I'm excited to hear you are gonna do something with it can't wait to see the content I say u get it done by next year and we both meet up and do the long haul on power tour with it I plan on having mine done by then
The deathproof Skylark has a nice ring to it. I feel like this is a legacy car... hear me out, it has escaped getting crushed/chopped up twice. It's VERY solid, especially for where you live in the rust belt. I would have to fix that car and give it to my kids one day if I were you. As for engine, 6.0L with the blower. FYI - Jeep Grand Cherokee steering boxes are a direct fit and a quicker ratio. (93-98 IIRC) Side benefit - you can use the LS truck power steering pump and lines with no adapter required - both metric threads. I see the car has front drum brakes, if you're keeping the 15" wheels... this won't work, but if you decide to go at least 16" - BRP Hot Rods sells brackets to use 98-02 F Body rotors and calipers on the original drum spindles. Otherwise, there are some very cheap budget disc brake kits out there for these cars. Hopefully you can find some original seats for it, they just fit so much better.
Great content, im a little bewildered to see, this Buick Abody, having the front body mounts as the double front mounts, just as convertible A body GM cars would have?? I always thought the hard top cars had the single front body to frame mounts? These are the very front, under the cowl, body mounts I am talking about. Maybe this is a buick thing?
I had a buddy that worked at shop they built a 55 Chevy there the customer brung Cadillac interior similar to that you're taking out the Buick and put it in the Bel Air turned out pretty good
Brother, Im so proud of you saving this car! Only mistake u did is saying its nearest thing to a Chevelle! No, that car is a whole another deal and had it's glamour... Dont let the chevy brand be ur reference for any other car maker! And I did notice something was wrong with last video guy's story because the 455 was in the GSX which was the highest trim on all Skylarks, which a good one of those in good shape are quite pricey and rare! No where on earth he had a GSX and wanted to scrap or else he doesnt know cars, so yeah story was waaay off, also... For an Engine... I d say build the Iron 6.0 for it, suits much more and keep the engine you fully built and already placed where it is! Yes please do this as a cruiser and looking cool with a bit of grunt like you put it! What amazes me is whole underside of the car and firewall state is quite real good, you d find rust patches and at times missing spaces totally on newer models for other makes, so such tough car deserves car and being put back on road again and you asked for namings and couldnt think of anything but DiCaprio's "Revenant" 👍👍👍
You will need a low profile oil pan and motor mounts also. I used the holley 302-1,but there are others. I have a 71 Oldsmobile Cutlass and did a LS swap and pretty much all of the A body's are the same.
