    Okay I'll come out and say it straight.
    There are biological differences between males and females that statistically make them take different interests and make them more or less capable in some areas. I'll go ahead and emphasize that I said "statistically". This means that these differences between genders is not a blanket statement.
    How hard is this to understand?!

      I took AP psych in high school. There is a psychological difference in men and women. You can read up on it on the APA, but I highly doubt you even know what the APA is. Also, you're subscribed to Alex Jones. In the same way that the "doctor" from "MIT" on Alex Jones shows, you're trying to equivocate yourself as a "person who studied psychology" to an actual certified psychologist.

If we all agree that some amount of bias is at play I don't see anything wrong with Google saying we're going to make sure we hire a certain number of women to make up for the bias that may otherwise keep them out.

      @nahtenielk2602 7 лет назад +6

      Erline Andrews he made the case that bias isn't the only reason women aren't in tech. The memo was intended to spurn a discussion with others and leadership on how to reevaluate the perceptions of hiring and gender. I'm not sure his intention was meant to give solutions. Just said stop calling everything discrimination for sake of discrimination and stop hiring diversity for mere sake of diversity.

    This is furthering my resolve in moving off of google. It’s hard to do because their product overall is the best and they are into everything. The way we all can stop this is to move off of their products. The free market always responds to consumers and their are entrepreneurs out there who are eager to meet the need. The problem they have is getting their services up to speed fast enough. Start ups, experiment and there are cliches and hiccups they go through. We as consumers struggle having the patience or “stick to it” mentality to allow new formats to fully develop.
    The next company that needs to sink is this one right here, RUclips. If anyone hasn’t actively searched out other alternatives to RUclips I encourage you to. Yes, they are more primitive, yes they are limited, but so was RUclips at one time. But there are entrepreneurial people out there who believe in total freedom of speech, expression and content. They just need consumers to be patient as their content and services develop. Without followers, they will not be able to afford the costs, resources and time to do so. Believe me when people with capital see action on these alternative sites, they will jump in and invest the capital

    Do we believe Grace Hopper, the Navy Rear Admiral programming pioneer, was an outlier? Well I don't think she was representative of the broader population, or the female half of it.

    How come CNN has prepared a whole list of women in IT and argument that after 1984 (curious year, isn't it), less women were working in IT... it's like they are trying to imply that after 1984, the society started ramp up on the sexism and bigotry front. Men somehow infiltrated this beautiful female science and pushed away all the vulnerable (but extremely intelligent and way better) wymyn.
    If they prepared this point, they surely had to have some interpretation of their reasoning. Why don't they state that reasoning? Why are they just implying it? And more importantly, why is their explanation true without any discussion and other explanations are false? Why are even attempts at other theories the proof of bigotry?
    You know what would be nice to say? It would be beautiful if we could say that women and better than men, that women are more intelligent than men, that women are what holds the society together and men are just freeloaders, that only women work and men don't... why would you even dare to suggest otherwise? How could you? You sexist pig!

    'Do you believe those women were outliers?' No shit, you're literally mentioning them as some of the most important people in computing. If they were male they'd be outliers.

    in 1984 the number of women studying CS was 37% (not very high to begin with) and now its dropped to 17%. There has been a huge boost in other professions e.g. law/medicine where women dominate. The cause for the historical decline is not easy to answer on the fly

    1:48. Today, August 15th, 2017, marks the first time I have ever truly questioned whether we landed on the moon. Hearing in this video about all these different women who allegedly helped us with our Apollo missions has awoken me to the possibilities that maybe we didn't land on that big hunk of cheese.

    • @tarico4436

      I just finished watching the entire video. Talk about making him look stupid and nosy. Just go read his memo. He writes much more coherently than how CNN edits him into looking unsure of himself. Also, how they light up his trunk makes it look even bigger than an elephant's trunk.

      Surely the nonsense media coverage of the Damore case suggests that: maybe the media coverage of the moon landing was ALSO nonsense! I mean maybe not, but for me the Damore event was the death of trust in mainstream media. It was just such blatant bullshit when the facts were plainly present for anyone to see. If the media lied about Damore, why not lie about the moon landing? (Not saying moon landing was faked, but media coverage is not good evidence for the truth, it turns out). What other events could the media be lying about?

    Where in heaven's name does Segall get her information? John Glenn never had help making his "accurate... trajectory to the moon" because Glenn was never involved in a moon mission. What's wrong with her? That part of this interview was clearly a piece she had prepared in advance, yet should couldn't even offer accurate information despite having the opportunity to prepare it. That's just embarrassing for both her and CNN.
