"A show only worth watching to see what goes horribly wrong."
Nothing but the truth!
I'll find out the next day anyway
Agreed!
Even then, it's just better watching the clips
Sticking Crash winning Best Picture in between the La La Land/Moonlight mixup and the slap was just a perfect editing choice
Cant believe is already been a year since Will Smith will-smithed Chris Rock
Honestly the most shocking thing about the Oscars this year is that I've actually seen a couple of the nominations.
Glad to hear you're diversifying the films you watch!
@@filmtoppings there's quite a few blockbusters here though. Most people have seen top gun and avatar. Everyones raving about EEAAO and Banshees. So there's likely quite a few people have seen.
@@glendarjj3991 Yeah, a good portion of this year's crop of nominees aren't exactly obscure choices, Women Talking and (possibly) Triangle of Sadness are the only ones that I think aren't particularly well-known or talked about
Same, usually I go watch them all after the nominations come out cuz I haven’t seen or heard of them. But I had seen over half of them this year
Sorry for your loss.
I still wish that Everything Everywhere All at Once got its own Honest trailer. It more than earned it!
It's the stupidest movie ever made and after watching the EWW review I wish I'd forget it all but it's impossible to forget all the blsht they trew in that crap
@@FriedSheep69 Go take a nap.
Well if you had a high enough iq to understand it then...
@@FriedSheep69 Thinking that EWW represents any sort of legitimate criticism is your first error.
@@Darkwell it does for me.
I love that the Elvis section was just about how Austin butler is still doing the voice
What about FASCISM?
They already did a full trailer around last summer
12 Angry Mennonites is a god-tier title
And a Partridge in a Pear Tree
I laughed hard at that one. I saw the movie the other day and noted to my wife it had a strong 12 Angry Men vibe to it.
I don't get it.
@@JohnGardnerAlhadis It's a reference to a classic - 12 Angry Men.
This joke legitimately made me laugh out loud!
I never watch the Oscars, but I faithfully tune in for the Honest Trailers version every year.
Ditto
Same. Its gotten so pretentious I cannot stand it unless being lampooned

@@cowel8734🤡
Whatever
"It's a little self-indulgent, but if anyone's earned it, it's director Steven Spielberg."
You're damn right.
What about FASCISM?
He also knows nobody really read anymore so..
Spielberg is still the best and I loved his newest film too. I would love to see him win the Oscar for best director but if The Daniels win I'm glad they got to win because their movie is just so crazy and great all at once.
'All quiet on the western front' is pretty spot on. I mean it's even in the title. In German the Book and the film is called: "Im Westen nichts neues", which a little more accurately means 'Nothing new on the western front' which is a statement in itself. It portrays that there were fights and million of deaths on the western front but nothing changed over the years of war.
So I think in that case the honest trailer is somehow spot on :D
This exhaustion of listing the things portrayed in a (anti)war movie is such a nice reflection of the exhaustion of war itself.
I was really upset that it didn't win more. Usually war films at least win for sound-- and its sound was leagues better than most. It's not a particularly faithful adaptation of the book, but it had the same violent anti-war spirit that I think is really necessary to see rn.
Yeah war movies are going the western movies route and are all becoming the same thing and boring. The last war movie I liked was Jojo rabbit because it was a unique take. All Quiet might have had been an amazing movie, but nobody wants to watch war movies anymore.
Thanks for actually acknowledging the amount of donkey death in this year's nominations. WTF did they do to the academy this year?
My guess it has something to do with Republicans and Democrats but I never remember which is the Donkey because I'm Canadian.
@@crystalward1444that's because they're all donkeys
@@crystalward1444The Democrats have the donkey.
I expected a clip of Gordon Ramsay said "YOU DONKEY!" On it.
There were two and only one of those was from a nominated movie. Any more examples?
Actually...possibly for the first time...I do care about the Oscars. Michelle Yeoh is damned underrated, and if ever there was a movie deserving of lavish praise, its Everything, Everywhere All At Once.
Agreed
Movies nominated in 2022 were bad. I did not get Everything Everywhere All at Once. Quan has given good speeches but Yeoh is very unlikeable. There were at least four movies nominated last year that are better than anything this year. Just hoping for a better year in 2023 for movies.
@@tonyg76 What didn’t you get, it was clearly about generational trauma, but was able to include other less serious element making it more enjoyable. I suggest you rewatch it, or if you didn’t like it, maybe it’s because you were blessed with a perfect home life and couldn’t relate to it in any way.
@@jammiedoughnut1126 Don't judge me or my life, you jerk. It was way too out there. I agree with the old farts in the academy that will not get it. Maybe the people who like it should be less defensive towards people that do not.
I haven’t seen that movie…yet. But I would love it if she won, because she deserves to and she’s a pretty rad lady.
Please do a full honest trailer for everything everywhere all at once =D
It would feel a little strange if they didn't do a full honest trailer for that but if they did make full Honest Trailers for Top Gun and Avatar.
@@laurenconrad1799 kinda makes sense. Im obviously a fan but even I think Top Gun and A2 are much bigger comedic targets than EEAAO.
That’s gonna take forever

Latest season of The Boys gave that joke a little oomph for me
I’m glad the Academy is finally giving some credit to a larger variety of film genres, from blockbusters to small indie projects. They’re all cinema, in one way or another 🎬
Why does anyone care at all about the Oscar’s? If you like a movie then who the hell cares what anyone else says?
It def. feels like a massive tug-of-war between pretentiousness and movies people actually enjoy.
@@LucasCarter2 it's more about recognition. Some people will be more likely to watch a movie if it wins many awards. That means that smaller indie projects get more recognition and love
I’m actually looking forward to this year’s ceremony. Especially to see wins for Naatu Naatu, Brendan Fraser, Sarah Polley, and what might be the coolest Best Picture winner since No Country for Old Men.
it's called desperation.
I look forward to these so much every year, even more than the Oscars itself 😭
Same
I was honestly surprised Top Gun: Maverick was nominated!
@Sketchy Getchey I find that a bit weird that it's a contender but even the praise and success I found it a bit odd.
Ever since they expanded the Best Picture category to ten nominees, they always include one or two blockbusters. They never win. They're never meant to. The Academy is just hoping it makes more people tune in, some slop thrown to the unwashed masses. If Top Gun actually wins (not impossible), something went horribly wrong with vote-splitting, and the Academy voters would be seething behind the scenes, probably trying again to push a "Best Popular Film" category to ghettoize like they did with Best Animated when Beauty and the Beast and Lion King threatened to actually win despite being the wrong kind of film. The Academy isn't meant to be representative of popular sentiments; them be very serious artists making most very serious art.
They like to prove they aren't out of touch by nominating something popular each year. Won't win though.
@@S3018146 Likely not.
I wasn’t surprised by the best picture nomination, but the best screenplay nom is utterly baffling.
This is actually a pretty good Best Picture lineup
We need a "Everything Everywhere All at Once" honest trailer!!
Why, is it bad? Because good movies don't make good honest trailers (Matrix is an exception).
@@Jurgen123445 And yet nobody talks (nor sometimes cares) about that movie (The Matrix) anymore nowadays.
@@jeuryrabassa4724 And your point is?

Yes, I actually chuckled at that.
What about FASCISM?
So this is how we finally get an everything everywhere honest trailer 😅
(Also I love watching these every year;)
I was wondering, will there be an actual Everything Everywhere All At Once trailer? Feels a bit unfair to give it a short end of the stick if you also did Top Gun and Avatar.
But now we need one in full! And they’ll have to jump across different universes, with different Epic Voices!
@@benabramowitz18 they already did that in the spiderverse trailer
They did mentioned it in the honest trailer for multiverse of madness
Def insanely overrated.
"An action movie that audiences actually liked so there's zero chances of it winning best picture"
SIGH... too true
I mean, it doesn't deserve the win. it's a good movie for what it is and a perfect sequel, but it's not particularly well written or acted.
@@crankfastle8138 I would disagree. It's well written, it's just not overly ambitious with what it is about
I absolutely love Top Gun Maverick, but in a certain way I wouldn't be happy if it wins, because he would switch from "one of the best action movies of the decade" to "one of the worst best picture winners of the decade" and it doesn't deserve it, it's so good
ahh well, whether you thought top gun mav was worthy to win or not, my comment was more of a general sentiment of how academy views action movies, superhero movies, etc. (basically anything popular with the wider general audiences). Kinda like how on rotten tomatoes, the audience score are more important for me than critics scores.
@yongBane part of the problem is the few times these movies do get acknowledged like top gun, is that its a bit outclassed this year, or black panther which really didn't deserve it and got its nomination for other obvious reasons which undermine the movies real quality.
We need an honest trailer for Everything Everywhere All At Once
Yes! I'm actually kind of disappointed they haven't done an Honest Trailer for that movie yet.
@@jbvader721 They said they don't want to lampoon it cos it's a good movie, so they just bring it up in other honest trailers to attack other movies with (like their favorite target, Multiverse of Madness). Even here they just mentioned it cos they had to and even in that little bit they only had nice things to say about it.
I actually think this is a really solid line up of films

That would be the coolest BP winner since No Country For Old Men.
EEAO was ABSOLUTELY the best film to come out of 2022 (fight me, Avatar fans) and that’s EXACTLY why it won’t win Best Picture
Congrats, Fabelmans
@@mc-rn8ro Avatar was not that great.

15 years time. A lot of money. But they spend like 15 minutes abnd 2 beers worth on the story and characters.
However I do think it will win because it's Oscars.
"Māori" isn't pronounced "May-ori" (e.g., your pronunciation in the Avatar - Way of Water segment) -- it is more like "Mau-ree" (or at least that is reasonably close enough for a non-Kiwi). The actual Te Reo pronunciation involves a slightly less common vowel combination sound.
Daniel Deadwyler and Paul Dano should’ve gotten Oscar nominations this year.
Big facts
I don't think so
@@MrDarcyProductions Nope. For The Fablemans. Like Judd over Paul? Come on

exactly, there is no hero trope, nothing. only desperation and death.
Definitely should've included Margot Robbie's puking from Babylon (I understand why you didn't include the one from The Whale).
Big year for pukes.
How about this. They get rid of puke entirely. People want to see a great movie and puke completely ruins the film. They should never have it again in future movies. My opinion.
@@capedcrusaderreviews1192 A Jackass vehicle without puke would be like a night sky without stars. I wouldn't wanna live in that world.
This bit is concerningly easy on/indulgent towards Top Gun: Maverick. It's less a good movie and more a bit of old-school nostalgia that gained an ironic appreciation in spite of itself.
I’m still mad that The Menu was snubbed from any Oscar categories
Everything Everywhere All At Once is how I describe the responsibilities I juggle working from home, doing most of the house chores, taking care of the dog, and taking care of my infant son.

Anyone who complains about not knowing the nominated movies should question whether it might be their own fault. If you watch anything outside the realm of mainstream blockbusters you can’t help but stumble upon the films on this list, cuz they are in fact well known and talked about a lot.
I ain't never heard of Triangle Of Madness or the Colin Farrell movie till now

Honestly the story behind Women Talking is just so insane that it’s hard to believe. Like…it’s just so messed up!
Austin Butler spent six months straight practicing that voice and speaking it everyday before they even began filming. Then catching that voice for reshoots if they needed. So it's got to be pretty hard for it to go away and since it sounds cool why the f*** would he stop just cuz some dorky theater nerds want him to?
You did "All quiet on the western front" dirty

I don't get why people won't stop asking for an EEAaO Honest Trailer. One reason that movie is so goddamned great is because it's wearing an HT-proof vest.
But Spielberg making Spielberg about Spielberg (which fulfills my Oscarbait pre-req of "first learned it existed by hearing the nomination")? THAT'S a target just begging for an Honest-ing.

For one of the first times, at least from memory, I watched about ten of the nominated films before the Oscars were on. My favorite is Banshees, followed by Pinocchio. The one film that I wanted to see I didn't since I rarely go to theaters anymore and that's Avatar. Waiting for 4k Blu-ray. Honestly, though, I didn't love most of the films; I was indifferent to about 50 percent of them, maybe more. I almost turned it off from boredom on a few of them. Watching it now, it shows that there were many more that I could have seen (but really, I'm not that interested).
I'm so curious if the Elvis accent is STILL there after the Golden Globes.
