I do love all your reviews on Sonlight! I’m also glad you have your honest reviews and don’t sing 100% of your praises for Sonlight, it makes your reviews really honest and I think it holds more weight. No curriculum is perfect so I always have a hard time when a RUclipsr never has cons about a loved curriculum. So thank you! We will be using Sonlight again next year and I really do love their books!

We used Bookshark History C this year with my 7 yr old 2nd grader. They are very similar to Sonlight so I always love seeing your reviews. We read many of the same books as you. It was our first year using Bookshark and we loved it. We are adding Science and language arts next year. I'm glad you're kiddos enjoyed their material as well.

You sparked our interest for sonlight and we love it!
What do you plan to do when your son outgrows the readers?

Also, my 8 year old is going to start HBL B in the fall and can’t wait to start reading the level 3 readers. She wants to start them now!

Thank you for this incredibly helpful review! Maybe I missed it, but did you have thoughts on the poetry for HBL C? Correct me if I'm wrong, but was this past year the first year that Sonlight included the expanded poetry notes in the IG? I was just curious if you found them helpful as I have not reached that level yet. It is always so helpful to hear your thoughts, reflections, and reviews. Thank you so much, Angie! ❤

I used them sometimes, but mostly we just read the poetry!

Hi, I was just wondering about the book a child’s history of the world…. I have purchased an old Sonlight program B for 6-8 year olds. My son will be turning 7 in December. Is that book easy to understand for his age. What’s your opinion? Many thanks!

I picked up Crain’s *How to talk to your kids About God,” and felt the same way. My kids did understand it, but I felt like J Warner Wallace’s kids apologetics books and the kids versions of Lee Strobel’s “Case For” books were more age appropriate. I do love that Sonlight is incorporating apologetics into the curriculum though!

I was looking at BYL reviews and came across your sonlight videos. Im not religious, but the books and the way things are set up in sonlight definitely look like something I want to do for History and Literature. Not to mention I just want to have everything on hand since it'd be my first time homeschooling. My kids have not yet hit kindergarden but I'm looking into the future. You also sound so enthusiastic in your reviews that it's contagious 😅 Is it possible to just not use the bible study portion and it can be neutral/secular? Ive looked at bookshark but I keep hearing how dry and boring it is.

The aspects of Sonlight that make it religious are the bible, notes in the IG, as well as some missionary books!
