  • I came up with this pattern while experimenting with different feathers for the the head hackle on wet flies. Loosely based on a Sooty Olive wet fly. The Pattern is:
    Hook: Fullingmill Heavyweight Champ size 12
    Thread: Semperfli Nano Silk Black 18/0
    Tail: Golden Pheasant Tippet
    Rib: Silver Wire
    Body: Vicuna Dubbing Sooty Olive
    Body Hackle: Grizzly Hen Dyed Golden Olive
    Head Hackle: Waterhen

    Great tying of this flyes would like to one or two in my box for this session but Waterhen Wing's are so hard to get these day's is there anyother hackle that I can used instead of it .
    I really like your RUclips channel somegreat videos on it tight lines for 2022 session

      Thanks for subscribing to my channel, I’m very pleased you like my videos. Cookshill Flytying are a great place to source feather, wings and skins. But you could used any dark grey, very dark Dun or natural black feather. A natural black hen hackle with a greyish look to it might be the easiest to find.
