I've found over and over that using no noise gate but instead just slapping nVidia noise filter in OBS is way better. That thing blocks out so much without the odd noise floor kicking in and out with noise gate.
followed this example, but mine sounds so low. I only get higher volume when raising the gain to about 65db which as you know brings in more noise. Am i missing something or did you just boost the volume in post?
Second time to watch this video. Having spending days watching on which dynamic mic is good…but for a conference calls or when gaming on weekends the podmic makes sense and potentially top 3-5 out there today. Should snatch one before any price adjustment happens. the go xlr mini is waiting for its company. Thanks for the video and the clear explanation of the eq and compressor.
I've had a constant buzz/humming sound in the background. I have to try an edit out when I do my edits. It doesn't seem like background noise, but more like static. I'm not sure if I'm hyper fixated on it because I listen back to it while I edit and notice it. When I'm done my videos I don't really notice it. I'm debating whether to take the noise gate off or not, right now mine is at -58 db any higher and it cuts off my voice.
Great video. It helped me alot in setting up my Podmic with XLR Mini. I did slight variation of this and it's awesome. Thanks and keep up the good work!
i have this, sounded good on my end from the “ hear myself” however mu friends said my mic sounded really bad and was like buzzing and like a ikea telephone
Awesome video, I recently ordered the rode podmic and did not know that i am going to need an interface, cables, and a stand. I wish had watched your video and looked below to select the bundle or a mic that I could plug into the computer as a new beginner. thanks for sharing.
Hey Jordan, excellent video. I’ve noticed you used similar settings for this and the SM7B, which are the two mics I’m currently trying to decide to buy. I also noticed that you used these settings for streaming video games, which include background noise that you’re compensating for with your settings. What about just podcasting? I have a gaming podcast, and we don’t use background game noises or anything; it’s just four guys talking to each other. Would you recommend these same settings? Or just keeping the noise gate off and the equalizer flat? Any tips would be appreciated. Thank you, and keep up the great work
Nice demo. Can you recomend me a smallest audio interface that i can self record karaoke (sound effect) in the currennt market. I lije Yamaha AG03 but still big. I appreciate
Idk what’s going on but my mic works in discord but whenever I open the app the sound isn’t showing that the mic is connected . The godly also doesn’t change anything with the mic
Is it possible to not have to use the front headphone port for a 3.5mm pair of headphones? I want to avoid having to use the front ports as it doesn’t suit my cable management, I tried the audio out port in the back of the mixer but the headphones didn’t get very loud
I,d like to know how to treat the game or music sound like an input on the GoXLR as well. The idea in this setup for me is Meditation podcasts and selecting the sound inputs and their respective volumes is very important. any help on that?
Do I need a mixer with the rode podmic. I was looking at it for a budget dynamic microphone but I don't want to spend an extra 150 dollars on a mixer. Also if I don't need it, could I get an xlr to usb cable and use it normally?
I see you're also using the Beyerdynamic DT990 pro. I'm thinking about buying the GoXLR mini and the Rode PodMic, while still using my DT990 pro but I'm afraid the GoXLR won't be able to power my headphones well. I'm currently using the Epos GSX 300 to power them, perhaps I can connect that to my GoXLR mini? Hopefully, someone can help me out here.
@@SlimJimmy916 I didn't end up buying it, but instead went for a Focusrite Scarlett Solo, which can power both my Rode PodMic and my DT990 Pro's. In the meantime, I've also upgraded to an Ifi Zen Dac v2 to power my new Sennheiser HD660S headphones, and I've kept the Scarlett for powering my Podmic. I suppose it would depend on the impedance you chose with your headphones. 32 and 80 Ohms should definitely be fine, but if you've got the 250 ohms version, I wouldn't dare to say. In any case, I'd just prefer to purchase a good AMP/DAC (like the Ifi Zen Dac v2), as it'll ensure good audio and I don't care much about the added features of the GO XLR Mini. Up to you though.
Nice video, I'm tring to sound better cause my voice it's too hight, my mic don't detecty my voice until 71-73 db, there is any other range apart of the 100 u mentioned in the video I shoud change ?
I've been watching a lot of your videos of weather to get the Yamaha mg10xu or the Mackie profx10v3 and I just want to get your opinion I plan to do some dual pc live streaming and some vocal recording, thank you
Is it possible to use the GoXLR Mini and record audio? I got the streaming setup down with 15 other videos on YT, but none seem to show details on recording audio. Help?
Do these settings work for women with a squeaky voice that yell a lot? My mic cuts out when I get really loud and I even use a limiter and a compressor
Hey great video! I was wondering why I'm getting a buzzing effect in my headset when messing around with Mic gate? specifically the Threshold and attenuation level. Any time I speak the buzzing is still happening and quite badly when i use the settings you had in those gate settings. I had to set the threshold to 38db and the attenuation to 80%. If you know how to fix this I'd be grateful. Cheers

I have bought the same kit 3 weeks ago for my online teaching and this is what I exactly needed.
After setting up my mic like you did here I have to say it sounds really tinny to me. Your EQ sounds so much better on my end.
why does this video not have more views man its so good
Very Helpful
I watch this every time I have to remake the setting on my GOXLR Mini, thanks.

2:45 wow.. what testing have you done? I have to crank up the input gain almost to Max without the cloud lifter. You absolutely need one for this mic.

hey you can also make a setup for goxlr mini and rode procaster

For the gate what would be good for a louder environment.
Justamente el video que buscaba y muy bien explicado. Muchas gracias!
Great video! Just checking, apparently the GoXLR isn't supported on Mac's. I'm assuming you're using Windows on your Mac via bootcamp?
Yes! That's correct. If you really want to do streaming on the Mac, I recommend the Yamaha AG06 or using bootcamp.

Hi im late to this vid but would you recommend me buying a shure mv7 and using it with USB, or buying a a rode pod mic with the goxlr mini?
use a Douk Audio U3 Mini in combination with the goXLR Mini for the headset (its a life changer)

With the same equipment and the same distance to the microphone, I need 67 dB, not 56.
Is the interface gain enough for the mic?

Will this work just to chat with friends in game? All I see is streaming and podcast setups and I honestly don’t want to use crappy headset mics
Yes, it will work really well for that.
I can still hear buzzing and background noise
Are the 250ohm headphones you are wearing getting enough juice from the go xlr mini while using the podmic?
Everything is turned up to 100% and I'm happy with it. There isn't any headroom if I wanted it louder, but overall I'm happy with this combo.

Might be a dumb question, but would those settings work well in recording games instead of live streaming?
Yeah, for sure.
