@@francismarquis2058 i started triathlon at age 14 and eventually joined the german national league but i never watched a race from the outside. so boring.
“Because you’re forcing me to” 😂🤣. I love this guy. The change in attitude and demeanor after a not so great race shows incredible growth from you Lionel. Good work. Can’t wait to see what’s next.
No one really cares if you come in dead last. And funnily enough no one is here just to see you break the tape, because if we were we’d be watching Patrick Langue’s recap video (if it exists). Forever grateful for you letting us come along the process and live out the dreams and thoughts of an elite triathlete. Stay you Lionel ❤
You have motivated literally 100's of women and men through your video journey. An investment in the future athletes of the world. Lionel, you must be very proud.
Thank you for all these videos. I am a 58y old that ended up walking most of the run at the Rio de JAneiro 70.3 this year. I told myself at the time I would never do this again and even put my TT on the market for sale. After watching the videos I took my TT out of the market and started training again. Thank you for all you are doing. Congrats on the race last Saturday. No Limits Bros.!!!
❤ You won Lionel, you won so much. I know & understand the disappointment. Kona is most brutal competition in the world. You have no idea how inspring you are, i had a tremendous moment on this vlog serie. I watched an amazingly dedicated warrior Thank you so much Lionel, Talbot & your wonderful family .
Hey Lionel. I know it is tough to do the interview after a race that did not go as planned, but it is great to see the positive attitude and constructive self reflection. Good luck with the upcoming training and races.
Without this series there would have been zero build up and hype to Kona. Loved it. Thanks for getting me excited for the race. Crowdfund the New Zealand trip boys come on
Lionel, I'm super grateful for all of the time you took throughout your time in Kona to share the countless hours of training and effort it takes to be one of the best athletes in the sport of triathlon. You're honest, you're a fighter, and it inspires not only me, but countless other triathletes to perform at their best and never give up. I hope I have the honor of sharing the course with you in New Zealand. If not, enjoy your well deserved offseason!
Your drive, honesty, and grit redefine what it means to push limits and inspire us all to keep chasing our potential, no matter the setbacks. Thank you for showing the reality behind greatness - the ups, downs, and everything in between. Keep being a force, Lionel!
Continuous zone 2 training is a great idea, based on everything you said. I’d recommend trying to make it more enjoyable by going on rides, runs, and swims outside in nature, go to new places, explore the great outdoors. This will give you variability and keep it fresh and interesting. I know it’s a lot easier to just train indoors in a controlled environment but the races are outside and conditions can be unpredictable. Train your body for that unpredictability that you’ll inevitably face on race day. 🎉 great job! I love the channel, and could not care less what position you place in. I’m just along for the ride and enjoying every video.
First time I’ve followed an Ironman so closely, I really loved these videos and it resulted in me glued to the tv watching Hawaii, and also highly motivated for my own triathlon training . Thanks , so so appreciated the video quality , humour and insight. Good luck for next one
Lionel always has the greatest take on races that didn't go his way. No excuses, no blaming others, conditions, etc. Just, "welp that was another data point and it didn't go as I thought, better learn from this." That is what every one of us age groupers should take from him. Sometimes races don't go your way, figure it out and correct!
Doesn’t matter what place you finish. You portray courage, strength, perseverance, and understanding there’s always learning opportunities from every performance in sport and life. The example you set for your fans and especially for your family and little man are priceless.
Lionel, you are a true inspiration. Watching you train and listening to you break it all down gets my juices flowing! I was cheering for you the whole race and never doubted a finish. Get back to it and conquer Kona '26!
The most anticipated post race interview! Everyone wants to know what happened because we love and respect your attitude and training! People love you because you’re Lionel, regardless of whether you win or lose. On the subject of training, everyone seems to agree that you train as hard as anyone, or even harder. That’s maybe part of the solution? Some of us feel you arrive at the race overtrained. As you’ve noticed the run makes or breaks you, and pushing too hard on the bike certainly doesn’t help. I’m sure you’ll figure out some kind of recipe very soon 😜
Thanks a lot for all of the pure entertainment in the last few weeks, what a masterpiece Lionel and Talbot were putting together for us fans, absolutely genius..
You will always motivate me and I am fairly sure everyone that follows you feel the same way. Keep going mate, enjoy the journey and of course count your blessings. You have a beautiful family and at the end of the day that is what really matters
Thanks so much Lionel for these honest thoughts. It’s just amazing to see pros not only when there are at their best but when things are struggling. (Everyone else who smiles about you is too afraid to do the same anyway ;)) it’s also very inspiring for me as an age grouper. @talbot really appreciate those brilliantly created videos. Super fun, entertaining and well shot. Please keep up this work it’s what makes triathlon a special sport
Hey Lionel, you are THE ambassador for our sport. I'm so thankful that you, Talbot and RUclips came along at the time you did, for the world to enjoy. Many thanks for sharing the journey.
I was so excited to see the new vlog then realised I’ve got to wait a bit longer! Hope Lionel is recovering well and looking forward to his race report and once again, thanks for putting these videos together, they have been enjoyed by many and won Lionel even more fans 😊
1. So incredibly excited to see Lionel motivated, level-headed, introspective after this. 2. Great athletes are motivated by failure, rather than destroyed by it. As seen here, even though it was more learning than “failure.” 3. The process, even though it was probably painstakingly annoying for Lionel, was so incredibly motivating to me. Helping me stay disciplined to “get my work in” so I can watch Lionel today. Thank you for documenting the process. It’s always motivating.
Awesome achievement Lionel. From one Canuck to another, you have a great mindset and yes ' Perspective Is Everything'...forget the chatter, 'Purpose' is everything...so keep up the great work...keep on!
way to go Lionel! love that you are in a good head space! You can do it man! keep your NO LIMITS attitude! Thanks for sharing the journey and keeping it real!
Lionel - I’m here in my 9-5, and you inspire me every day with these videos. You’re my hero, inspiration and someone I wish I could be in another lifetime. We’ll forever be grateful for your energy, passion and transparency.
Lionel, you are inspiring! Thanks for sharing your life with us in the past few days and letting us to be a part of it. We will cheer for you anywhere!
Lionel and Talbots videos are moving the entire sport of Ironman forward and are a treasure trove of knowledge for current and up and coming athletes. You two are responsible for the most positive impact on this sport. Thank you.
I was chomping at the bit for this. Thanks a bunch for sharing this series and I look forward to more to come. Your assessment of needing continuous sessions is spot on - include TRAIN AS YOU SHALL RACE. Yes, intervals are important in order to raise what's possible for the continuous levels of exertion.
Thanks for all the videos, it’s been an inspiring journey for us, the small triathletes. Keep up the good work Talbot. Lionel you are an inspiration. Thank you!
Thank you for deciding to make this video. I’m pretty sure all of us were waiting for it since the last Kona episode before race day. If it means sometime to Lionel I think he is going in the right direction. This year was his fastest Kona race with the exception of the year he got second place (2017). He went faster on the swim and the bike and the only slower discipline from the 2017 year was the run. I hope he can see that and doesn’t get too discouraged. By the way I checked his results since 2016.
This man proves excellence!!! absolutely one of the best triathlete of all time. He's pushing HIS limit. This is an independent race against himself, true athlete. He will go down in history❤

Sending great vibes to you both - my family has been glued to the Kona vlogs, and we’ve loved every second of your journey. Much respect and admiration 🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️❤️🏊🚲🏃♂️
Lionel is a remarkable athlete who has had a significant impact on my journey, particularly inspiring me to complete my first Ironman. While I have great admiration for him, it's important to recognize that he may not be in his peak performance anymore. The competition in the field has become exceptionally strong. An analogy can be drawn between Lionel and Phil Mickelson; much like Mickelson faced challenges in dominating during Tiger Woods' era, Lionel is now contending with his impressive talents. Lionel was not built to lose and it is taxing on his mental health. Love him and wish him the best!!!
Keep on embracing the journey Lionel!!! Inspiring to watch you go after it. I’m sitting on the fence of giving up triathlon but your content gives me motivation. Thanks so much for sharing everything. Nice has incredible descending speeds and cornering. Doing that that in the aero position takes a ton of confidence and a lot of practice, which is why i did it on my road bike. Start working on that asap !!!!
Hey Lionel, it's not about being right everytime - It's about being reflective and authentic, and you nail both. It was a pleasure to have an insight at your Kona experience. I wish you all the best for your journey to find your best self in IRONMAN.

You have been at this for a long time. You have inspired so many people for so many years. Last year I was in a complete shithole and I read about your story in a book and it inspired the hell out of me.
