Brilliant teaching Ms Lenora. My great teacher also taught me to use the 4th finger on the keys in octaves. I love your technique for relaxation in octaves. I have taught for 55 years and have seen students struggle with octaves. I’m now 70 and trying to get my own playing back on track but I find after teaching for so long I have lost much of the technique and memory ability I used to have when younger. I gained a Diploma in performance and a University degree. Which lessons would you recommend I use in your program? Thank you and I love your teaching style! You are wonderful! I can relate to you so well.
What a thoughtful comment! Thank you! I will be posting more future videos about technique so make sure to subscribe and turn on your notification bell. I am currently working on a technique course that will address all of the common problems I see students struggle with. We just released a free technique video training called Unique Piano Technique. It includes a PDF of 9 fun, creative exercises. Here’s the link pianolessons.brillantepianoduo.com/unique Please let me know specifically what you struggle with and I’ll try to make some RUclips videos for you. Thanks again!
Great tips!! Thank you. Will keep these in mind for future practice. My go to exercise for octaves is hanons #51 exercise (part 3 of book). My hands always hurt after playing them haha😂 will see if these tips help make them easier.
Yes octaves are difficult for beginners. But it’s good to know how to play them with proper form as a beginner so you don’t develop bad habits. Thanks for commenting!
Thank you for the techniques. I really struggle with tension with octaves. I really appreciate these exercises.
Thanks so much for letting me know it was helpful! Most people struggle with tension. It’s a journey to figure out what works best for you.
Very informative video. We absolutely love and adore Ms. Lenora.
Thanks so much Katerina! 💖

Hopefully your hands only feel fatigue and not pain! Definitely try these techniques out when you’re practicing Hanon :)
Easier said than done for a beginner!

I found your lesson very interesting, thank you. It did seem that you cat was totally bored 😂
Haha yeah my cat wants attention 24/7!
**WARNING** If you feel any pain when doing stretching exercises. STOP IMMEDIATELY! You should feel the tension but never, ever pain.
Yes absolutely! I should have mentioned that in this lesson.
