Hands down one of the best channels I've seen for auto repair. Thank you for being thorough, exact and for cutting to the chase! Also, kudos for doing it "the right way" instead of cutting corners. I'll be tackling this fun project in the next several weeks!
Excelente muchas gracias me vino muy bien bendiciones 🙏🏿
Glad it helped!
@Driving Forward Builds - hello thank you very much for the Video and you have my ABO - i have also this Problem with my X6 E71 Xdrive 35D 2010 Year, I buy also from internet the the Parkingbrake motor but in the description they write I must newprogramming the Unit ? You dont nothing what they mean I must coding the new Part with bmw Coding Software ?? Please answer me - bye.
Hello, yes the new unit should be coded to the car. I have read of some people making it work without coding though. I used Protools to code mine.
@@DrivingForwardBuilds thank you very much, i wish you all the best.
@DrivingForwardBuilds Just had the actuator go on my X5! Made a horrible noise when unlocking the car.
How's the cheap part holding up? I drive the car 4000 miles a year if I'm lucky and really don't see the point in splashing out on the OEM part
So far so good. I haven't had any weird noises and it actuates each time without fail.
@DrivingForwardBuilds great to hear! Keep us all posted if it ever goes tits up 👍
Thank you for the great video! Do the actuator cable ends just slide back in the parking brake mechanism and lock themselves? Is there anything special around that step?
The cable ends do slide back into place. You will likely need to use a pick or small needle nose pliers to assit the locking ball past the spring tension. One of mine went in pretty easy, the other took a few minutes of fidling.
@@DrivingForwardBuilds I did it successfully, pretty fast and easy with your vid! Thank you! Also went for a cheap Ebay item, lets see how long it lasts.
@@Mattessz Thats great to hear it went together! Well done🙂
The looped emergency release is standard on the LCI. Maybe the units are the same for both
Good observation. That makes sense that they might be the same.
@@DrivingForwardBuilds the LCI does not have the red release tool in the boot tool kit. You can fit the looped as the only difference is the old release cables have a lug instead of the loop. And make sure you dont connect the power plug until all cables are fitted and adjusted. I made a mistake of plugging it in to see if it works . It wound the motor and jammed it
Good video , mine failed yesterday and could not release so had to cut a cable to get the brakes off., did my son in laws one two years ago so hopefully it will be a easy job..
My rotor is frozen on the hub
If thats the case even with the cable disconected from the control unit it is probably just corrosion build up. Try to spray penetrating oil between the hub and rotor hat carefully. Work to not just spray behind into the shoe area. Then you'll need to use a rubber mallet from behind and work it off.
@DrivingForwardBuilds I got my rotors off using a rotor puller. I was able to install the new module and lines and it's all working! Thanks for this video!
@@Kalanioccc That's fantastic. I'm glad it worked out for you!
I think I'll rather drive with the light on lol
That’s a real option. Or as my Dad says, it’s not something some black tape can’t fix. ;-)
I've been driving with light on for 5 years... who needs braking brake in the flatlands of Houston? LOL
