This was sick AF!!!! Deathcore has been a huge part of my life for a long time now. You nailed all the motifs of the genre with the hammer offs, bends and the tone. Only thing missing was some of the sweeps most do. For whatever reason I never picked up a guitar myself but I'm about to buy a cheap 7 string and finally play some chugs for fun! DUNN check out this 80s riff technique that works for deathcore, look up the video called "Shred Guitar In The 80s: Warren DeMartini, George Lynch and My Kramer Guitar Super Strat Collection" and at 3:03 in the video is a riff that Warren DeMartini does for Ratt but it sounds exactly like what you'd hear in early 2000s-2010s deathcore.
Thanks for the awesome comment and information. I literally winged this video after listening to early Parkway and Killswitch and remembered it being called Deathcore. Next time I do a video I’ll try throw in some sweeps which is my biggest weakness but thank you again for the information, I’ll check it out.
Great video. I purchased a 7 string back in 2015 with the intent of expanding my horizons while still playing 6 strings. I have a plethora of instructional material for 6 string, but good quality 7 string instructional material is hard to come by, so my progress has been lagging. Stuff like this really fits the bill. I became a subscriber to your channel a few months ago and if you continue to post these types of 7 string videos in the future, I can definitely see myself becoming a Patreon subscriber. Would definitely be money well spent. Thanks again for your hard work.
Thank you for your thoughtful detailed comment it helps me understand what people are looking for on RUclips and what they find value in which helps me make the channel better.
Sounds great Brother on my loomis 7, but F it, ill have a crack at this on the 9 string, leaves a lot of space for harmonies too great exercise for me Brother thank you eh.
That was sick. Man I want that guitar, it might have even been searching for videos of it when I found your channel a while back. I love the green on black, Jackson had a green glow dinky that I really liked as well, but that was a 6 string and not sure it's made anymore. Charvel bought out the copy-cat of it, but like a lot of charvels, it had the natural colour maple headstock and don't like it as much. I ended up with a Jackson in stealth black with yellow pickups and a single yellow sharkfin inlay on the 12th fret. The JV70P would look pretty sick next to it and pretty "aussie" colour combo. I don't have a 7 string yet, but would like to get one. Got some good ideas to play on my 6 string even if they don't sound quite as mean as the lower tuning, it's still fun to play 🤘🤘 Question re the settings on the Soldano plugin - do you change them up much when you switch between 6 and 7 string?
Schetcher makes some amazing 7 strings that, in my opinion, are high quality and worth their cost. A lot of brands make you pay for their logo. But Schecter, imho, doesn't do that. I have 2 Schecter 7 strings.
@@SamBrockmann nice, I do like the look of a few of theirs such as the Sunset 7 Extreme. The signature models seem overpriced though. I've got a Schecter Riot 4 bass that I love. Looks sick and has a really smooth neck and easy to play.
@@iduncanw, I can guess which model. Those are excellent. The one I have that I love is the PT-7. If you cannot afford that, get the Hellraiser-7 or (if even more cash-strapped) the Demon-7.
Wanted to ask your advice. Im buying a really nice "lifetime" 6 string but 7 string modern deathcore stuff is probably the long term goal. Do you think an expensive 6 string makes sense? Currently pretty new so i feel like buying a 7 now would have me leaning on the open string djent stuff when i need to be learning so many other important techniques.
You didn't ask me, but I'll offer you my experience: I started on an Ibanez RG 7 string that I put in drop-A. I formed many lazy habits and the added complexity added a barrier to learning. I tried to make it work for over a year with poor results. Then I bought an LTD Black Metal 6 string with stainless frets (a lifetime guitar) and put it in D-standard. I could no longer abuse bar chords and started to learn to walk up and down the fretboard. I could no longer abuse lower tuning to sound heavy so I improved my technique and learned different chord progressions. Plus, now I can pick up any standard tuned 6 string and play something cool instead of looking like a failure.
look at him go farken sevencchula, frog green and black needs reverse headstock for maxium meterlergy .. man commin down hard like golf ball hail this EXACTLY what i wanna see.... sick fish
@@DUNN.. I reckon a reverse headstock makes better metal by anywhere between 10-15% , I don't know much about guitar science but as a guess I would say something to do with elves for sure.. same ones that make Dave mustaines hair getting redder by the tour .. elves

Stuff like this is why I enjoy a 7 string.

Nice Ingested t shirt my fav band
🤘🏻🔥🤘🏻
Idk why RUclips recommended me this but I'm glad they did
Glad you checked it out, thank you for leaving a comment
Just bought a 7 string and I think this is the first thing I'm going to learn. Thank you!
Awesome brother, welcome to the family
That guitar is insane looking holy shi
That green dot is so nice
Such a classic design, I’d love a universe passion and warfare swirl
Idk why but the first riff really reminds me a lot of early Parkway Drive.
I was actually thinking of Parkway riffs when I made this video
Hi Dunn , That's a power of 7 string , sound low with taste of 6th , I love 7th strings guitar . Thanks 🤘🤘🤘
Definitely the best of both worlds, you can bring your 6 string knowledge and be down tuned anytime you want
Thank you Dunn 👌
Thank you for checking out the video 🤘🏻
subbed, just got a 7 string and looking for death metal type stuff. How perfect is this!
Thank you for the sub and congratulations on the guitar 🎸
Wicked! TY, glad to find you.
Great, now I need a 7 string! Nice work.
@MartysMatzoBalls not true. 6 string guitars are just as popular as ever
So tight! Will give it a shot on the 6 string. 👍
Hammerons giving bmth pray for plagues vibe
Such a classic debut album , one of my favourite albums then they completely switched it up
@@DUNN.. that they did haha, the rest is history
Great set of riffs man!! Played it in a G Standard tuning and really gets that Cannibal Corpse vibe going!
Good idea
like the scourge of iron vibe
This was sick!
This is why you’re my favourite guitarist on RUclips, always coming through with amazing riffs
Thank you, appreciate your support
Dam 2 videos in one day 🤘

Great riffing! do you have your music on Spotify, Apple Music, etc?
Should have some music released soon in the next month or so 🤘🏻

@iduncanw , signature models are overpriced on /every/ brand. Don't buy signature models. Lol
@@SamBrockmann true, I just happen to see a Keith Merrow one I really liked, but can't justify the price.

Can I ask how hard do you pick? I find I’m good for a few gallops then I dig in or something and I slow down.
Not very hard at all , I'm very loose and relaxed .I try to use the least amount of force possible but enough to conserve energy .
Nice

bruv u mean A standard right? bruv really said Bb
Bruv it’s Bb , I know what my guitar is tuned to. You could also call it A# bruv 😂😂
