Gumby? Gumby. GUMBY~! Also, that scene from Mary & Max where Max is at the receptionists, then it cut to him on the train with a chair from the office? I howled out in laughter, as one thing I often joke about (being an Aspie myself) every time I'm told to "take a seat" at an appointment is that "none of them matches the decor at home"!
Gustavo Barría Chavarría well i was diagnosed with asperger's syndrome a long time ago, but now the put asperger's in the autistic spectrum, so now im autistic
I was born in the 2000s so..I don't remember watching gumby but I Know of him! I have autism too... And present me Knows wallace and gromit, Something I probably feared as a Young Baby..Now loving it!
I saw "Fantastic Planet" once a long time ago, and I remember really liking it but being unable to find it again because I couldn't remember the title. Plus, I learned stuff I never knew about it. Thank you AniMat!
I am realar's girlfriend irl, and I have to say this: Thank you. This video made him so happy, and it made my day to see him tearing up in joy as you mentioned his grandfather with such praise. I've seen your movie reviews, and though the other videos are indeed part of the reason, most of the reason I am subscribing is this video alone, for the joy you gave him. Thank you.
My step mom at the time had that same thought. She also thought it would help us learn more about my condition... condition isn’t a word I would use but I was drawing a blank.
Mary and Max was a great movie. Although parts of the visuals were an acquired taste, the themes were handled well and most the jokes were hilarious. As an aspie myself I was impressed by how unbiased they were with talking about the condition. Overall it's a cool movie, and showcases how powerful animated movies can be. It's a difficult movie, but still an especially good one.
Mary and max is honestly one of the best movies I have seen. The black and white and animation style was all so lovely and then the story and characters to add to it 😻
Dude! I grew up with Gumby! I had VHS tapes that I'd watch all the time, and mom says it's the only thing I'd have the patience to watch as a toddler. I was actually quite underwhelmed at the movie.
I never saw Mary and Max, but I remember coming across a clip from the film awhile back where Max talks about Asperger's. Since I have Asperger's myself, i thought the clip was totally relatable, and I might watch the whole film. But don't know if it's rated PG or not...
I love this channel! Every video is well researched, well made, well written and they are always so intriguing. I have lots of fun watching these videos as they’ve helped me get more interested in animation. This specific video is my personal favourite out of all your videos and I really appreciate how you give lots of underrated movies lots of credit, which they deserve. I’ve recommended you to lots of my friends and told them all these cool facts from your videos which have helped them be intrigued. Great channel! Hope you reach a million subscribers because you really deserve it at this point.
I'm 20, and Gumby was a figure I had known since my childhood. Being apart of my father's childhood, we had some figures og Gumby. Also, me and my siblings saw the Gumby Movie at a relative's house.
I wish he would review fantastic planet on its own. There needs to be a in depth comparison to it and avatar which Cameron to debate if he clearly either ripped off or did a tribute to it.
I wonder if he would ever consider doing an episode on some of the exceptional animation that one can find right here on RUclips? There's this gorgeously detailed and unique little stop motion film called "The Maker" that I really think deserves more attention.
I owned Gumby the movie as a kid and was freaked out by it, not understanding how old it was and the fact that the song at the beginning really freaked me out. I discovered Gumby when I saw him on a wall at a restaurant me and my family were eating at. In fact that was when I first learned about cancellation and began hunting it down. I found the movie and had fun watching it. I would say that Mary and Max looks older than it is and as I said it was depressing. But overall I liked Gumby and Mary and Max was probably not for my taste.
I believe that despite what the gross was, the full original version of Gumby the Movie (as in the version all of the scenes in it that was released from kid vision) should be released on dvd and blu ray very soon as what I think could be a special edition.

I loved the Gumby Movie. Wouldn’t stop watching it when I had it. As for Mary & Max... hoo boy. It’s commendable but not a movie I would watch again. Maybe I would get more out of it now as opposed to years ago. Then again, seeing these clips made me think more about it. Like it might be more relatable? Like maybe I relate to Max but in a less extreme way?
when looking at the stop motion films on Wikipedia I had a question. WHO TOOK TWICE UPON A TIME OFF OF THE PAGE? and Has anyone saw 2010 the year we made contact
+The Phantom of the Paradise They shortened the Gumby Movie!? I watched that movie as a kid and didn't have a problem with how long it was, but now they decide to shorten it? That is some bullshit right there.
Even though the gross for the Gumby movie was $57,100 dollars that, I believe, is still a huge amount of money for a movie's gross. Getting down to the real point, the original version of that movie should be released on blu ray, how can I put this, very soon.

I think that, regardless of what the gross for Gumby the Movie was, I believe that the original 90 minute version of that movie should be released (hopefully soon) on dvd as a special edition. One disc would have the original 90 minute version while the other would have the director's cut. But both discs would have all of the dvd features such as the special features, scene selections, and subtitles. You understand what I mean, don't you?
Mary and Max is one of the few movies that made me cry like a baby. I wish more animated films can tackle hard subjects like the ones in this film.
Gumby? Gumby. GUMBY~!

I remember watching Mary and Max.
Thinking it was a kid movie.
Why did I make that decision.
That movie was depressing I even found it hard to sleep after I watched it.
it was good though.
I relat to Max i have autism and that is a form off Aspbergers
My step mom at the time had that same thought. She also thought it would help us learn more about my condition... condition isn’t a word I would use but I was drawing a blank.
Super Wario otis Other way around, asperger’s is a form of autism
animation is my favorite art form as you can do anything with it like do a time period feature or even a weird film like the yellow sumbirne.
It seems Twice Upon a Time jump started the careers for a ton of important people. That and the film on it's own really makes me want to see it now.
Twice Upon a Time aired on the Disney Channel in the 90s. I have it recorded on tape and it was how I saw the film.
this channel is a national treasure. thank you so much.

Loved Mary and max so beautiful and I did cry a bit and the end x
Max and Mary was so sad. It was so real I was crying for hours
Phelous should review Twice Upon a Time because Lorenzo Music is in the movie as Ralph. (And you know how much Phelous likes Lorenzo Music)
Mary and max is honestly one of the best movies I have seen. The black and white and animation style was all so lovely and then the story and characters to add to it 😻
if Michael Jackson did do the music for the movie, it may have had a change of being a box office hit.
I got more and more hyped to tgo watch "Twice upon a Time". Now it's one of my tasks in life.

Mary and Max is a masterpiece of a movie.
I used to have some Gumby earrings at some point. I wish I knew what happened to them. I loved that show.
Mary and Max makes me cry every god damn time
I wish he would review fantastic planet on its own. There needs to be a in depth comparison to it and avatar which Cameron to debate if he clearly either ripped off or did a tribute to it.
No, he said we are coming to the end of this look back :(, also love the Robin Williams clip.
I'm not entirely sure, but the way I see it the Gumby movie would definitely be considered an underrated movie.
1:34 Irony: you should have said "just like South Park" cause it's also cutout animation too
But it’s been done on a computer for most of its run.
That was for the first two shorts Trey and Matt did, as well as the original pilot. But they used computers since then.
Don't forget about my stop motion/ live action feature "Imagination" ! Been enjoying your vids on stop mo!

Animat, did you know that Fantastic Planet became the 4th Animated film released on Criterion in June of this year?
Fantastic planet really does look like something that came out of a monty python cartoon
Davey and Goliath is also made by the creators of Gumby
The end off Mary & Max Always make me cry
THE BEST VIDEO! OF STOP-MOTION
I love Dallas McKennon's work. By the way, that cartoon with Buzz Buzzard you showed at 15:28, he was voiced by someone else.
I love Adam Elliot's work. I was first exposed to him when I watched Harvie Krumpet on TV.
Dallas McKennon was also the voice of Archie and a few other characters over at Filmation.
Mary and Max
Story: 10/10
Animation/7/10
Characters: 9.9/10
7/10? The animation is fantastic.
What sucks is that these have a lot of effort in them, but don't get that much attention. Mary and Max is an amazing film.
"Fantastic Planet" kind of reminds me of something I have seen on a music album cover.. I forget which one, but the blue people look familiar:/
the one album by queen seemed similar
I just watched Mary and max last night it was the most depressing movie I've ever seen.
Another example of paper still animation like what was used in fantastic planet was the earlier seasons of South Park
Great video, Matt. As always.
Paul Freese also played John and George in the 1960s Beatles cartoon
I wanted to watch twice upon a time now
I never seen Gumby the movie but I do enjoy the shorts from the late 50s and early 60s
Plot twist. The fantastic planet was megamind’s birth planet

Will you make a video discussing the works of Ivo Caprino?
I know these are video games, but their stop motion. Can you talk about clay fighters, nightmare Ned, the neverhood, and the dream machine
And why did Animat never talk about Rankin Bass?
Diego Diaz Maybe he wants to do that studio as their own Lookback? The Stop-Motion Lookback was very long as well.
David Hastlehoff would not be seen with Gumby! Maybe Pokey, but not Gumby!
Did anyone else hear that burp sound?
I only clicked on this video because I saw gumby knowing who he is!

Fantastic Planet looks like it was made by Terry Gilliam, doesn't it?
I'm sure it does. I knew there was going to be a Monty Python joke coming due to its resemblance.
