Whitney stood there singing 3 demanding songs back to back effortlessly and beautifully. People need to realize just how difficult this is. She didn’t take a break. She didn’t rely on dubbing/playback/lip syncing, she relied on her gift of voice. She stands by herself as The Voice. She sang 3 different genres of music-just a vocal beast that night-like it was nothing. Whitney was phenomenal.

But to sing a big jazz number, then a big Broadway musical number, then a big RnB ballad was unheard of and Whitney stood there with no breaks and a big full orchestra/band and was not drowned out by her voice was just phenomenal. Whitney just was in a league all on her own.

Mariah couldn’t do this set at any point in her career, her voice wouldn’t hold up. She’d either have to stop or lip sync an entire song.
Whitney is in total control here, not only with her voice but with the band aswell. If u look closely with her gestures she’s actually conducting the band! She’s pure talent and genius 🔥
This was back when the bodyguard smashed all record in sales of albums and singles she had won all the awards at all the award shows and she was basically the biggest star in the world the first time Michael was not number 1 in the world! She was unstoppable! Jennifer holiday was hating she sang that song too! She was mad!!!
