the entertainment system; brilliant for the space!
Gorgeous home! This is a lot nicer than some of the tiny sheds/cabins I reviewed on my channel. I love the simplicity of this one. And those cabinets are out of this world. That is some creativity!
I feel the Dark Force behind the camera !
This guy must not live too far from me. I live right on the border of Royalston, Ma. in Phillipston, Ma. Love his little homestead.
There is really something wrong with our libertys when you have to explain that your home is actually legal.
That was my initial thought, but was superseded by 'Oh, whats new'
I know that in some states this house would not be at all legal. Some states require your house to be a minimum of 500 square feet.
It's not about "liberties" but about safety. There are slum landlords out there.
LOL, we are discussing property ownership, not property rental. These laws OBVIOUSLY do nothing to stop Slum lords. If they worked, there would be no slum lords.....
Government dictating the definitions of Safety and enforcing imposed zoning laws is not about safety, but about control.
Nice tiny house. Love the entertainment center and the porch. My problem with most tiny homes is that the bed is in a loft which I don't like.

That dog was adorable!!! The heavy breathing, not so much. Beautiful home and property. And may the force be with you.
Tiny House people really love dogs.
And JEEPS they love jeeps
and us full cab, truck drivers
I think this is one of the better tiny homes I have ever seen. I think the set up is really good.
Keep in mind that housing codes can vary by state, etc. MA code: "(A) Every dwelling unit shall contain at least 150 square feet of floor space for its first occupant, and at least 100 square feet of floor space for each additional occupant, the floor space to be calculated on the basis of total habitable room area." Watching this I was thinking, hmmm another nice little house!! Then my mind was blown away when you showed that tiny media center with with a pico projector!!!
Epic!!
You're lucky to have Darth Vader as your camera man :D
MOTORCYCLE GUITAR { WE CAN WORK IT OUT } did I miss something?
Is that what i hear
He's their daddy!
Poor cameraman, bless you, you need to use your inhaler. If you have not been diagnosed with COPD you Must go to the Dr, please. I have COPD and you sound just like me without meds.
🤣 I was thinking the same thing
In 1977 I moved to Tulsa and in the Brookside neighborhood I found a Tiny House. It was originally build as a mother in law house but the main house burnt down. I rented it until I bought my house a year and a half later. It was pretty functional. I needed a storage building for some things but it is amazing how small a place you can actually get by with.
I live in Tulsa. I wish I could see this space.
sad, you have to say how it is "legal" to live in something if you want to live in it...
That's MA for you...land of the enslaved.
Yea, pretty sick isn't it? Slaves get to buy land and pay taxes on the land but can't live in what you want on your "own" land usually.
Pretty much the same everywhere now except for 2 states I think. Even in my red state in the South, we have very restrictive codes, even in very rural counties.
It is a shame.
Got to love progressives. BY THE WAY BILL WELD DOESN'T SOUND VERY LIBERTERIAN
Christopher Banacka the put restrictions in for various reasons.
This house looks awesome! This is actually the first tiny house I've seen that I said to myself "I could live in that". It looks very modern compared to many of the tiny homes I have seen.
the camera man is breathing really heavily, I hope he is okay.
It was making me dizzy and out of breath!

Rebekah Webb
LOL
Rebekah Webb - kinda a mean spirited statement.
@@ThePerfectSeason1972 I wrote that about 4 years ago. I sincerely meant it. I really want the man to be okay.
This place a is rad! Nice job and that entertainment center is so cool!!

Hahahahaha!!

Man, the breathing didn't even bother me at all... all these comments about it.
ikr?

Tiny homes are cute but I need a bath tub to soak in! Also, climbing up a ladder to get to bed would be difficult especially if you are elderly.

Well, strange people these Americans! lol
+DanaPatriciaMary1 Interesting.
I live in Canada and we do the exact same thing (for the most part, at least where I live.)
+Cori Robinson You do exactly the same thing as who?
That's minimalist living at it's finest! I love it!
eeeeK, the breather!
+SillyConeBaby MAAAAAN, that's distracting
+SillyConeBaby Omg I didnt expect to see sillyconebaby here XD
Yep. We asthmatics do not make the best cameramen.
Doggy looks very happy its all done , Congrats Great Job , all the best for your family
That's a weird spot for a ladder though. I probably would had put the stairs against the wall on the open side where his little entertainment system is.
That ladder is an eyesore. He should've just built mini stairs with storage drawers underneath it.
rayva1 a retractable ladder would have suited just fine too, one that you pull down
be nice if that ladder ran around the corner on a track so it could be put flat against the wall.. add a couple tables under the window and TV screen area that drop flat against the wall.. maybe a couple ottoman/storage units and a OH! you should totally build a recliner with storage underneath.. that'd be even more awesome than what you got! wish I could do this stuff lol 👏👏👏
Is darth vader filming this....?
No, he just wasn't taking his cigarettes as prescribed.
lol that breathing though wow lol..:)
I really really liked this house and that is one clever innovative man.
Nice. I would hate going up and down the ladder though.
MsSassyMT apparently so does he
Great video guysl!!
Mr. Vader, it was a pleasure to see you back on TV even if it was just a simple recording great video!! Lol..
Cool house to get away..!!
I love everything about the Lil house I wouldn't change anything. .!!
Is the cameraman breathing through a Darth Vader mask?
i guess Darth Vader needed another job to pay his debts on the death star
I find your lack of faith in the cameraman disturbing...
I love that the concentration of this video was on fine tuned decisions made by the man who owns the house. The entertainment center is a great innovative idea!!
Great idea indeed!!!
the dog is funny!!
WOW! this is the first tiny home I have ever seen in a winter climate, thanks. about to check out your video on the 210sq ft home
Honestly! Give the camera guy a break. He isn't breathing loudly; the mic happens to be close to his face so it picks up the sound and amplifies it.
wow really nice place love the cabinets and the tv system great idea
The camera guy is snoring while awake!
Hello from Central Mass! Glad to see these are built and lived in around here!
the dog. the dog is why i'm here. nice house too!
Your home looks so peaceful. I didn't see a closet, did I miss it ? I love the porch, siding, kitchen, bathroom, wooded setting, washer and the lack of clutter. And you have a cute dog too.
funny dog,
good house.
That's really a beautiful little cottage. Wish I had something like this back when I was in college, would have been perfect for me.
I didn't know Darth Vader did camera work on the side.
The tiny entertainment system is quite creative. I also notice the multi band radio in the window, very nice. This house is functional, close to what I would like for myself. I may end up converting shipping container into a house instead, or just converting a cargo van. I am undecided at this point.
This is wonderful!
The dog is seriously my favorite.
can't get past the breathing.
Yeah, a remote mic would have been a smart investment.
LOL! I was saying the same thing.
divisioneight Or a Healthier cameraman.
I didn't even notice it til it was mentioned in the comment section!
Very nice. Gave me some ideas for when I do mine. Thanks.
