If any relative buys a device for you from abroad, he just has to open it and carry it as his/her device, there are no issues unless someone wants a very expensive unboxing. 😂
I'm from the Philippines, but wonder if this applies to India as well. I bought an Australian Pixel 5 last year and was not able to get 5G signal on the phone, and no VoLTE either because it was not whitelisted on my carrier's network. I would have had to root and perform some config just to get those features. The problem is over here a lot of the online sellers list imported phones as "5G" even though the phones will only be able to get a 5G signal in the countries they're sold in. Just thought it may be helpful to share.

Amazon US was quite good actually. I ordered a hard copy of my Kindle book and they handled the custom duty etc. quite well, and I even got a refund on some of the duty amount after 1 month or delivery. The custom duty stuff is quite tricky and unpredictable though and go for it only when critical.
You forget one thing; if some reletive is getting phone for you. If he bring in hand open then you don't have to pay custom !!! A person can carry 2 phone in hands as his personal no custom duty is applicable in that case 😃
Does this same thing applies for Laptop💻 too ? Can we Cut the seal open off the Laptop Box even if the laptop costs more than 50000 could that be exempted ???
If pixel costs 52000, you don't have to pay 35% of 52k. instead it mentions it will be levied on whatever value is in excess of duty free allowance, that means 38% of 2k. Clear from the screenshot posted on 2:28
Nice and informative Video 👍 I was once trying to order Pebble Watch long back and the website simply calculates shipping with price and not Duty. And after my calculation the duty above price was pointless. Even while travelling from India, usually I carry receipts of all products bought in India, incase it's needed during arrival. Infact while departure they let you fill a form to declare if you carrying anything and that form is very useful during arrival. No one really bothers about these things. Once I was getting Asus Eee Pc which costed Rs 16,000 when converted so I didn't bother much but duty took my bag aside and asked me to open. I was surprised the Duty officer was curious what Eee Pc was and asked me all about the PC and wrote down the name etc and let me go 😁 Sorry for long post.

Regarding the custom duties on the pixel, the tax is levied on amounts exceeding custom allowance. So it would only be applicable on the ₹3000 exceeding the ₹50,000 allowance.

The GST on import of goods is charged under customs act 1962 and not GST Act 2017. There are 3 ways the product can be imported: 1. Through baggage i.e. just as luggage and the limit of 50,000 mentioned by ranjit is applicable. The tax applicable including GST is 38.50%. The person coming from abroad has to go through the red channel on airport. 2. By post i.e. through websites abroad. The websites take care of everything. 3. Through some trader in abroad. The procedure gets a little complicated. The rates vary here. However, most people will be using 1st and 2nd way. The 3rd way is generally for businesses. Thing is samsung products are almost priced the same worldwide, so international warranty not required. Like for 5-10k I won't import a product from the US. But iPhone's are in a different league. 30-40k price difference is huge among 2 markets.
what a beautifully crafter video....you are raising relevant questions which most ppl hesitate in covering...thanks ranjeet...you have cemented ur place as one of the honest and best youtubers in the indian sub continent.
Hey Ranjit, can we carry the boxes of the devices we are carrying in our luggage or in the cabin bag?
Yes you can, the phone/device seal should be broken. Not seal packed.
