    Great content you're putting out. Originally, I had the FX6 / a7siii combo, but found myself using the FX6 for everything. Where I think the FX6 has a huge advantage over the a7siii is the ability to use Waveform scopes and I can really know for sure that exposure set within a parameter where the highlights won't be clipped. Zebras alone aren't always enough, and I actually sold my a7siii and bought a second FX6. If gimbal work is ever needed, I'll just rent an a7siii, or, will use my spare a7iii, in a pinch.

    Looking at getting this exact combo.
    We picked up an A7s3 and love it. I had 3 gh5’s and have decided I might as well sell that kit for an fx6. I rarely need the 3rd camera anyways.

    Could you please tell me the stand used for booking your shotgun mic at 1:13? As a canon shooter, switching to Sony is pretty enticing. Thank you. Great video.

      I believe I purchased it from a local retailer in Melbourne. It's a Tenba Cinelux 21 Hightop. I've since upgraded to the Tenba Cinelux 24 which gives me a bit more room for a rigged out camera. Very happy with the upgrade. Thanks for watching!

    Great video, thank you very much. We have an a7siii and just added the FX6 and can't wait to get out and use them together. What settings would use on both cameras shooting documentary style to get a complementary look for easy editing. I really like using S-Cinetone.

      I shoot with SLog3 and then colour correct with CineMatch in Premiere Pro. Try and use similar lenses (Sony GM series is what I use) and that will help with a consistent look.

    Great content as usual ! Keep it up ! Quick question I’m stuck between the fx9 or fx6. Is the image quality a big difference to where you need that extra resolution ? I currently have a bmpcc 6k and I was wondering how big of a difference is it. I appreciate your response and time. Thanks

    • @scottjohnson3017
      @scottjohnson3017 3 года назад +3

      You do get an edge with the FX9, but it comes with a price. The sensor in the FX9 is a 6k sensor which produces a rich oversampled 4k image, but, you also have to have $2,000 external unit to output prores RAW over SDI to an Atomos Shogun 7, which is another $1,500 dollars. Unless you're going to be doing work that requires multiple onboard SDI out, the FX6 it totally fine with the 4k image that it produces, and the ability to do ProRes RAW to a Ninja V over HDMI is very nice as well. You could always rent before you buy to make the determination for yourself as well.

      @@scottjohnson3017 yes very true , it is an extra couple thousand to get everything to work how you want it. I love the bmpcc 6k image but it’s just a headache to work with a lot for run and gun shooting. A crisp 4K image with good dynamic range is what I’m aiming for and the fx6 seems like the perfect match but I’ll definitely rent first as you suggested.

      @@YourStoryStudios But For cinema work super35 is very popular because it is mimicking the size of piece of super35mm film. Most of the Cinema line of lenses, serve the Super -35 size. lot of Cinema lenses are sold or able to rent in Super-35 which is the gold standard for cinema. For me the Full frame options, but in photography hybrids and the FX-6 are still geared towards consumers because you will be using photography lenses with the camera.

    Are the skin tones, dynamic range and overall picture quality noticeably any better on the Fx6 compared to a7s3?

      Overall I like the image of the FX6 more. No scientific tests to back it up… just my final impressions!

    • @Fedorevsky
      @Fedorevsky 2 года назад +1

      One of the reasons the FX6 looks better is the lack of the forced noise reduction found in the A7SIII and FX3. A larger body will always have an upper hand here as the smaller bodies naturally have more noise from the sensor and other parts getting hotter. This makes a big difference in overall image quality as there's sometimes digital sharpening also added to make up for the noise reduction making for a slightly more digital looking image. This gets progressively worse as you up the ISO. The difference of the image quality between FX6 and FX3/A7III's second base ISO is huge.

      @@YourStoryStudios Thank you that was the last puzzle that I needed to be answered by an actual owner. I just missed my chance at getting one yesterday from B&H.
      I got up, looked online, saw it, fixed my breakfast, drank my coffee, pulled out my credit card, and went to order it and it was gone. I lost it by 15 mins.

    Great vid, I'd add that in hot climates A7SIII isn't as reliable as FX3 and FX6 as it has no fan and can easily overheat.
    What's the mattebox you're using at around 1:15? I'm looking to get something like that with a 77mm thread...

      Thanks for watching! I haven't tested the a7S III out in high temperatures yet but so far haven't had to worry about any over heating issues. Melbourne is now in winter, so won't need to worry about that for a few more months!
      At 1:15 that's the Parrot Teleprompter. I just didn't have the phone in it at the time! www.rubbermonkey.com.au/Padcaster-Parrot-Teleprompter-V2-Kit?gclid=CjwKCAjwiLGGBhAqEiwAgq3q_q65ONHzN_ymtUB-phGAlEifbtzgGvIOsq2fQjtlLUFk17Y64AOE3hoCA4IQAvD_BwE

      @@andrewvu3083 There's a lot of misinformation out there about the FX3 and A7SIII. People assume that because the FX3 has a fan and the A7SIII doesn't, that the A7SIII overheats. The A7SIII is a champ, doesn't overheat in the worst conditions.
