Got the same rattle and also freaked out for a second. Going to power up and see how she shoots. Thanks for the video. Makes me feel ever so slightly better about the rattle.

So i just received my refurbished r6 mk ii and immediately noticed this noise and got worried. Came across this video and feel much better now. Thank you for posting this

I pre-ordered from B&H. It shipped on the 28th and I got it today. I haven't opened it yet but I'm so glad I saw this about the sound. I would have definitely thought that there was a defect in my individual camera!

I just received my new eos r6 mark II.
I opened the box and heard the same worrying noise you did!!
I went on RUclips, I looked for an unboxing and I was comforted by the noise of the IBIS that you heard too!!
Evidently it is a characteristic of this Canon.
Of course, however, as soon as you open the box, there is a lot of concern!!
Considering the price, it looks like a toy!!
Luckily when you turn on the noise disappears....

I got mine yesterday... I did a lil test and the tracking was so sticky, stickier than the R6. Glad I listened to what you said. I also check the sounds between the R6 and R6 II and the sounds are different. Just like what you have.

Preordered mine through my local camera store and got mine yesterday as well. Feels great in my hands…made the switch from the Z6 II. Can’t wait to start shooting with it! 😁

I just got my R6ii and as soon as I unboxed it I about freaked out! I got so worried that I thought I got a bad one! So glad your on here and pointed this out! I feel better knowing that this seems normal with all R6ii's. If you ever find out if this is normal please let me know. Keep up the good work.
I'm pretty sure it's normal. You are in good company. I've been shooting with it since launch and it still rocks. Enjoy the camera!
I got mine EOS R6 MK II a week ago, first time having IBIS too, and makes the exactly same rattling noise. I was worried about it until your video. Thank you for it👏👏👏
So glad I found this video - thank you! Just got mine today and noticed the sound and FREAKED OUT! But it seems like it's a normal feature. Just have to remind myself *not* to shake it (because for some reason I feel compelled to now).

It's normal. Weird noise, but normal. I have had no problems with it. You will love the camera.

I got one R6 mk2 and i noticed ,i heard it makes that sound from the inside body stabilizer
I just got mine today and I feel like returning it back. But I know that if I return it for another one I'll get the same issue. How could Canon let this happen? It's not like were spending money on tech that is suppose to rattle when you buy it! This is $2300.00 were talking about!
Freaked me out when I heard it on my R6 few months ago. Maybe the louder the noise, the better the IBIS. Looking forward to your video tests! 😂

same here ! thanks for sharing. This sounds doesn't sound like a canon quality body. compare to 7DII/5DIII i feel quality of R bodies is lacking.

Just had mine delivered - same sound. I only have my 5DM4 to compare it to but I don’t like that rattle. 😮
I don't either but I can get over it after I see what it does.
New subscriber here on the edge of ordering the R6 Mark ii (currently have the M50 and will keep it as it’s terrific)
My intention is to use it for video, mostly using vintage lenses.
Hope you can cover a bit on creating videos with this camera and if you want to add a bit on vintage lenses too that would be great.
I have more video's in the works with the R6 II coming. That being said...not with vintage lenses, but that would be an awesome study to work on. I'll have to look into that. Thank you for Subscribing!
My R6 II (that I ordered in July) is coming in the next month and I’m also gonna use vintage lenses on it so I’d also be interested in a video on it
My R6 mark ii did the same thing, with the IBIS. I haven't gotten to shoot with it yet though. I will in a few hours
Mine makes the same loud sound. I just got the R6ii last week and it’s my first camera with ibis. It also concerns me too. It makes it sound and feel cheap compared to my older EOS-R which is completely solid 😂
After a year of using it don't worry about that. It works flawlessly!

Camera to your ear? It's louder than the R6. I want to work on film sets where there can't be any noise. Thank you. The noise is in addition to any focus noises or stabilizer noise on ef and some rf glass (non l).
I noticed and made a comment in one of my vids about that noise. It almost sounds like a tiny fan or possibly a heat sync to allow for the unlimited recording. That is my guess, but I do not know for sure. I shoot with a shotgun mic or wireless lav so it hasn’t bothered me.
Just got mine, unboxed and proceeded to shake it. Yes it seems they all have that same sound. Sounds just like yours in the video
I'm glad to know I don't have a defect.
It's the stabilizer. I wouldn't keep shaking it if I were you
@@nismo09nz oh I know. The concern was its a lot more clingy than the ibis in the r6 or r7.
That sound bothered me too. I just got mine today and mine sounded exactly the same. It does feel cheap. I’m glad I’m not the only one. How was that worked out for you? Thoughts?

OK....you just got me shaking my new gear...It has the same sound. Only when switched off though. Must be the IBIS...
Yes...more noisy than r6 but I'm not worried.
I had a down payment on one and picked it up on Tuesday at the Camera Company in Madison, WI. I was the second person to pick one up that day. I think they said they had received 5 or 6 of them. Working on getting it all set up for my use now and it is my first mirrorless body after years of DSLR's.

Same here but looks like Fedex misrouted the package so probably won't arrive today. It's now in a neighboring state and in a much farther location from me than the original Fedex facility. :(

Both my Canon R7 and Fuji X-T5 have an IBIS rattle when the camera is turned off.

Try charging your battery first. That is odd.
I noticed the same noise in mine. (arrived at my door step 10am UK time)
my aperture wheel feels super cheap. il make this test for you
It does the same rattling sound, also compared to my R6 without the lens and it does the same sound. I was worried first but once yo attach a battery and a lens it fades.
Beautiful camera and great video! I am currently having a 6D Mark II, is it worth an upgrade overall? I really love the faster continuous shooting, especially I am quite into bird photography recently, but is it a major drawback on the R6 Mark II with a lower sensor resolution? 6D Mark II has 26MP while R6 Mark II has 24.2MP.
If you love photography and/or video and will continue doing it for yrs then you will eventually will want to move to mirrorless. 6d mark ii is an excellent camera but R6 mark ii is better with autofocus. It will not overheat in video and you have unlimited recording time. The menu and features will be better. You may not need to switch today, but eventually. The good news you can adapt all your EF lenses on it.

Are most folks keeping the original R6 ? My local online used market has been flooded with R6 bodies in the last week. Not sure how I can sell mine since the price is dropping fast. I dont need to have two R6's just an R6 two.
I got mine yesterday. I love the overall feel already! I put my 28-70 on it in the store lol. I still have 1 of my R6 mk I tho until I get more familiar with this Mk II. Nice vid 👍🏾
Thank you! I spent time trying to replicate my C1 from my mark I to Mark II. Had fun updating the Custom for video, which we didn't have on the Mark !

I am going to use a Tamron 28-70 f2.8 g2 instead of the much expensive Canon EF
@@tangobase7 That’s also a good option. EF glass is very affordable with an RF adapter, but really it’s whatever gets the shot! 🙌🏾👍🏾
Pre ordered mine the morning after the November 2nd announcement from B&H it shipped on the date promised and received today. I'm in North Central Ohio. If that matters lol

From what I'm hearing the sound is normal. You will love the camera. Shot over 4hrs in 4k continuous and no sign or warning of overheating.

Got it yesterday. Awesome camera! The most annoying thing though (coming from the EOS R) is the way we have to open the LCD. ..
Let me know if you are also scratching your left index finger at the wrong place on the closed LCD as well 😂
That's funny you say that. I was a EOS R user and had the very same thought when I went to the R6 mark I. It's now second nature so I forgot about the change. My problem is I'm on day 3 and I keep forgetting to turn it off because of the new placement so I'm burning through batteries.
I just got mine today and I’m coming from the EOS R as well. I didn’t notice the difference in how you open the LCD. 🤔
@@lisaspics1127 Really? On the R I open it with my left index finger at the top right. As for the R6MII I have to use my left thumb at the bottom right.

when i unboxed my r6mii, i noticed a sound from inside the camera which sounded something like there is a loose fitting inside the camera. Is it a normal?
I'm guessing that is the ibis. Does it go away when the camera is on? If so, that's normal.
How you finding the IBIS for video? Any visible distortion? Got my R6ii and the distortion is absolutely wild. Ruins 99% of my shots.
On the 15-35mm at 15mm hand held it is not good. I us a gimble and it's all about how you move. 20mm and longer the ibis cleans up a lot. You can do electronic IS with ibis and then it's great but I prefer doing that in davinci resolve.

That's the IBIS shaking. If you turn it on, it should go away

I just got mine yesterday and I was very concern about that rattle and didn't even know what it was(first time having ibis). So is it completely normal?? Did you keep that camera? Does it work how it's supposed to??
It's normal and I have been loving it. Check out some more of my vids with it.
I understand the R6 MK2 can shoot full frame in all of the 4K 24, 30 and 60 FPS, but will it shoot in the 4K 24, 30, and 60 FPS in APS-C crop mode with EF-S lenses? Is the crop mode user selectable when using full frame lenses?
Just tested it. On full frame RF it does not allow you to crop to the 1.6, but with my 18-150 RF-S it automatically crops 1.6 and works on all recording modes. Obviously, you wont get oversampled 6k since it's cropped, but it does look good.

Hi! Could you please tell if you R6’s still make slight rattling noises when turned on? I knocked mine, started checking it and I am worried about the slight rattling sound when ON. Do not remember it before.

I remember panasonics were and are notorious for the rattle too. Would be nice if they implemented some sort of lock when off but as long as it doesn't damage anything, I'm good and I generally don't shake the crap out of my cameras...but travel could be an issue.
The travel thought was in my head too with all the shaking in my car.
Just got mine instantly called canon for a return after watching this video I got a little peace but I'm still annoyed definitely sounds cheap
@@KoolWooDidIt I wouldn’t worry about it too much. I’ve been doing a lot of shoots with the camera and it’s been absolutely 100% reliable.
The rattle could just be the IBIS… when you turn it on that’ll go away

Mine makes that sound also just as everyone is saying.
One thing I've noticed, not sure if it's my copy or not. I am sometimes getting rejected batteries when swapping and quickly booting up. Some Err 80, some counterfeit battery warnings.

@Visible Tour I actually have with my Canon LPE6N from my EOS R, but with my third party LPE6NH as well. Doesn't happen everytime, but it is happening.
I just called them and they said it shouldn't be happening. Once it accepts the battery it functions fine, but it could be defective (yay!).
I may wait if they can't do a clean exchange right away. Since demand is so high there's no way to guarantee a quick swap and I have a year on standard warranty.
Tempted to see if others have the issue and it could be firmware related.
Shockingly... BH has stock and I'm in NYC so I'm doing a clean exchange.
Will update you if you're interested once I arrive home with my new R6 Mk.ii..... Mk.ii (hah!)
I did my clean exchange. My original copy of the camera was definitely a dud! No issues whatsoever with my new copy. Shocked that I won the dud lottery, grateful B&H had stock and was able to quickly exchange!
Does one work with the rf 100-500 mm on this R6 Mark Ii?
I have the 100-500 but I have not used it on my MK II yet. Considering it is an RF lens it should work well with MK II
That is a lens I would love, but have not had a good excuse to get it.

You didn't watch that video did you? 😉 I cancelled from B&H and pre ordered at my local store. That video was about buying local because there are more in stock for pre orders at local stores.
Yes, they all have the same sound. once you set the lens there is no more sound.
What do you mean by setting the lens? I had my 70-200 2.8 on my r6 mk II and it still rattles when shaken and off.

If you come from the R6 it's a noticeable sound in the IBIS moving around, but apparently it is normal and not a concern. I just released my photo quality video this morning and that is the one that should help you make a decision. HUGE difference in photo quality.
You are going to damage your IBIS, stop shaking it....duh.... Turn it on, let it engage...

Kept it. It seems to be normal for the r6ii. Been working great.
