There are far worse prisons in the USA today, and elsewhere in the so-called 'developed world' than this place ever was. To me, if we as a society choose not to kill offenders for the worst crimes then we have a duty not to compound delinquency with cruelty. It doesn't work. We must therefore reform our whole idea of incarceration so that brutality is replaced with education and despair is replaced with productivity. Doing time should mean service, in whatever form, so criminals pay their way.

I think they should reopen it as a maximum security prison, so criminals would think twisce to commit crimes such murders sexual assaults, pedophilia, gangsters treating them like the scumbags they are, with no rights except the right to be treated cruelly with no humanity, like the lack of conscience they show towards their victims!! HUMAN RIGHTS ORGANIZATIONS ARE CRIMINAL!

Most of the things I've read don't really coincide with some of this information. I've read a couple books and some of the things that were different: Convicts did receive recreation time on weekends and some working convicts, if their job permitted, received yard time during the weekdays. Also, I read that convicts weren't usually put it the Hole cells for more than 2 days. I also never heard anything about moving to isolation from there, then 3 months of grade 3 before moving up to 2, etc.

The right question to ask. Is it true that there had been several escape attempts but know one was known to have made it?
