This was the classiest induction that I have seen so far from the R&R Hall of Fame. Bette Midler seems so geniune and Darlene Love is just a class act.
Bette is an extremely sweet person, & love her too, Bette Invited her to sing with her on stage in 2015, it was great, they both were great singing together, thank you, Bette, ❤️
Eddie Sloan so so so true she is above all others I am a great fan of her also Just wish I could see her perform but I’m in the UK I love her singing today I met the boy I’m gonna marry
Excellent intro by Bette Midler. Loved her remark about Darlene Love being cheated out of royalites which is so true. Screwed over yet not bitter ... amazing. Truly an amazing voice in the history of rock and roll and she still sounds fantastic. Congratulations to her ... at last!
What a voice! Darlene is everything that is great about rock and roll. I saw her last week in NYC -- if you get a chance to see her near you, don't miss her. A real class act.
If this woman was robbed from royalties with that incredible voice imagine all the artist who were robbed also. After experiencing all that this woman's positive attitude and love for our lord proves to me we can get through anything if we just have some faith especially in our God. So we'll deserved she has been singing with everyone. God Bless Darlene Love!❤️
Congratulations Darlene! You sure deserved it! And it was damned classy of you to speak so highly of Phil Spector. Sometimes madness and genius go hand in hand..
I remember watching this that night like it was yesterday. I have always loved Darlene Love. You go Girl yeeeeeees indeed. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💯💯💯💯💯💯💯👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Darlene’s talent and class are indescribable, and I can’t believe it took so long for her to be inducted. I love the connection she has with Paul and the CBS Orchestra, and I miss Darlene and Dave every Christmas. Thank goodness for RUclips. Keep singing with your beautiful voice and spirit, Ms. Love!!
Bette and Darlene are two kindred spirits....hearing Bette speak up for Darlene here, in 2011, is like hearing her speak up in 1972...Bette always remembers the ones that tugged at her heartstrings and made her think...and that's what you feel in her performance and interpretations of so many wonderful lyrics. Her memory...her heart.....Bette needs to be where Darlene is..in the Rock-n-Hall-Of-Fame, for her Generosity of Spirit thru Song...for always, always, remembering. Darlene, love you, 2!
today I met the boy I'm going to marry.. the best ever ....I just love Darlene.. What a great show.. And Phil Spector was a genuis...and a genuis for picking darlene and Ronnie Spector to sing his songs.. He's Not a Rebel Bette ..great...Written by the Great Gene Pitney.... thanks for this download...
This whole thing is worth watching, but try going directly to the 8:00 mark, and hear what she says at the opening of her formal speech. Yes, she had plenty to be angry over when she wasn't getting paid or recognized for much of her early work, but she's also gracious enough to recognize the fact that Phil Spector is responsible for all the recognition and everything we know her for. What a class act she is, and I thank Phil Spector for introducing this great voice to the world.
He’s A Rebel is forever etched in my mind. At seventy one years, it still makes me feel like a teenager again. Thank you Ms. Love for everything you brought to rock and roll by way of your unique voice.
I remember hearing the 'Christmas' song near to the start of the film, Gremlins. It took me a long time to find it was Darlene singing. What an amazing voice, just lifts your spirits. Amazing lady
This is great to acknowledge a talented singer like Darlene Love and to be inducted into the Hall of Rock and Roll is certainly a great honor for each singer. Congrats!
When I was a teeny bopper back in the 60s I use to attend tapings of the show "Shindig." Darlene was always there, doing back-ups for all the acts performing that night. She was the only one in the show who would come into the audience and say hi to the teens gathered. After a while, I became a regular and she would see me in the crowd and say, "Hi Marty! How ya doing?" I felt like a minor celebrity myself. She was just so sweet and giving. I am so glad she is finally getting the recognition she so rightly deserves.
It's about time she got inducted! I love that she thanked Bruce Springsteen in her speech and I loved that he was there playing guitar with her what an amazing way to show his support!!
I just saw Miss Love perform last night. I have seen many of the greatest rock and roll artists. This was one of the most enjoyable and amazing shows ever. What a voice. I just can't get over it. I am so happy that I got to experience it. WOW!!
I'm a child of the 50's and 60's and I can STILL sing every word!!!!! As my mother would say, you can remember all the words to every song, but you can remember your history dates!!! Who cares now. Music is what remains and always will!!!!! I start taping letterman just before Christmas so I won't miss that performance every year. I look forward to it for weeks.
It’s been said he wasn’t interested in creating stars; he was the star. Sure, he needed good singers, but he would pull the rug out from under them before they got too big.
That's called elegance and class!!! Even though he MISused her throughout those years... She's not bitter! And she LOOKS good for that. Anger ages one immensely! Others should take note! Congrats #DarleneLove ... One of the BEST! 🥂💞🤲🏾
Truly awesome. I grew up like many on with the voice of Darlene and having fun watching her and the Blossoms on Shindig show every Wednesday night. To watch her over the years still singing and not missing a beat even when times got hard for her, she prevailed. She so much deserve this award. Love you Darlene and may God continue to bless you and your family.
a totally amazing, inspirational woman, with a superb voice.. even stronger at 70... THANK YOU Darlene. I bought the 'Christmas Gift To You' LP the first day it came out,, played it 1000s of times... and STILL have that copy....
Darlene appeared at the Kate Wolf Memorial festival in June, 2014--and captured our hearts! What a woman. What a performer. What a life! Now, when I feel a bit down, I'll turn to Darlene Love and I'm uplifted! Thank you for your pipes, your spirit and your grace!
WOW! Not many people know Ms. Love was the lead vocalist for many artists, let alone, how many times she sang "back up", as the "lead" back up. So robbed of much, but just as Ms. Midler stated, never with a grudge. Not enough I was only 5, when I first heard this song, but I alway's expected to hear it every Christmas thereafter. And, whereas I hardly ever watched Letterman (no offense), every December, after her 1st performance on the show, I expected her appearance- and, I got it! And I followed every year since, until he retired. God Bless this incredible woman!!! And, her God given talent.
THIS IS ROCK AND ROLL HEAVEN! Darlene, Bette, Bruce, Will, Paul....what a night... glad to see such a turnout in support of Darlene, a true survivor, a pioneer, can't even begin to imagine what she went thru in her lifetime to be on that stage in 2011. Such class, what a talent. Thank you FUSE for the broadcast (I couldn't stop dancing when you were broadcasting the ceremony!) and sharing on You Tube.
This is an amazing peace of history. So thank you very much, Micheal, for putting it online. I'm very sure Darlene deserves all those very nice words what have been said about her. And she deserves her place at the R&R hall of fame. I'm only 45 y old but i know her already for a long time when i found her records in an oldies shop overhere. Way to go Darlene and we will Always enjoy your music.

I always marveled over the voices I heard in the background on a Luther song. What an amazing woman.
As bad as Phil Spector turned out, it was very gracious for Darlene Love to thank him for giving her such a big break.
I agree he created some stars
It’s been said he wasn’t interested in creating stars; he was the star. Sure, he needed good singers, but he would pull the rug out from under them before they got too big.
