What do you think of the Saturn Mike Bell Incident? Did Saturn deserve worse punishment for going too far or did Mike Bell have it coming for being unsafe?
No it seems like guy admits it maybe its like had PTSD or some issues. I know Kronos had problems or many said he was crazy or things like that. Saturn was not all right he could have had other issues. Trying to be entertaining stuck on a show nobody watches with his career spiraling down. He fit great in ECW even as the Flock was fine but its hard to go from Hairspray to the Rocky Horror Picture Show to Duggan as the Janitor who finds the Hardcore Title. Would he really have broken his neck from not having mats there? I seen guys take some massive bumps without anything there or jumping into the audience or guardrails. Perry probably didn't know what to do or lost his temper. Then when started to get to point probably warned the guy to not keep going. Like why in the world would he even kickout if that finish? Maybe he said something or there is more to the story. Guy could have been high or just clueless. Nobody really got injured. Most never even knew those shows existed either heh.
I think the kickout was Bell asking Saturn to let him redeem himself. Finish the match, get to the back and maybe still remain hireable. Its clear Saturn didnt lose his cool again on the kickout so it was definitely to show he needed to right his wrong and show Saturn he will comply
@@JOBdOut Oh I thought it was like how they will kickout of moves to show up the person or so. Though I guess he could have been talking to him then. I would have never thought of him wanting to get himself redeemed hehe. Yeah if it was a negative I guess Saturn would have really flipped out or went stiff.
Saturn said that when Bell throw him on his head, he couldn't remember nothing.

Honestly, as much as i liked Saturn, Dishing out a receipt for the initial botch was an acceptable reaction, but continuing the beating after that was unprofessional.
I'm glad someone said this because I think it's spot on. He's new he's nervous and less experienced than you. He didn't purposely try to harm you and what he did caused you no serious damage what so ever. Give him a receipt, a rough close line or lay in a punch.... but what Perry did was disgusting to me.
Agreed, I trained very briefly in pro wrestling and I had a pretty good arm drag, it absolutely shocks me that a guy good enough to be a wwe jobber would have such a crap arm drag, that thing was SLOPPY
Big respect to Terry though, her professional behavior, calming Saturn down, a kicking bell out of ring probably saved the man some huge injuries.
The kicks to get him out of there and save his life was quick thinking for sure.

Exactly. If mike still didn't settle down after that, saturn would have then been justified handing out a steeper receipt.
It’s a shame that Saturn just never had a chance to become a star in the WWF. Whether the Mike Bell incident a shoot or not, it’s clear that Saturn was punished for his own good. But wherever he is right now (the guy was dealing with numerous health issues), I hope he’s doing well in 2023. Saturn is perhaps one of the biggest “What Could’ve Been” forgotten wrestlers in WWE history.

tbh i dont think mike bell 'had it coming' for being unsafe. i do believe he shouldve been punished, but maybe not... the way that he was by saturn. the facepalm reaction was quite obvious, but he was nervous, and pobably was trying to perform well enough to get a job. but uh... yeah
Perry Saturn during this time was like the love child of Goldberg and Scott Steiner. Dude was juiced to the gills at this time.

To me it is disgusting when i feel like someone makes an honest, accidental mistake where no one gets any sort of serious harm and their more experienced opponent seems to use that as an excuse to try and get themselves over by harming their opponent and putting his/her life and career in jeopardy. I hate watching that stuff.
Being in the wrestling business I know people get hit with potatoes a lot. I know were Saturn is coming from I had a 400lb man do a springboard moonsault on to my head giving me a concussion. I told the ref I see stars with my eyes open, ringing in the ears, and I can taste (The iron), and smell blood. Ref said there is no blood tho. So long story. I wanted to get him and kick the guys ass but I didn't Saturn should have headlock tell him slow it down kid then continued the match... Sorry for the long story.
No need to apologize. I'm sorry about your injury and happy you chose to spoke about it. My first concussion in the ring came from being thrown over the top rope without realizing the cables underneath the ring had snapped - not nearly as entertaining a story :D

Moppy may have gotten Saturn more over but it killed any remaining chance of climbing the ladder in WWE. Comedy gimmicks are fine for talent that will clearly never reach the main event level and maybe Perry wouldn't have either but he could have gotten a lot closer without choosing a mop as a love interest.
I remember a episode of raw. Ray Mysterio vs kane.
Ray drop kicked Kane busting his lip. And kane stomped the shit out of him (and wouldn't stop) and the ref waved his arms. Ending the match. I couldn't fucking believe what I was seeing. And I knew it was real, cause there wasn't even a pin. Kane lost it, and the ref stopped the match immediately. I always wondered (am I the only one seeing this? WTF) im sure you can find it....
I'll look for that, I dont remember there being an incident between the two but if it wasn't a work I should find some info on it

I can understand a couple stiff swings on the guy after that, but after he should have slowed it down to a hold like you said so they could.communicate and get things back on track. Throwing him out of the ring in such an unsafe manner was really unprofessional. Props to Terri for realizing something needed to be done.
Perry Saturn really surprised me when he lost it like that. I guess when you get knocked on your head it might have taken him to the point that he wasn't thinking straight and just reacted

I believe from what I have observed,that the veteran in a match should always lead and teach.The other should be willing to learn, and listen.
They were both veterans though having worked a decade. As an enhancement talent Bells roll was to make Saturn look good - clearly his nerves got the better of him
Sometimes this stuff is justified. But I really feel like Saturn could have slowed this down and helped get him back on track. But not doing that, he pretty much decided on his own to ruin this guy's opportunity and legitimately try to break the guy's neck in the process. Considering Saturn's position in the company, I don't think he had any right to decide that.
His punishment would result in the biggest push WWE would give him. Don't know if you stumbled on my other video but there's a widely accepted saying "Mike Bell got the beating that Brian Gamble deserved"
about 1987 I watched a non televised card in Milwaukee WI where Jake Roberts and Randy Savage spit, punched, and cussed each other for 20 minutes. I attended live wrestling for 20 years before this and have lots of stories, but this was very confusing live.

Saturn has said in shoot interviews that when he took the botched hiptoss onto his head he was suddenly knocked a bit goofy and thought he had been shot on and thought he was responding in kind, not that he was pissed off by a botched spot and was punishing Bell. Supposedly according to him he got to the back and people were coming up to him like "How could you do that to a good hand like Mike Bell?" and he had no idea what they were talking about because he was still knocked goofy...
If he was still knocked goofy then he wasn't that tough. Balloney. I heard he was a bully. So. Maybe he just wanted to keep his rep as a tough guy by beating up some jobber.
There's literally a shoot about it with Perry talking about it, and yeah he freaked over the head landing spots, but threw bell out of the ring to gather himself. The spot with the steps is a normal spot he'd do.
Should have put him in a hold early and try to get him back on track. Saturn need to cool his Jets, in other words, keep it under control.
You really dropped the Mop not doing a UHF joke from that guy Stanley or what was his name who did all the shows heh. Saturn always thought was great in ECW along with Kronos they were Champions for a reason. He had a lot of potential in Flock or WCW that never got there wearing the dress which was his idea then it got worse in WWF with the Mopsy thing. His peroxide is to blame in that like Big Poppa Pump look or Billy Graham or Blond guy from this Commodore Epyx Wrestling nobody but me would remember hehe. I think he is like a trained Military guy like Special Ops or Green Beret or Airborne Ranger or something legit. Maybe I'm thinking of Kronos or somebody else. His training probably took over. Happy Feet are for Women ;).

@@JOBdOut Yeah maybe Saturn thought he wanted to tussle. Either way if drop me on neck I'd probably flip out as have a fusion. I remember this dude playing football in gym. He kept annoying me. Was type to be calling pass interference or wanting like calls on every play. So I irked him I guess. He started swinging at me wildly with like haymakers would see in wrestling. I was just backing to the line of scrimmage but when he connected to my nose. It didn't hurt me but I dispatched him quickly. So got him in stomach least 5 times to where he was bent over. I was going to do like the sledge kinda thing when people pulled away hehe. I just reacted its fight or flight right ;)? I was actually friends with the dude so it was HS Gym class. Just getting punched in the nose set me off. If nobody stopped me I would have grounded him into pulp probably heh.

@@JOBdOut Hehe well I just try to avoid conflict as can hurt my hand or things like that. It didn't hurt but I bet he felt my reaction haha. IF I was not the job guy I think Watts would not have to worry about me. I'm not Road Warrior kinda big so its kinda heh. Though I'm faster than most so if a person can't react. If end up on ground is when person can stomp or kick. Always try to stay on your feet even if you roll with things. Wrestlers should be tough I never thought of running into ring to handle Hawk or Animal among many others. Those promoters are like Mafia Crooks its a Carny Business with lots of Shade ;).
The steps thing, he does it every match. He maintains it wasn't a shoot he just just needed time to recover.
Saturn was a bad ass in WCW but was seen as a joke in WWE. He never had a chance.
Didn't Bell get a settlement from the WWE because of this? I can't remember who, but a jobber once got a pretty good payday because of a similar incident.
I want to say youre thinking of Chuck Austin. He got injured by the rockers on a bad bump. Bell would continue to work and do jobs for WWE into 2003.
@@JOBdOut I think there was another guy that MTV were making a wrestling show about who was beaten pretty badly on Heat, I think they cancelles the show mid production but I don't think he got a settlement, its been so many years I cannnot remember now.

This match happened on my 23rd birthday! But I wasn't following any wrestling at the time. I got back into it around 2007 after I had watched it as a teen in the 90s. RIP Mike Bell.

Dude was a huge admitted user of drugs and roids - not unbelievable that he would be a hookup especially if it got him in good with the boys as he desperately wanted to be a big name in wrestling. Here's the strange thing about this incident Perry Saturn (is a Scorpio ♏️ astrologically) & Mike Bell (is a Pisces ♓️ astrologically) two astrological signs meant to be compatible. Unfortunately, maybe Perry Saturn overreacted from Mike Bell being anxious, too rash, & overly eager bound to make a mistake. But it's really sad & pathetic that Saturn got punished & was placed with something that absurd like a mop. I really hated that crap back in the day.
