Last night I've been jumpscared by some character on one of someone's adult cartoon film collection video, and now I figured out what character it was, now I know it was the freaky white rabbit from the 1988 film Alice that scared me, boy what a shock!
I remember being creeped out by seventies big round headed characters on stop motion animation films. Christmas ones and especially this monster movie with Dracula and Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde and the mummy that keeps losing it's head which rolls around on the floor. Creepy as hell but I couldn't look away..
same here man i loved this froum of Animation more then the other two becuase these Animation flims take more skills then the other two froums of Animation
It's like everytime Animat ends of an Alice movie. There always scary scenes at the end. First Hungry Donald scary stare. And now the nightmare version of Alice. It's like screamers.
All hope is not lost for the Lou Bunin ALICE film. Animation historian Steve Stanchfield is currently working on a Blu-Ray containing Bunin's films, with commercials, short films and the ALICE feature itself (from the MoMA print you mentioned). He also put out a BluRay/DVD combo of Max Fleischer's GULLIVER TRAVEL'S (with bonus Fleischer cartoons, natch) using actual 35mm Technicolor prints, blowing all other copies out of the water.
Ya know, i watched The golden Key, and i find it very interesting. The creators used some nice ideas: Stop Motion (To portray Alice and Basilio, Burattino's face movement and Artemon (portrayed by a real poodle) packing up Turcoise haired girl's things) Split-screen (like Where Alice the vixen and Basilio the cat were begging) Puppetering (in scenes like where Burattino interacts with Duremar, Carabas-Barabas and Father Carlo) Combined scenery (so actors portraying puppets would look smaller by comparison to normal people)
Really great so far! You mentioned quite a few films I'm not familiar with that I'll definitely have to look for. I'm looking forward to what's next. :)
14:35-14:46 JESUS CHRIST!!!! WHAT THE HELL?! WAS THAT FILM INTENDED TO CAUSE NIGHTMARES?!! and that bunny on 12:01-12:06 scared me a bit too but not as much as that "other" Alice movie. A comment I had in my head for a long time since I first quoted here while pausing: 5:15 For those who don't know, The Golden Key is a Soviet retelling of Carlo Collodi's Pinocchio; where the main puppet character Buratino (learn the Russian accent to pronounce it correctly, if you want) goes on an adventure, even with the help of his puppet friends, to solve the mystery of the Golden Key and not let it fall into the hands of the evil puppeteer Karabas Barabas (again, learn the accent for this one). I know it because I grew up with both the live action (ruclips.net/video/WRZKtgwOTLA/видео.html) and animated (ruclips.net/video/7Ar_eJZMtqk/видео.html) This whole quote I had in my mind since I first quoted it here and thought it be nice to put it in the comments
A very interesting tidbit of animation history. Will you make special video talking about the works of Ivo Caprino, the creator of the Pincliffe Grand Prix?

Also even though it is now consider a classic it was made for TV, has some bad stop motion, and I'm probably gonna get hate for this but I think some of the characters are unlikable

R.I.P. Ray Harryhausen.

I can't decide if it's impressive or sad that the 1920s propaganda retelling of Gulliver's Travels is infinitely better than Jack Black's movie.
@@realar That's the definitive film adaptation of Gulliver's Travels as far as I'm concerned.
The Fleisher brothers version is my favorite rendition!
Definitely a major YES! We do not talk about the 2010 disgrace to Jonathan Swift’s satirical novel.
I can't wait until you do the Ray Harryhausen films. He, and Nick Park, were the reasons why I wanted to be an animator.

Gotta say, this is probably my FAVORITE media of animation and am so excited for this lookback series!! MOAR PLEASE
I was waiting on the inevitable Svankmajer appearance and frankly, as a fan...100% A+++ sums up the experience perfectly, well done indeed
For stuff made almost a century ago, the animation is shockingly good.
I haven’t seen these stop motion examples before. Beautiful animation. Great video. Thanks.
