    Out of all the great artist from Oklahoma my home state and around the world I’m more proud of her than any. She’s a great example of how to keep your integrity and soul in tact while conquering the Rock world and if you don’t think she did just that tune into Town House Party in 1958 and see the most beautiful firecracker in the world Rock the Stage. Elvis like myself loved her and I was so in love with her I asked my agent to get me on her show in Tulsa free and they did. It was the highlight of my career. She also sang in church but realized she needed to be a witness to the world like Jesus said the sick need a physician. God bless you Wanda Jackson.

    Last night I saw her concert and she put on one high energetic show! I even got to meet her after the show and I even told her to 'keep doing what you do....'. She replied, "I'll try as long as I have my health!". Her husband was there as well

    What a class act, still sounds great too! So nice to know that she hasn't turned into a nostalgia act, she's still edgy, and I don't care what anyone says....sexy. Why has this great artist not received more exposure? Very sad really.

      Elvis started rock and before he hit it big, Wanda was a bigger star on country radio. Elvis dated Wanda when she was the headliner. He was the one who pushed her into doing Rockabilly. The reason she was held back from getting much radio airplay? Well it was sexism. Elvis was targeted by racists who tried to ban his records in the south. A rocking teenage girl who sang like a wild woman was just too suggestive. They were afraid of her. Some called her a sweet girl with a nasty voice. She was ahead of her time.

    Scotty Moore and D.J. Fontana at 2:33 , Bill Black died. Those were Elvis' backups at Sun Records.

    • @kentlewis987
      @kentlewis987 5 лет назад +1

      D.J. joined when Elvis signed to RCA. Most of Elvis's sun recordings featured Elvis tapping out the rhythm. A session drummer was used on a few.

    This secretive outfit was many years too slow to induct Wanda, and much to their great, great shame have still not added Connie Francis. Fortunately both Wanda and Connie were inducted into the HIT PARADE HALL OF FAME long ago.

  • @Ariesstubbornbutt

    I know. Connie should get something. I read somewhere she would have done more rock and roll but her parents didn't like it. I have no idea if that's true. I know she said she loved singing rock and roll.

    @miltonmoore8369 Год назад

    I NEVER GOT INTO ROCKABILLY, BUT WANDA HAS LONG BEEN MY FAVORITE FEMALE COUNTRY VOCALIST, EVEN THOUGH OTHERS OUTSOLD HER AND HAD MORE HITS.
    WHY SHE HAS NEVER BEEN ENSHRINED IN THE CMHOF IS
    INCOMPREHENSIBLE TO ME. OTHER ICONIC COUNTRY SINGERS WHO ARE IN THE SAME
    BOAT ARE: DAVID HOUSTON, SKEETER DAVIS, SLIM WHITMAN, ROY DRUSKY, JERRY WALLACE, DEL REEVES, MELBA MONTGOMERY, BOBBY LEWIS, BILL PHILLIPS, JOHNNY HORTON, DAVID ROGERS,
    CHARLIE RICH, FREDDIE HART AND JACK GREENE.

  • @frankiehiyo

    The people who run this organisation have some strange ideas on who should be inducted to the point of being bizarre. There are many more deserving artists who should have been included long ago, especially from the Fifties and early Sixties. Wanda is at last, Connie Francis is not, yet Connie has recorded a few rock and roll songs in my opinion.

    By the way move the Hall Of Fame to Memphis where it belongs. Not phony Cleveland. It was invented by our black folks and recorded by them first in the Mississippi Delta the Blues had a Baby and they called it Rock and Roll. They had an illegitimate gal and named her Jazzy. Jazz. All black folks. Hard Headed Woman one of Wanda’s biggest hits and Elvis number one hit was written by a black guy and it was the biggest hit he ever wrote.
