So glad he said yes! I love Lucas but he couldn't have directed Empire. He was smart enough to know that. The story of creating the original trilogy and prequels is so amazing.

Lucas also directed THX-1138(1971) and American Graffiti(1973).

Lucas had to promise him final cut. The same promise he made to Steven Spielberg on Raiders of the Lost Ark.
