The Archon ruled in this comparison. I’m so impressed with the mid-range on the amp. It sounds angry, aggressive, meaty and full at the same time. It’s not overly scooped or fizzy.
The PRS wasn't even on my radar until I wanted to try out a guitar in a local shop and the MT was the only high gain amp he had and I liked it. Gotta get that guitar first though.

They all sound great in their own way, I’d be happy using any of these. With that said for playing I really like the feeling of Mesa and Orange stuff with those big low ends.
I think my favorites are the PRS Archon, 5150 EL34, and the Rockerverb mkiii I’d use the 5150 EL34 as the main amp, and then either the archon or Rockerverb with it blended I do really like the fizzy/texture the Rockerverb gets, nothing else quite has that gain structure. When I use amps now (normally a helix user now for live) I use an OR50 Orange and a 6 knob JCM800. The Marshall handles all the high mids and the orange does all the beef and fills out the little bit of low mid the JCM lacks
Thanks for the video!! Love them. Would gig all except the Blackstar. Laney was my favorite by quite stretch. Funny since I've never had a chance at one. I've gigged dual rec, rockerverb, and the 5150. Now I got the GAS again. Thanks buddy. lol.
The ironheart won my heart. It has a pretty top end, it doesn't crap out with palm mutes, and chugs have just the perfect metallic midrange. Chords just sound a little too broken maybe, weirdly.
Hi, John! I really love your channel, I am a big fan of yours) And I need your advice. I always wanted a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier, but I am afraid it would be too loud for a small apartment. But recently I have heard about a reactive loadbox two notes torpedo captor. I was thinking about plugging an amp to this loadbox before a speakers, but I am afraid this loadbox is too expensive (I have money only for a second hand Dual Rectifier and a second hand Mesa Boogie 4×12 cabinet) Should I buy instead Line 6 Helix Floor? Or do you know any other loadboxes that are cheaper? And do the loadboxes change the sound of the amp so that it gets really unnatural? I just wanna get Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier tone without blowing my apartment😅
@@SonicDriveStudio I was thinking about buying Mini Rectifier but someone told me that it sounds not as great as Dual Rectifier. But I still don't know, which one should I choose. Line 6 Helix Floor or Mini Rectifier?
@richardsayfer3979 The Mesa Dual Rec I used to have and it’s a beast. The newer ones you can change the wattage output for an apartment setting. Never played a mini but it has a smaller transformer and el84 tubes, not gonna have the low end like the Dual. Hope this helps.

If I could only pick one, it would be the Archon. But paired with the 5150 (mind you both together still cost less than some of the others individually) and you're unstoppable.
5150 is good to me here. But, I am sooooo glad I traded a guitar I didn’t use for a mint condition Archon MKII. The guy I traded was trying to use it through a peavy vypyr combo. Glad he didn’t blow it up lol. Best trade ever.

@@SonicDriveStudio I need every shape now to fill the rack 🤦♂️🤯
Orange all day evh second
Speaking of mid-wattage heads, could you please demo old ENGLs such as Screamer, Thunder, Metalmaster and Rockmaster?
Awesome content as always Brother. Your comparison videos are amazing. I am planning to buy an evh but not able to decide inbetween evh LBX 1 and evh Iconic. Which is better option according to you. Your opinion matters a lot.
I haven't tried the Iconic so I can't comment on that
Mesa wow!
Orange and Marshall
Man that Archon sounds noooiice
Thicccc
Great video! I've got the Laney so it's probably for the best that it's one of my favourites here 😂
Have you considered a video series on blending amps? Trying them to see how they sound together?
I've done one or two videos on that
Blackstar the best
My dude, where is the Victory Kraken? Also, don't forget about Splawn. Scott is building the little 50w Nitro Mini now and that thing will absolutely destroy a 50w DSL (assuming things go the same way my 100w Nitro just murdered a Fortin modded 100w DSL years ago)
Would you do a vid on the new irf leadtop and dueltop by Laney
haha they all sound so damn similar :D just different low pass in the eqing of the amps, maybe kinda different mid-center-frequency here and there.
I recommend listening on good speakers or headphones. They don't sound the same at all over here
Hey! How happy are you with the pickups of this one? I have the C1 (same pickups) and I'm not very sure of those pickups, too ice picky and lacks a bit of bottom somehow. What do you think?
Love them so much!
I really start to like the Ironheart, although I never played one.😅 It is a polished grunt, as it seems to me. I like that. Recto is always cool. I like these amps. And my heart will always fall for a DSL50, although I don't like the deep switch engaged. I think it is too much. I'm sorry, but I didn't like the Invaders amp. It didn't sound balanced and had some weird intermodulation, in my ears.
