Whenever I drive with my boyfriend in the car at night he ALWAYS rolls up the windows because he gets scared that someone is going to attack him at a stop light threatening to inject him with heroin- I always thought it was the weirdest thing and tried to look up instances of this happening MULTIPLE times and never found anything or heard anyone even mentioning it until Shane did. I think someone needs to define a new phobia.
Jestereux I had that fear when I was young because we lived near a playground where junkies would shoot up and there were needles everywhere the next morning. Like somebody would attack me and then I would be hooked on heroin.
@Gargee Basak lol he is right tho... that is pretty ridiculous and isnt how it works. And good luck getting an addict to share his drugs with his friends let alone a stranger in a car or anywhere
actually, a phobia is defined as being an unrealistic/irrational fear. so shane's fear of being stabbed with a heroin needle is more phobia-esque than ryan's fear of bears.
“Irrational” as in, it consumes a persons every day life. like, people with specific phobias will be affected by that fear day to day. technically, neither of them have a real phobia lol
@@jillianc7485 you're describing "obsessive". Irrational means it affects you when you have no logical reason to be afraid. Being afraid of getting injected with heroin is not an irrational fear if you're surrounded by extremely vindictive heroin dealers. Fear of bears is irrational if you're in the Pacific Ocean.
It took me awhile to realize why the story of Natalie Wood's drowning was so familiar, but then I saw the last few words of Horsley's story: "sleep walking." Back in the mid 2000s, my cousin went on a trip with her friends to Santa Catalina Island. The plan was to sleep overnight in the boat of a friend and then hang out and explore the island the next day. After everyone fell asleep, one of my cousin's friends woke up in the middle of the night due to having a "strange feeling." When she woke up, she discovered that my cousin was missing and woke everyone else up. They all went out onto the deck of the boat to look for her and found her *in her pajamas and coat, about to walk off of the edge of the boat.* The girl that had woken up with a weird feeling was able to grab her before she fell overboard. My cousin doesn't remember any of this believes that she had been *sleep walking*, something that she had never done before. To add to the creepiness of my cousin being found about to step off a boat in the middle of the night while wearing _the exact same clothes as Natalie Wood_, it also turns out that this had all happened _in the spot where Natalie's body was found._ I wish that I had been able to remember all of this sooner as I feel both Shane's and Ryan's comments and theories about this story and how it relates to Natalie's would be interesting to hear.
I can confirm most phobias aren’t rational because I’m terribly afraid of people on stilts and rats to the point where I have run away screaming from both rats and people on stilts
Fear of something doesn’t automatically mean its a phobia. A phobia is an EXTREME fear. Its a type of anxiety disorder, and part of the mandatory qualification for something to be a disorder is that it causes dysfunction- basically interferes with one’s life. I am afraid of spiders and most bugs, but I’m not PHOBIC- I can still force myself to deal with them if they get in my home, and I remain relatively calm when thinking about or seeing them. My coworker is arachnophobic- she sees a PICTURE of a spider and she screams and runs away, and if there’s an actual spider near her she will break down sobbing and screaming. Even imagining spiders near her (a step of imaginal systematic desensitization) is upsetting to her. If she is recounting an encounter with a spider, she is clearly uncomfortable. Shane has a FEAR of being forced to take heroine, but he does not have a phobia. Hence why no one can find a phobia fitting that description.
As much as 10 percent of people suffer from a phobia called trypanophobia, which is a fear of needles and injections. could be a mix of a couple of phobias
Actually, I think Shane might have Pharmacophobia, which is generally considered to be the fear of medicine, but can also be the fear of drugs or becoming a drug addict.
MissGlamBAM not really because how would that explain why she had on a jacket when she was supposed to be sleeping? How would she know to put on a jacket to go outside?
Perhaps it's just a habit. she might put on morning gown when she woke up at home so she put on the jacket and wander her way out of the room. Some people would drive or cook during sleepwalking so putting on a jacket seems very possible.

I feel like with Natalie, she had a terrible fear of water, but was also brave and able to challenge her fear. She swam in 'Splendor in the Grass' and was thrown into a pool in another film, plus she regularly went onto that yacht before she died. I also don't know how true this is because I saw it in a biopic of her life, but a friend of natalie's helped her face her fear of water by teaching her to swim in a pool and travel with her on an airplane because she was also apparently scared of flying ♡

also,, why is ryan so worried about bears? i understand the fear, the thought of a big animal with claws and the ability to brutally end you is scary, but california isn't very threatened by them and when he's traveling, he's constantly with people. besides that, most bears don't intend to hurt people unless the people intend to hurt them, with the exception of grizzly bears, who really just want everyone to die. i don know but it seems like if he's going to spend time worrying about them, he should research defense mechanisms and buy himself some bear spray. since we're in alaska, we always bring a can just incase. 🤷🏻♀️💗
ruby atarah At this point I think it's more of a running gag. They probably play the fear up for laughter. On the other hand, not knowing what to do in the event of a bear attack (and not even knowing about bear spray), can make a situation seem much scarier.
