Hello everyone! Thank you for checking out the video. As of today, Samsung has removed this software from their website and integrated it into their Samsung Magician software. Instead of looking for the Data Migration link, just download and install the Magician software. Once installed, run the program and you will see a button on the left dedicated to data migration. From there, the process is the same.
Here is the link to the software:

I will update this video soon for Samsung Magician.
Thank you for supporting the channel!
Thank you, I was going nuts looking through all the sub categories and trying to figure out where the Software Migration 4.0 software was :) Looking forward to the next video!
Their Data Migration button only tells me ''Only the Source Drive on which the operating system is installed can be replicated.'' Makes no sense.
Thanks for clearing that up. I was confused until I read your comment. Thanks for the video.
In most cases, the data is copied but the cloned SSD does not boot. Lots of work and money wasted.
No nonsense, properly articulates what needs to be done and keeps everything clear. A good video, that more tech channels could certainly learn from.
Appreciate how helpful this was TechRated, huge thanks.
Awesome! Glad to help! 👊🏼 Thank you for the feedback.
This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you, Mr. Rated.
PERFECT! Your SSD Data Migration vid is ON THE MONEY! Granted I have some PC & Laptop experience, so for me following your instructions was easy! Thanks man!
Glad I could help!
Worked like a charm - nice and easy. Thank you very much for the help! 🙂
Awesome! Glad to help! 👊🏼
Many thanks! This made the whole process so simple - I really appreciate it!
It works! New subscriber here! Thanks!
Very informative… thank you!
Thank you very much for making this video, cleared up everything I couldn't figure out.
Thank you very much for the video, helped me and worked like a charm
precisely what i was looking for ty!
Thanks for the video, it really helped me out!
Easy and helpful, thanks!
Amazing video! Clear and efficient I just used it as an amateur to install my new SSD upgrade from my old HDD with ease thanks to your video 👍
Many Thanks for the clear and informative video. I am currently cloning my drive as I type. I am glad I 1) bought another Samsung SSD 2) they have easy to use software for the task and 3) I found your video..... EDIT after a short while the disk is now cloned and the PC working with the new SSD. :)
Very detailed. Thanks a lot
Thank you very much. It works!
Wow Dude!!!,, after doing this all wrong for 3 days Stright,,,i found this video,,,followed yoyr great instructions step by step,,,it worked!!,, now i will open my own store and make millions and millions of us dollars!!,,,thank you!!
Thank you! It worked!
Upgraded from 840 120GB to 870 EVO 1TB, whole process was quick and easy. Thanks for the help!
you got my sub, man. thank you, have a great day
Thank you! Figured it out!
Thank you this was quite helpful
I highly appreciate you make the process from the VERY BEGINNING Initiliazation of the drive, also answering the beginners questions like DOES it matter what Drive Letter i choose, unfortunately you do not answer the question DOES it matter what Type (MBR / GPT) of initialization. You just show the correct setting. For a lot of other youtubers the sellers provide allready initialized drives (i don't know where to order them i only find offers for blank drives) So again thank you for also covering the very beginning, with the questions a starter would struggle.
Thank you for the feedback! 👊🏼Glad I could help. 🙏🏼
Thank you for the video, it helped me in my quest to swap out the SSD on my new HP desktop. Your video helped calm my fears as I've never done anything this advanced on a PC. My HP came with a Samsung M.2 256GB SSD, and I upgraded it to a Samsung M.2 980 Pro SSD with heatsink. I used the SABRENT NVMe M.2 SSD to PCIe X16/X8/X4 Card to initially house the 1TB SSD, and had to initialize and format the SSD before cloning. The Samsung migration software was so easy to use, it only took about 5min to clone the SSD. Once my HP shut down, I swapped out the drives, turned on the HP and then formatted the 256GB SSD and it works perfectly. The only step I didn't know would work was swapping out the SSDs. I just went for it and it all worked perfectly. Thank you again!
Awesome! Glad to help! 👊🏼 Very nice upgrade 👍🏼
Great video, your style and manner gives a boost of confidence in getting this done properly!
Thank you! 🙏🏼 I appreciate your feedback. 👊🏼 Good luck with the cloning!
Thank you!! This is perfect!
Glad to help! 👊🏼 Thank you for the feedback! 🙏🏼
Thank you so much for this
Good video. I watched it once all the way through before starting the process and then paused at section marks to perform the task on a second watch.
Helped a lot!
Awesome! 👊🏼 Thank you for the feedback. Glad to help! 👍🏼
Thanks for this video, worked a treat. I have built PC's before but never cloned a drive and was a bit worried about doing it and stuffing my PC up and Mr Microsoft saying that there had been a system change and wanting his pound of flesh again.
Great video. Thank you
great video and easy to follow, upgraded to my new 1 TB 990pro ssd. No issues. I have a new 2024 Legion 7i with 9i and 64Gb RAM, took 7 minutes.
Crushed it. Huge thx
You’re welcome and thank you! I appreciate it. 👊🏼
great tutorial! thanks
Looks easy enough. Thanks. I'm getting Failed LBA when I run Short Smart Self-Test so I'll try to clone and replace the drive tonight or this weekend.
Thanks for the help. Everyone on YT were using Samsung Magician and that software was not reading my 990 evo as a samsung drive. I used Samsung Migration instead and the drive was showing up as a target drive.
This is why I have standardized on Samsung drives for my own computers or anyone else's that I work on. Their software makes the migration job SO much easier its worth the couple extra bucks they cost
VERY Useful video
Thank you very much.
Thanks!
Thank you so much for such easy directions I have downloaded the latest one but somehow I migrated the data. Thanks for sharing this
Excellent how to vid. Thanks! What software would you recomend for an ssd that is not samsung?
Worked prefect on my old Toshiba laptop with Windows 7.
Awesome! 👊🏼
Thanks for posting this video! Question: what about those partitions in the source drive you had labelled as Healthy (EFI Sys) and Healthy (Recovery Partition). Can you ignore them from migrating to the target drive? I guess, after reading the Limitations #4/#5 on the Data Migration manual, system reserved partitions will be created but not the OEM partitions.
Thanks the video was very helpful. The only thing I stumbled on was I couldn’t find the new drive in my bios so it took me awhile to figure out how to make it boot from the new one.
Im using all in one pc 240SSD and buy 1TB then decided to just install a new window instead of migrating data cause i got scared when i saw some issues to someones devices after they migrate it using other software but today my samsung SSD finally arrive then i saw a note guide & read bout data migrating and samsung magician soft. I found hope then rushly search it then found this channel deym thats so easy. im so glad i dont need to renew the windows again. Thank youu maanಥ‿ಥ
Thanks a lot 😊
Glad to help! 👊🏼
Hello, thanks ! This video answered to a couple of my questions. But still there is one doubt in my mind, what if I have an ESXI environment on a disk (250GB) that I'd like to clone\migrate to a new one (500G/1T)? Will the tool migrate everything 1:1 ? Thanks in advance.
Can the source drive be a non Samsung hard drive going to a new Samsung drive. Or do both need to be Samsung
8:04 Both the source and target are C: I only have one slot in my laptop so will their be any issues/conflicts having two drives labeled C when I install the newly migrated SSD, or say should I remove the new drive and replace with the old SSD for whatever reason? Say you connect the old SSD via a USB enclosure to use as backup storage. Will it be renamed, or still be labled C in my computer? Will this cause conflicts?
Lastly, does this software partition the new SSD exactly as the old one or something different, or can you make it do so/do the partitions as you like? Thanks for your nice video.
thanks for this helpful video 🥰 i have a question, should i have to sign out my microsoft account from my computer before swapping to a cloned ssd or not? i've recently got my samsung 990 pro 2tb arrived and i really want to upgrade C disk from my asus tuf gaming F15 too, i'm so excited to do so but nervous at the same time 😐
If the Target SSD drive is larger than the source drive, dose the migration deals automaticaly with the partitions or you have to do extra work after like some other programs? is it just one button and done for this program to samsung disks? And is it posible to use non samsung disk as source drive?
Thanks for the video helped alot!
If you change file system in refs on target drive, but you copy from ntfs. What file system be a boot drive, system windows 11. What happens with hide partition which os create.
Well, what if i was transferring data from SATA to M2 nvme one ? In boot option it wont let me boot windows from the new ssd. Please help !
The Samsung directions show using a USB to Sata adaptor to clone for a desktop too. My desktop HDD has two SATA to Mobo cables and two cables from HDD to power. The new SSD has only 1 of each. I want to be able to clone the clone. If I make the 1st clone the active primary drive, could I not clone it to other SSDs using the USB to Sata adaptor?
Good video
Great video thank you. So as I want to clone my C drive (windows installation drive) over to my new Samsung SSD, once installed, use the software to clone everything over, then I need to go and change my old C drive letter right? And change so it boots up to my new drive? Or will this happen automatically please? Just a little confused about this last part. Thank you again for this video 😊
Question: Programs installed on the old C drive. Example: MS Office, Adobe InDesign, Acrobat, will they run on the new drive after migration? OR do they need to be reinstalled and re registered as if new?
You didn't mention what to set the destination drive boot sector and what to set it at I noticed two options. Which one should you use ...does it make any difference which one you choose ???
Thanks
Is there any free migration software I can use if my source drive (an ssd drive) is not Samsung brand but the target drive is samsung m.2
Will an Apricorn ASW-USB3-25 USB 3.0 SATA Wire work with an EVO 870 1TB Drive?
If the source drive can be diff brand and and traget drive is samsung brand then it can be tranfered?
is it okay if the main SSD that im cloning is Different brand?
i am doing this tomorrow, Question; does the new drive boot up ok always or do you have to have problems with the bios ?
Thank you for informative video. I and transferring from an older Samsung SSD 850 EVO 1TB to a new Samsung V-NAND 990PRO PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 2TB. The old disk is in an old (around 8 years) self-build gaming desktop and is still running Win10 Pro as the hardware is not compatible for Win11. The old gaming rig is also getting flaky with PSU spikes regularly shutting it down. The 980TI graphics card is failing too. I have a new gaming desktop rig anyway so the old one is going to be broken down and salvaged. The new M.2 card will be going straight into a new gaming laptop that I got for a good price, but it only came with 512GB M2 storage, fairly inadequate for gaming in my view as I've found 1TB to be too small as a rule. My gaming desktop has 4TB which allows breathing space. My first smaller question is that the old rig does have an M.2 slot on the mainboard (ASUS Maximus VII Hero, manual says that the bus is PCIe 3.0) could there be a compatibility issue with that, and the new M.2 SSD given the age difference? I have heard that there are M.2 variations, could it cause any damage to the new M.2 SSD? Would it be better to use a USB adaptor? I guess I'll put it in and find out. The second question which would be useful if covered in the video is that I notice the Magician transfer process warns that open files on the source will not be transferred. Would it be better to boot the system in safe mode or lower level to reduce the potential of open files being skipped? I have also noticed in previous transfers that some MS 365 (Office) config files (such as .ost and archive) are not transferred in the process so it might be worth getting a copy of these manually before formatting the source disk. Also, I have heard that Win OS can have licence/activation issues if it encounters different hardware (CPU etc.) have you heard of this? Apologies for the long post!
Shit worked great 🙏🏽🙏🏽
I gave samsung ssd with windows 10 on it .If I reset windows 10 I know I will loose some stuff but does HP utility get deleted as well ?
Or is it best to migrate data to new disc?
If this works, you (and the guy on runescape who mentioned this) just saved me so much insanity on trying to find an easy way to do this.
Awesome! I hope it worked! 👊🏼
@@TechRated it worked, i love you
make sure to find Jesus man only way to get saved, and repent@@dntrell
Hey, how do I use this for 850 to 980 the nvme driver thing only supports upto 970 it says on samsungs site. Help.
I have a Samsung 1TB 860 EVO and plan on cloning it to a Samsung 2TB 870 EVO, will I have to extend the drive after the clone or will the software recognize the free space and mark it allocated?
Any issues cloning from the OS drive to a new one via usb and whike the pc is running?
I’m new to pc, I have a windows 10 desktop and I have 3 SSDs from Samsung, they’re all the same except for the storage capacity. My OS along with a lot of data is on my 2TB, I also have a 8TB that doesn’t have anything on it. I’m trying to move EVERYTHING off of my 2TB onto my 8TB does this process move EVERYTHING off the Original disk or only my OS?
Question, would the software still works if my source is not Samsung brand, but the destination is Samsung HD?
How to do it for recovery partitions and recovery os partitions (with c drive ) for dell laptops?
I need help I transferred everything but my monitor doesn’t come on after booting back up
i need help. When i do the data migration nothing shows up on my file storage thing like there is no ssd for me its just my old hard drive. what do i do?
Just got out of a 300gig sata 2 for a 500 870 evo. I had an idea going in but win7 booting in 5 seconds was jaw dropping.
Is it possible to do this via external hard drive rather than SSD adapter?
Thanks
No problem! 👊🏼
Hello what software can I use if I have different ssd I currently have kingston and planning to buy a samsung ssd
Question, I am using a desktop PC with m.2 drive and I want to go to a bigger drive. So when I migrate the data to a bigger m.2 drive, obviously I cannot give it a C drive as well because it will be connected externally for the migration. So if I plug in the new drive after I am done, will the computer freak out now that the NEW DRIVE"S DRIVE LETTER IS D or something else?
thanks for your video. I have a new Samsung 1TB SSD 870 EVO QVO SATA 2.5 Drive
How do I potion it?
Why do it say at 4:09 that the computer will shutdown in 20 seconds after migration? wouldn't that stop the migration? im going to be migrating this weekend and concerned about that warning
Need some help,
I followed all the steps and copied everything over to the SSD from my Hard drive (I was dumb and accidentally installed it there) and now my PC is completely freezing up after logging in to my main screen.
Any ideas why it’s doing this? Tried messing around in the bios and I still get the same thing, doesn’t matter which drive is in priority.
Appreciate the help! So this worked like charm and helped me out but my operating system is still running from my previous drive. how do fix that? BIOS boot order? can I format that drive then have the system automatically run from the SSD now that everything is on it? again thanks for the help!
Yes. You can either physically swap out the drives or change the boot order in BIOS. Once you see that the SSD is booting to your OS successfully, then you can format the older drive and use it for storage.
Nice to the point especially for dummies like me
Thank you so much for the video. It's so helpful. However, is it okay to just keep two drives?
Will this work from whatever drive is in your PC to the new samsung ssd
If the source drive is encrypted can it be cloned to another ssd if not how to decrypt the source drive
curious - how long did the migration take to complete?
Hi Brother thank you very very much for helping me do this I have a old Lenonvo 10 years old with a SSDHD drive I have a thousands programs on my computer I was scared if my hard drive ever went down I would be devestated. I can still use my drive that is in the Lenovo. PS: is there a way I can test the new SSD on my Lenovo to see if the new ssd and all my programs works without removing the old SSDHD drive? I just subscribed and Liked your page John R.
How to make partition in the new ssd?
God Bless. Fast and easy. buy any of those ssd on his list and walà......
Once the drive clinging has finished do you then need to erase and format the original drive or is that done as part of the cloning process. Will it still appear in my system as “C” drive or does it show as an unrecognised drive that needs initialising
Once the cloning had finished, first verify that the new SSD can boot to the desktop. If so, then you can format the old/original drive and use it for storage.
Hello i did that but it stopped at 99 and said it had a unknown error can u help
Hi can u help me to recommend a software for cloning for any brand of hdd which is a free software? Thank you
What is the relaxing music in the middle?
Do you think it will work if I clone my existing WD SSD to my new Samsung 870 EVO SSD?
does this work even if I have forgotten the SSD password? I have Samsung T7
