Can anyone name the lady on the right side of the thumbnail? 😉
Lita
@Bobby That is correct sir!
Look up his fight between him and Adrian Adonis, it's a shoot interview, that was/has been backed up by various other wrestlers. ✌️
Danny gives much more information on it then Taker did.
That's if you haven't already.
Amy Dumas!
That's not Life that's Fyre. Aka Terri Byrne of the Nitro Girls.
When undertaker says ur a bad man you really proved yourself in real life.
Yes indeed!
Undertaker vs Waylon Mercy would’ve been an EPIC rivalry
Big Dollar Dan the left hand man should've just been his gimmick in wrestling. what a prime nickname
Right! He could have been the original Godfather!
Spivey tutored two of the greatest big men ever, Sid and Taker
Just a shame that Sid took softball more seriously lol
Not to mention Scott Hall as well.
@@Zero8880
He didnt mentor Hall, they literally broke into the business together
@@bigglilwayne7050 You may be right. I thought Spivey was in the business a little bit longer before they started tagging as American Starship.
Did you just say Sid is one of the best big men ever? Maybe the best top rope injury ever.
I met him in line at a concession stand at a WWF house show in Binghamton NY when I was a kid. It was shortly after he replaced Barry Windham in the US Express. I was scared to say anything to him at first because he was absolutely massive in person. I eventually turned around and waved to him, and he knelt down and talked to me. He was really cool to my dad and I. That was the first time I had ever met a professional wrestler.
I remember meeting the Mongolian Stomper once as a teenager and being scared to death of the guy because he had to be the meanest looking guy I ever saw, but once I shook his hand and talked to him he was the nicest guy you’d ever want to meet !!
Salutation’s from cuse town
That’s cool as fuck
@@LBStirlo- Hell yeah, way cool.
A lot of these guys need to realize that interacting with fans for a few minutes can create lifetime supporters!
I think I remember Spivey saying that he was pissed that Hawk and Animal were taking liberties with Taker , likely because he was still relatively new. (Hence the beatdown) Animal was interviewed about it and downplayed it…guess it goes back to the old school mentality…a bully isn’t going to stop unless you fight back
It’s a damn shame that Spivey had to retire by 96. Imagine a Taker vs Waylon Mercy feud
That's crazy to think anyone would take liberties with Taker but as you stated, he was green and probably didn't want to start problems.
Taker and Waylon Mercy were scheduled to start feuding in October 1995 but it just didn't happen 😔
@@stedarkside1529 that would have been such a great feud, we were robbed!
That doesn't apply these days. If you fight back, be it mentally, verbally or physically, they will just play the victim.
Wow! I didn't know he retired so early. He was truly great. He had the size. But, he GOT IT about being a good heel.
I met Dan Spivey when I was 13 at a hotel is South Carolina. I was on vacation with my aunt and uncle and he and a few other wrestlers happen to be staying their which we had no clue. He was so freaking cool man, he is definitely a massive dude! He was so much bigger in real life than he looks on tv. But he was a complete stand up guy. This was back in 97. I’ll never forget.
I was bouncing at a bar and Dan hung out with me outside all night. I knew who he was but we talked like two normal guys and I'm sure he liked that. We talked a lot about the business, fishing, living in Florida, etc. One of the coolest guys I've ever met.
I hope to meet him someday everyone has nothing but good things to say about him!
As a bouncer, you DEFINITELY want to be friends with Dan if he walks in the bar. :D
I used to bounce at a local bar about 9 years ago. Honest to god, I broke up more fights before they happened with popcorn. The bar made popcorn and gave it to the customers for free.
It works better than a pool cue. :D
You know for a fact that if a fight started or some wannabe tough guy wants to fight the bouncer and Dan's probably thinking ' this is what I've been waiting for BIG SMILE 😁,'..
That was the Road Warriors being real tough guys that took just as much as they gave. They loved battles. Most wrestler said that about them
Dan spivey is a really nice and intelligent man. The rumors about his toughness and "no nonesense" tone are well known among the boys that knew him.
Well I hope to meet him some day!
@@wrestlingwithart you wouldn't be disappointed! He's a good guy with lots of stories
Love Dan. I like the guys' whose real personality was even tougher than the worked one
He was such an underutilized talent
@@wrestlingwithart from the stories ive heard is that his knees were both shot at the time from football injuries🤘🤘
That’s why he was called the left hand man, one left hand to Adonis in the back.
The first I knew of Dan Spivey was his Waylon mercy character when I was about 9 years old and man he really frightened me even in that new generation pg era , if only he was 10 years younger he would of had a great run with that character 😮
I loved that gimmick!
Dan Spivey was sadly underrated.
Their tag team name was The Skyscrapers.
They had one of the best entrance announcements; they were billed as being from "Wherever they damn well please..."
Let’s put this into context taker has been around the scene for over 30 years has seen a lot of very tough dudes. The fact that he mentions Dan in such high regard tells you everything you need to know Dan was a monster provoked honky-tonk says he was one of the nicest guys you could meet but don’t piss him off
By scene you you VinceWorld. All I remember is a Chicago street, a masked douche, and a big negative. Kudos to Vince he created the ultimate scapegoat. Big Red, bowed to Vince., And just due a void, was able to market a phenom to countless marks(Callous.) it's okay to be part of it but quit trying to spit shine a turd.
Truly awesome & cool dude, I had the privilege & honor of meeting Dan when he was Waylon Mercy at a WWF house show, very friendly.
I remember being in the airport down in Atlanta in '89 or '90...just packed, a sea of people. I'm looking at the heads of all these people and I see one head standing above all the rest...Dan Spivey's head. Recognized him right off from about 100' away. It was awesome.
I loved Waylon Mercy
when I was a kid in 1989 I had a front row seat to a local house show, and Danny Spivey & Sid Vicious were the Skyscrapers and were scheduled to fight, but Vicious was a no-show; as a kid I was disappointed I didn't get to see Sid Vicious. I had no idea who this substitute partner was w/ Spivey. Now, I realize...it was The Undertaker. lol. So, I actually got to watch Undertaker live from the front row...and had no idea at the time. I didn't even realize Mean Mark Callous and The Undertaker were the same person until around the time Taker retired nearly 3 decades later. lol.
That is an awesome story!
Lucky!
Wow, good story ,hard to believe you just realized Mean Mark was the Undertaker.
@Richard Morris to be fair, yesterday on Mick Foley's podcast, he said he almost didn't recognize Mark as the Undertaker and they used to share rides and hotel rooms.
It took me 4 or 5 years Into the undertaker gimmick To realize That was mean mark And I really liked mark when I was a kid .
I met Dan at a UGA football watch party in Tampa and he was as nice a guy as they come. Some of the nicest guys have a switch, guess don't flip it.
Waylon Mercy knows how to throw a good picnic. Hooat dooooooooogs.
🤣🤣🤣
Dan Spivey helped a lot of wrestlers become stars. I don't think he gets the credit he's due.
Wrong. He was there when THEY became stars.
His own ego was what kept him from being a star. Everyone he tagged with went on to be a superstar.
‘Taker is off with what he is telling here. Spivey THINKS he tore into the Road Warriors and scared them out of the ring.
That stuff was all soft af. Those supposedly hard shots were anything but.
The reason they didn’t fight was because it was a work. Mark didn’t know that it was a work because he was, by his own admission,
GREEN.
They weren’t scared at all. Spivey acts like he scared them by beating them up.
Bullshit.
Adrian Adonis was a slob. Big deal.
@@elijahrobinson2362
He wasn't there when they became stars, he tagged with them BEFORE they were stars... And to downplay Spivey as some kind of jabroni is just ignorant, the man made big money in Japan for years...
@@elijahrobinson2362
He would've beat the fk out Hawk and Animal, which they were well aware of... You act like Adonis is the only thing he's known for, Spivey worked for the Trafficante's in Tampa, add some knowledge to that 5 cent brain and look them up, tough guy...
The undertaker is the coolest celebrity I've ever met
I'm going to tell you something Dan spivey is a great man. If you have Dan spivey as a friend then you got the best friend ever.
I really want to meet him! I loved the Waylon Mercy character.
I met Dan at USF in Tampa around '94. Super nice guy. Adrian must have REALLY pushed his buttons for Dan to pop off on him.
Adonis was notorious for taking liberties.

I remembered the Undertaker from the Sky Scrapers when he first appeared in WWF.
Talk about a repackage!!!
Those matches between the LOD and The Sky Scrapers were awesome. It was really the only time I remember seeing them in the ring with 2 guys that I legit thought could kick their asses.
Except for The Steiner Brothers.
As far as big guy matches, Steiners vs Road Warriors was the super bowl!!!
Sounds like Dan was truly dangerous.
Who would have tought that the least imposing and muscular of the Skyscrappers would be the toughest?..
I met Big Dollar Dan, The Left-hand Man in St. Augustine, Florida. He was a chill dude.
Waylon Mercy, to this day, was/is one of my all time favorite wrestling character ... something about that character that just grabbed at you, it's just too bad that Danny was too beat up at that time already, still had a pretty nice run
He was definitely an underrated character and an inspiration for Bray Wyatt's character.
And the cool part is that Bray went to Dan's house to ask if he could use the mannerisms of the Waylon character
@Dillon Radke that's awesome! I wasn't aware of that! I have met hundreds of wrestlers over the years and I hope I can meet Dan before it's too late!
@@wrestlingwithart he seems like a humble guy
@@dil09ful I'm sure he has some great stories to tell! I wonder if he has ever written a book.
Man I love hearing these stories. 🤘🤘
That match with the Road Warriors is brutal. You can tell Mark is mostly along for the ride and fearful of a payback. Spivey was a real tough guy.
Fast forward 30 years and Mark is the most respected man in the business!
Yeah. The only guy Mark wanted to fight backstage was a much smaller HBK who had a broken back
@@SychoSam ya, hbk was the baddest dude in the locker room at the time due to being Vince and Pat Pattersons boy toy.
@@rjskum688 😁
Taker had some great guys around him in the beginning of his career. The LOD, Spivey, Foley, Funk.
If Mark wanted to be an asshole, there's not many people that could have done much about it. Really cool guy.
Loved this story. Really enjoying the undertakers stories. Especially the ones from his WCW days. I absolutely loved the skyscrapers and knew mean Mark AKA the undertaker was going to be a star one day.Hated when he left. But also happy he succeeded.
I posted another video the other day, my most recent post, about the time Paul Bearer ribbed Taker with a cucumber.
I met Spivey when he was on tour in Japan....Kool dude
That's awesome! I hope to meet him one day too!
Lives are gonna be in…..Waylon Mercy’s hands…..Ya know what I mean?? Good that was such a great gimmick.
I think the only man scarier than Waylon Mercy was Dan Spivey`s real persona
🤣🤣🤣 this may very well be true!
It is unreal, Waylon Mercy has not been brought back with the Wyatt family and all.
@alanguages especially since Waylon Mercy was the inspiration for Bray Wyatt. Vince is probably afraid of him lol

@Neil English maybe if it were a sci fi gimmick lol
@@wrestlingwithartHawk was tough as well but not as legit tough as Dan Spivey was
Spivey was a cool dude and he cool work. I liked him in WWF as Waylon Mercy. It's basically the Bray Wyatt character but less crazy and supernatural.
Undertaker has the best stories he needs to write a book a tell all kinda book
Dan Spivey Joked That Undertaker Was The Baddest Mofo On The Planet He Looked Scary And Had The Nickname Of O.D The Original Deadman
I could tell even with the skyscrapers mark aka undertaker was gonna be a great.
He seems to have been born to wrestle!
Dan Spivey was a regular for a short while at a Gun Shop I managed in Temple Terrace, Florida. He went shooting sporting clays with the owner of my shop; Discount Guns (now out of business). Nice guy.
That's cool. I love hearing about what wrestlers do after their ring days.
I remember him when I was a little and he always reminded me of Hulk Hogan. I don't remember what promotion he was in, maybe the NWA but he used to wear yellow trunks.
Yeah when he was called the Golden Boy. I would always mistake him for Hogan in battle royals
Danny inspired Bray Wyatt's character, discussing it with Windham Rotunda for the Wyatt Family - Cult Leader!
You are correct. The young guys wouldn't know that though lol
@@wrestlingwithart lol! Aye 🤜🤛
Correct. Waylon Mercy was a HUGE influence for the Bray Wyatt cult leader gimmick (Hawaiian shirts etc)
Dan and Sid and undertaker are scary big Budda Fawkrz!!
I respect Taker for waiting until Animal died before he told the story.
Undertaker was still wrestling and staying in character when Animal was alive. So of course he wouldn't talk about it then. Taker never did interviews like this untill recently
HOLY SHIT!!! I REMEMBER MEAN MARK CALLOUS AND DANGEROUS DAN SPIVEY!!!! I was born in 1980 and only saw you 2 together in the ring once!! Damn...I cannot believe I just stumbled onto this video!!
i remember a guy from my neighborhood when i was about 16. i;m 66 now. anyways this guy was like DAN size wise except he was a bully type who liked to intimidate the neighborhood. well, he got into a fender bender with another driver who was about 160 pounds soaking wet. the big guy it was reported started shoving the guy around and making threats. the little guy went to his trunk, pulled out a 38 and shot the big guy in the thigh and knee. the point is you can be the biggest, toughest, strongest guy out there, but don't use it to bully people because you just might bully the wrong one.
i woulda friggin paid good money to see dan spivey and david shultz go at it ..
Great editing
Thank you!
I've heard that Spivey was a legit tough guy with a hard hitting left hook!
That's why they call him Big Dollar Dan the left hand man lol
Ya..if Adrian Adonis was still alive you can probably ask him on how it felt being clobbered by Spivey when they had a real fight one time.
Lives are gonna BE, in Waylon Mercy's hands.
He's got the whole world in his hands
Know what I mean?
I remember that incident with the chairs where Dan wore them out with those shots.
Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!! What a Rush!!!!!!!
Spivey is a funny dude. I saw an interview where he was asked why he didn't get a title or big push and he said "coz I sucked ... Obviously".
😂😂😂
The Spivey-Adonis story is the one that’s consistent no matter who tells it. Adonis goes for his legs when he got back to the locker room and Danny just fucking destroyed him with left hand after left hand. Hogan said the first punch sounded like a shotgun going off. He messed Adonis bad, like scary bad.
That made me smile. Lol
Dan Spivey is a great person. If you have issues with Dan then there is something wrong with you. Dan is one of the nicest people.
It’s funny how when people talk about the toughest men in wrestling, people like Harley Race, Haku and Rick Rude come up often, but with stories like this, how do those same people not bring up Dan Spivey? It sounds like his name should come up more in those discussions.
Maybe they are afraid to even speak his name. Lol
My last name is Spivey first wrestling show Dan was there Sacramento 80s
Not many people are as big or bigger than taker but Dan was
Theres nothing more badass about a person then to shoot on someone in the ring, and then have that person come up to you after the match, and thank you for putting them in their place. Yes the Road warriors were over, but Dan Spivey was trying to protect Mark, because the Road Warriors were refusing to sell for him, even after they (The sky scrappers) kept jobbing to them, the least you can do is just sell, your already going to win all the matches.
He'd have belted Haku
I remember when Sid Vicious left NWA & Mean Mark Callous teamed w Dan Spivey to keep The Skyscrapers team rolling; but the first time I saw Dan Spivey in WWF, they were calling him 'The Golden Boy'; then next time I saw him, he was one of The Skyscrapers w Sid, then later w Taker, long before his Wayland Mercy days during his second WWF run....
Waylon Mercy was his best gimmick!
@Wrestling With Art it was, but he was way past his physical prime w/ a bad back by the time they developed that gimmick for him; he was the best physical form of himself when he was Dangerous Dan Spivey during his Skyscrapers days....

Right! 🤣 Mark sure didn't!
Probably The Steiners. I don't think they would have cared what mood the Road Warriors came backstage with

That's probably the first time I've seen HAWK sell, let alone both Warriors
Right! Man I wish I attended shows back then!
I had a run in with Dan Spivey when I was about 20 in 1989 at Club Waterloo in Nassau, Bahamas. John "Laryngitis" I mean Laurinitis who was known as Johnny Ace at the time was standing with Spivey to buy a drink at the elevated patio bar and I was standing behind Spivey. Laurinit"ass" pinches Spivey's backside from the side. Spivey turns around and sees my 5 foot 6 inch 140 pound self and gives me a death glare. My brother was next to me and about 5 foot 9 but all I could think was Spivey chokeslamming me over the railing and 8 feet down to the grass. Luckily, Laurinitis must have sensed something about to go down that might land me in a wheelchair, hospital or grave, Spivey in a Bahamian prison and deportation and himself with a lifetime of guilt. He fessed up and Spivey diffused the situation without a hair harmed on my body. Even one of them gay dudes should know never ever touch Dan Spivey without permission. Not a pleasant feeling. Undertaker is probably the friendliest of the 3 WCW "Skyscrapers" but you don't want to make him or Sycho Sid Vicious/Justice mad any more than Spivey. Trust me on that one.
Lmao especially if Sid has scissors. Just carry a squeegee and you should be good lol
@@wrestlingwithart Hahahaha, But it was also Sid who used a squeegee to fight back against Pillman who showed him zero fear and despite the size difference seemed to be winning like AA was.

I like to know undertaker wrestler sting at house show
I feel like Mark Henry could crumple up a fridge to fit it in a small car like it was a cardboard box.
Greg Valentine saw Adonis about a week later at a venue where Adonis was supposed to wrestle Hogan. Valentine said that he didn't know a human head could swell that big. Adonis looked terrible. Valentine said it looked dangerous, it was so bad. Like he was fearing for Adonis' health. The management ended up sending Adonis home.
He said Spivey beat the living f*ck out of Adonis. And up till then, no one knew how dangerous Spivey was.
