Still no mention of replacing the points and adjusting. Pretty much top of the list when rehabbing the electrics. If you've marked the distributor position pull it and fit the points on the bench, by far the easiest way to do it. At least measure the gap and adjust if needed. Dab of grease on the cam. The diaphragm is the accelerator pump which gives a squirt of gas when you hit the throttle pedal. You can fit Pertronix electronic ignition but save your money for more important things at this time.
Go big and install a couple of Weber DCOE side drafts. Also pertronix ignition kits are a very good option to bring the old distributor back to life. An MSD blaster 2 coil will also give you very good spark. Also consider MSD 6AL ignition box. Good luck with this swet project. M10 forever!
Thanks for the tips Isaac, our main goal is to get it running good. But all those mods sound frickin sweet, can't wait to start modding, especially the side drafts!!! Thanks for watching!
PNW Project you're welcome. If you decide to go for it and need some advice you can ping me as I did that project myself with my E30 with M10 engine. You can find some videos in my channel. Keep up the good work!!
I see alot of posts asking why old cars require premium gas. Its because they made very high compression engines back then, and did not require forced induction to make her eat !
If you're worried about old school points you can upgrade to a petronrix ignitor, or just get a whole kit from racetep. That would be the easiest way to get a reliable, maintenance free ignition system, they also claims to provide better spark too (especially at certain RPM). More expensive route but probably worth it based on reviews I've heard
I realy like this project, the 2002 is one of the worlds raerest cars, good jobb keep it up
hey guys! good to know that the project still on. Cheers from Chile!
Patricio Ortega Yes, lots of stuff coming up!

Deluk Yup, that’s on the to do list. Adjusting valves and adjusting the points are next on the list.

Isaac any issues with jetting / tuning for the Weber DCOE side drafts? I am looking at these cars (aka, don't have one yet!) and gathering info.

Great vid! My Weber carb (brand new) also dumps too much fuel in the manifold, I hope you find a solution it would help me a lot.

What steering wheel goes well in your E10
