For a 900 ranked player, Popeye played a very good game. Not the strongest economy - but he made the most effective use of it by a fair margin, fighting both a good ground game as well as getting a Novak up very early (1st experimental @ 29:25) for scouting *and* opening up an early lead in artillery that put Team 1 squarely on their back foot.
very much so, about the only big mistake he made early was the T2 assaults on that firebase, basically just mass donos since they could never hold what they killed it would just get re-occupied by team 1. The early novax and then the dukes were essential tho, also its always good when someone remembers to build SMD early enough that it already had 2 in the magazine before the enemy team launches their first nuke.
KnowFear's first Mavor build is interrupted at about 42:25 when someone (Happysong I think?) appears to launch a telestrike on it with a teleport enabled support commander. You can hear the supcom explode at about 42:45, just as you finish your spiel about missing key events in the cast - I think we can forgive you this one however, there's no real lead up to the strike and it's barely noticeable even if you're looking for it on the minmap. :D
Honestly looked like a fun map, good offensive advantage on the top-left and defence advantage on bottom-right, I was half-expecting team 2 to go the long way round to bust team 1 when the southern players started turtling.
I feel like the center needs ramps from the lowlands up to the cliffs near the opposing bases, rather than those canyons just being totally dead space besides a couple resource options. If the only ramp up comes from the water, it gives too much advantage to Aeon/Seraphim. KnowFear was likely overloaded running basically the whole map at the time, but if he'd moved those cruisers up or to the east side and tried doing anything but trying to overwhelm the thickest clump of TMD, he probably could have punched through somewhere.
Man still watching your vids, when I had free time in between college classes would watch these. Thanks for making great entertainment! Been watching for about 5 years now keep it up!
I always love seeing those T3-4 arty and nuke wins. Other RTS games talk about making different strategies viable, but only SupCom has the guts to _actually do it._ To make it worth the risk of taking those resources off the front lines and trying to hold off a more powerful army with less, while you build a game-ender. And then to _also_ make it so that game-ender might not _actually_ end the game, if they defend well enough and you don't? Excellent.
37:06 He's not rushing his monkeylord out because there's a second one like 15 seconds behind it. Why throw your experimentals at the enemy defenses one at a time so they can be picked off when you can hit with both and take out the Novax centers? (Around 38:49 which went unnoticed. Later taken out by that cloud of T1 bombers.) EDIT: No, it's not the same monkeylord in 40:52, that's number 3 (on the middle ridge back when the two novax were taken out) showing why the first one waited for backup by not accomplishing much before the bomber cloud took it out. You already saw there were two monkeylords, did you just forget the second monkeylord existed seconds after talking about it the instant you saw the first one again?! 41:04 Rice hands over most of the economy right after monkeylord 3 is taken out, saying it was "extra income" for Fear (possibly to try to counter the air dominance of Song). He retained control of his SSBN, though. (The chicken fights over it for a while) 45:00 Normander drops out because his mouse broke (in chat). Also, it was the same chicken at 40:06 as 37:34 that had moved up because it can fire on things above the cliffs even if it can't get up there, itself. You can see it clear the cliff face at 38:57 (including SMD and partial fatboy) and start marching northwest to look for more targets. That was the same mavor that you could see in 41:28 and 43:15. At 42:42, you can hear an SACU explosion in the background (I was really confused when I heard it the first time, but couldn't see it, had to play back) - and it was damaged but not destroyed. The mavor just looks further south because he built a lot more shields around it. I think it must have been an SACU teleport by Song, because there's a light blue SACU icon down there at 42:25 and a bunch of projectile pips on the minimap. (Light blue on dark blue took some replaying to catch... Also, lol at Gyle saying "and if you'd like to see me miss things on a more regular basis" just as he misses a telesnipe on the mavor...) You can see the chicken fighting its way through the team 2 navy and front defense for a pretty long time - built at 44:47, goes in the water at 45:32, fights team 2's navy around 46:55, makes land around 49:15, near bottom left of screen. (Chicken went and stomped the mid-ridge base, too, and Rice warns schlongdis at 48:23, shadowing the chicken with the nuke boat.) A long battle ensued, fighting that chicken for a couple minutes I was seeing the little yellow projectile dots in that area, although it must have been pretty ineffectual whatever it was. Schlongdis didn't seem to notice, makes a "?" while Terarii is trying to tell him he's dying at 49:58. Schlongdis only seems to notice at 50:12 and barely moves to protect himself. (Although he did seem to move his own chicken back - you can also see that one near the mid at 49:15, but it has to go the long way around to get back up the cliff, was apparently leaving it there after fighting that crab of KpoBu's (talked about at 45:00 and then not shown on-screen again until it meets up with another crab and 2 fatboys at 51:23, had to rewatch this a few times to see what it was) on the cliff in the middle. Moved it after being prompted at 48:05 to use it by Terarii.) As an aside, after 52:30's fighter count, at 54:22 that air battle starts and KnowFear finally decisively wins the air battle thanks to Song throwing his airforce to engage over Know's SAMs (probably as a last hurrah). 43:34 It's not just the dukes doing damage, Popeye is doing significant defense, holding off those megaliths and fatboys with his percies. It would have helped if he'd expanded more when his teammates went down, but he really was juggling a lot (if not as much as KnowFear). You see a 2200 and 900 on the same team, and expect the 900 to get taken out early and then their team wins because the 2200 inherits the base and does more with it, but the opposite happened this time... Team 2 would have won this much more easily if they'd focused on the ACUs instead of the eco like team 1 did, though. They had ACUs unshielded and decided to leave the one guy carrying team 1 alone to go shoot up some power gens... Maybe they didn't pay attention, but the satellite was shooting him, so they definitely saw the guy...
I wish you could change colors for replays. Make it easier to differentiate teams especially when you got 2shades of the same color fighting on each other. Could make one team red-orange-yellow and the other team blue-purple. Or something like that.
I had no idea you were in Sussex I recently moved to East Sussex myself for my job and fell in love with this game about year or so ago, thanks to your videos. I am slowly persuading my friends to play it too Thankyou P.s if you ever want a fish tank or a pond hit me up 😉
Nice cast as always. You are the best Caster to listenm to. It really does sound like you do this for a living. Regarding the Patch notes: Whos idea was it to buff the best T2 Destroyer even further?
lol it was really funny when I thought "Yeah Gyle, it's not about plants, it's probably just a play on Ferrari" and then He goes on to say that it is Ferrari red :D
terrarii must feel bad dying to a 300 lower rank player who's apparently according to him trash, on top of being ranked low, man, wouldn't wanna be terrarii... dying to such a bad player (his words not mine, referring to the messages written in chat)
Arguably a pro team with a lot of players might consider ceding most of their economy to a couple of the rearguard players after the first ~10 min of economic buildout, while most of the combat units are transfered to the forward players, leaving them to micro rambo coms and armies without even considering economic APM. Meanwhile the rearguards would have massively boosted early economies that can virtually skip T2 and move almost immediately into T3 production at an early mark. This is sort of what happens when a forward player gets picked off early and their economy transfers to a high ranked rearguard player, making early snipes potentially counterproductive, esp on maps with lots of players, as you aren't really cutting into their APM much.
They cost a metric shitfuckington, and take some time to chew through shields. Paired with a rapid fire artillery (which also costs way more than a normal T3 arty), it's a deadly combo, for sure. But replenishing shields with assisting kennels or hives is a lot easier than replenishing SMDs, so yolona is rougher to defend against. With a yolona, you are literally on the clock to die.
i wish these guys would start playing matches with rules where theirs no +t3 artillery or game enders... it just immediately makes the match BORING as it just turns every game into 'who can get their static crap up first and defend it better' game... no i dont want to see that! i want to see EPIC clashes of battles and see warfare and massive air struggles. i want to see REAL battles decide a match with massive epic clashes. thats why i watch these. its what makes this game epic. these cheezy arty/game ender things just ruin all of it in the end to me.
Personally, I love them. To get that power they have to cede the frontline initiative and try to make the most out of less resources invested in combat while they build up for a significant period. Other RTS games talk the talk of making different strategies viable, but they don't have the guts to _actually do it_ on the macro level. Not like SupCom does. It makes it a hell of a lot more interesting to watch, imo.

51:00 props to Dorset for the wilhelm scream.
You're getting old Gyle! Missing the first spidey walking up all the way into light-purples base :P
well they are spooky stealthy spiders
LOL he missed two waking up into purple base and one into the yellow.
Gyle missing things is basically a time honored tradition at this point. I wouldn't want it any other way.

lol at Gyle missing the 2 spiders walking into Dorsets base at 38 mins.
I love how the second com kill on team 2 was just a chicken walking all the way through the water whilst being harrast by a soletary nuke sub 10/10
Little bit spoilery to be honest, but funny all the same.
@@ClnlBogey my apologies, gyle was very on point this game as per usual (great cast as always)
Just when I was wondering what to watch, this comes up in my notifications. Easy decision!
5 v 5s are always good can't wait to see what will come of it!

no adjacency bonus is only for your units
The game plays completely differently when Full Share is not on. Pretty neat to see that change in the game’s dynamics!
Big up County Dorset!!! I'm from there so he is now my fav player.
Your thumbnails are really beautiful! It catches my eyes every time!
36:32 Thank you for remembering to go back to production on the scoreboard after checking reclaim.
Nice cast as always. You are the best Caster to listenm to. It really does sound like you do this for a living.

Tactical Takeover is also an entertaining FAF caster.
Gyle how did you miss three freaking money lords walking up the coast into purple base?
Popeye on Haemorrhoids :D
you really got him there Gyle
Wait what? A game without full share? I haven't seen that in forever
34:05 ONE BOMBER. THATS ALL THAT LIVED. AND THATS ALL HE NEEDED. daaaayuuummm xD
Great timing mate, I was in the mood for some carnage. 😄
Watched this on FAF while listening to the cast. Get a video on that Chicken Rogue Exp. It was glorious!!!
lol it was really funny when I thought "Yeah Gyle, it's not about plants, it's probably just a play on Ferrari" and then He goes on to say that it is Ferrari red :D
red cybran player's name translates as "trousers in blood". Just FYI. Very important (:
I Can't wait for the new SupCom like Game to be out. It could help bring new people to the genre and probably help them discover this old perl.
terrarii must feel bad dying to a 300 lower rank player who's apparently according to him trash, on top of being ranked low, man, wouldn't wanna be terrarii... dying to such a bad player (his words not mine, referring to the messages written in chat)
Terrari loses because they slipped in situational awareness = calls other player trash
Mavor was kill by TP supcom :) it was visible on the minimap and there was a visible wreck on the screen when you returned with the camera :)
I heard haha
Tpycuku_B_KpoBu=Трусики в крови=Panties are covered in blood
Tpycuku_B_KpoBu is "panties in blood"
oh, today is going to be a good day
Woo Love the news ;)
Lol Shufty. Not heard that in a few years.
I'm so glad you said Dorset was the second best, with Cornwall being the first. If you said Devon was higher on the list there would have been a riot.
For the first time in about 13/14 videos. I finally picked the right team to win :')
Good sportsmanship this game.
the reddish map makes the yellow player colors look almost identical... can barely distinguish it xD
What's the reason the replay can't be rewound a little bit to catch missed action @~51:00 mark?
I think FAFreplays can't be rewinded :(
LUV U GYLE!!!!!!!
Where's the outube short Gyle!!
Did Gyle ever do a replay of this match to catch some of the stuff he missed? (Not blaming him for missing anything - He's only one dude).

3:36 its Russian thus pronounced closer to trusiki v krovi. It means "bloody undies."
wheres that youtube short gyle!!
gyle try to focus on chats as well. tererii was warning the pink serephim player, 50:06

@gyle - you're from sussex? Whereabouts? I'm from Hove
3:34 - in russian that means literally ''bloody pants".
Are you open to voice over work? Maybe audiobook??
Hope he wont miss any of the chapters in the book while reading it
Sir gyle, where are you? I am missing my weekly cast. 😂
Yas. Ching? Ka-ching!
Hey Gyle, is the thumbnail an AI-generated image?
The player colours are taking away from the game, since they are so confusing. Would suggest casters be able to change colours.

Man I hate standoff victories. So boring! If there's one thing I dislike about Supcom it's the power of long range (T3 and T4) artillery.
