Probably your most important video to date. I do believe that there is a portion of raw vegans that definitely feel superior to 'ordinary' vegans. "Look at how amazing we are" type mentality. For me personally, raw vegan makes me obsess about food in an unhealthy way. By eating a mix of raw and cooked, it removes the deprivation feeling. I feel for some its all about the label versus health. You just need to watch vegan deterioration videos to see that quite clearly! A lot of long term raw vegans are reintroducing cooked food. The queen of raw Cara Brotman has recently admitted that she has added cooked food to her diet as she was too skinny and unable to put muscle on despite going to the gym regularly. I admire people like her and you that are transparent and tell it as it is regardless of losing a particular identity. Good for you and heres to a productive and healthy 2024!

@bekind1966 , agree with your comment!! Goal = Vegan. However you are achieving being or becoming vegan is up to each person. I appreciate the transparency as well because I am looking for the inspiration here on youtube. When I am inspired, I can help others. I made a comment about how I thought Cara was all raw, and you'd think I was in a shark tank when people came out to defend her. I was just saying like wow, thought she was raw- how they been portraying it- good info tho, you do you, however you do you just here for the vegan inspo. Was not knocking the non 110 % raw. I've been sick along with my family (5 of us) for 2 weeks and haven't touched a smoothie or a salad after 3 months raw, lots Cracker and canned soup. 🙃 gosh, I'm human, yet still vegan 💓

After being WFPB for a few years, I recently felt the pull to eat more raw. I've found it fun and it feels good. I'm still allowing myself some cooked foods, but I do enjoy the challenge of trying to be more "high raw" than I used to be. I bought a dehydrator, juicer, spiralizer, vitamix - all things I never used as an ordinary WFPB vegan. I've noticed it can be pricier for sure. And requires more planning, for sure. But it's worth it, I'm sure. I'm doing a nice creative mix of live/raw + cooked like beans (my fave), some veggies, I may do some grains here or there. But also a nice lot of raw recipes, which are yummy and creative and leave me feeling awesome! I just found your channel, love it! thanks!!!

Good insights and transparency👏I've been vegan 8 years, which has progressively gone to more and more raw foods along the way. Currently working towards only including things like: beans, sweet taters, steamed veg, quinoa... that sort of "cleanly cooked whole foods" side of things. I definitely see the benefits of 100% raw, but that doesn't mean 90% isn't also amazing. Little things like the occasional chips and bread are my last things to go😳but at the same time, I don't beat myself up about it. I've GRADUALLY over 8 years continuously cleaned my diet and workout A LOT, so the extra calories, don't hurt as much as they might for some 😂It's really ok for us to accept that we don't have to do things in this "perfect" way. Purely ego driven rubbish! Just stay aware and keep moving forward. Being on the path is the important thing, not getting to some imaginary end✌🧝🌴😁Happy New Year!

Love how real this is. I was fully raw about 10 years ago. Felt amazing for a while, but then my body felt like it needed the addition of more grounding foods. It's hard to incorporate them without feeling like you are starting to 'lose control' (not a healthy mind-set). If anyone is thinking of joining Eva's coaching program, I can thoroughly recommend. She is one of the most supportive, kind, genuine, open-minded coaches out there. When I had a one-to-one with her, she gave me some solid advice, which has helped me enormously.

This sounds perfect. You are such a beautiful soul. I wish you all the happiness and letting go of all the perfection and isolation. It is so interesting! I was vegan 4 years ago for 2 years and 6 month high raw. I used to watch your videos all the time back then and I can relate to all the pros and cons that you described. Feeling isolated, feeling self righteous, feeling like my identity was all about raw vegan, making it an idol essentially, and also thinking I was an expert. But when I went traveling to mexico and especially after joining a retreat there where they did not cater to any special diet, I was forced to choose to stay and eat what they served or leave. I chose to eat what they served (meat, dairy, everything) and I went back to eating everything for 2 years. My self righteous vegan ego took a huge hit. When I was high raw vegan, I still got covid! I lost a lot of hair! And that was very humbling to my ego thinking I was superwoman who couldn’t get sick! Two years later, now recently I have been guided to go back slowly to vegan and the raw vegan thing is creeping up too. When I’m at home, this way of eating feels great. But when I am too strict and obsessive with it, it becomes like a mental prison and an identity. This time I am asked to drop the judgment and perfectionism around it. It also feels very humbling the fact that I went back to eating meat and now coming back to veganism, I have no right to judge or look down on anyone. Who knows what can happen tomorrow? I don’t have the right to judge anyone considering my own path- and I believe this happened for a reason. It is much worse to be a perfect raw vegan but totally judgmental than to eat meat and not judge at all. I’m doing my best at the moment but if I eat something here and there that is not according to the “rule book,” I am no longer going to kill myself about it. It is only the ego that beats us up and is so hard on ourselves. Self compassion and compassion to all is most important. I don’t even call myself vegan or anything anymore. I just eat a certain way at home and outside and see what happens…

Ive done a few forms of raw. From high fat which left me spacey and tired, to 801010 which left me constantly feeling unsatisfied and less emotionally stable with energy swings. Im now doing Dr Brooke Goldners way to heal chronic disease and although its a bit too high in fat, I see how a diet higher in fat and protein, but without eliminating fruit, feels the best for me. I do feel better having just a touch of cooked starch though in the evening but for now I need to be all raw. But now my goal is to just be healthy not any dogma or label.

I am a bit of an extremest, and watching this was very healthy for me and my ego. so again thank you, I look forward to watching more of your videos, your light is VERY BRIGHT, I love you. I do wonder if having raw quinoa, beans, and forbidden black rice SOAKED better for you than cooked? I also learned that you can cut a sweet potato and a purple potato raw as well, why not eat those raw,? are there different benefits that happen when cooked? There is so much i get to learn, super grateful!

      Hi!
Thanks so much for the love, I really appreciate it.
I have a video coming out tomorrow with Dr Areli and we go over our reasons for adding coooked to our raw diets. Personally, yes, I could eat those foods you mention raw -and I did - but it just wasn't enough for my current needs. There's only so much sprouted quinoa one can eat, or sprouted lentils, before getting a little sick of it. I really only could do a few spoonfulls of sprouts vs 1 1/2 cup of cooked lentils. With cooked, I can add more calories, a little more bulk and more protein without upping my fat. Hope that answers your question. Thanks for watching!

I need to not overeat cooked food. I am 64 and the amount of calories I require is much lower now. Losing weight on 1300-1400 was almost non existent. Refreshing Eva! You have spoke about quite a few elephants in the room in this lifestyle no one wants to address with honesty which I apprecite. I do believe the fruit ratio is unbalanced & I too am struggling to get even 2,000 calories without stuffing myself to the brim & beyond, I don't like the huge volumes of food, I don't like the constant eating all day with few breaks inbetween. I lately am craving more veggies, its very hot here atm, hottest summer i experienced, but I am slowly getting sick of bananas. it is a lot of work, & travelling it is even more work, i don't feel fruit alone sustains us. therers so many beautiful gifts on this lifestyle but i have been toying with the idea of quinoa, purely for the calories, as bananas & dates seem to be the main source only. it's different to get the calories when protein & fats are low. I do notice if I eat too much fat i experience swelling in my face the next day & feel shit. Do you still eat low fat or did you body stop having adverse reactions? And yes in the beginning years ago i did the fruit juice & i do believe it is a drug also, many don't make the connection the candida & more are symptoms not detox. anyways it was lovely to watch an honest approach, as i also want to build more muscle & eat more calories but not from huge amounts of fruit. so many dont talk about this, they say just eat enough calories ignoring that hemp seeds is the only plant source that has all 9. you are also the only one who said about the protein and bananas which i noticed too, yes ther's protein when you eat enough of it. anyways my comment is so long, thanks for your honesty & its nice to meet another humble one on the journey who has been round the circle a few times & back again, much love

    • @EvaTheRawFoodCoach
      @EvaTheRawFoodCoach  5 месяцев назад

You're so sweet! Thanks so much for your comment, I enjoyed reading it! You are right on, follow your intuition. This lifestyle and its gurus are full of it. No one's really sharing what they're truly eating, many are secretly eating cooked food so please take what you see here on YT with a grain of salt and don't think for a moment many people are actually thriving on an all raw diet long term, because they're not. Very few actually are. Otherwise, where are all the old raw foodists? They're dying at the same rate as everyone else, they're aging at the same rate as everyone else too. Eat plenty of protein as you age, that'd be my advice unless you want to end up completely muscle-less and frail, sarcopenia is no joke. Eat the quinoa, the beans, the tempeh. High-sugar diets are aging. Good luck to you!

Yes, Eva, Yes. Self-realisations. And also allowing the female in particular body to change and have different needs, our poop says so much and I agree, can be a little too wet and damp rather than a clean elimination, thanks for sharing. Fibre has been a thing for me, as much fruit and veg raw etc, some cooked squash has been a game changer for me. And rare buckwheat noodles, as it's helping my body strengthen now I'm there into my 50's. Mindset with what we ingest is big, if you believe something cooked will kill your energy levels then it will. But in reality, it won't, you just graduate your body education into more diversity. After all, I use a lot of elders in my community as examples, into their 80s and 90s and still mind sharp and active and not one is raw.

Love your videos. Thank you for all the great info.
I’m 44 and most likely been in perimenopause for last year or so maybe more. Didn’t connect the dots!
I’ve been raw since last December so about 15 months. Felt amazing for about 6-7 months then developed sinus for first time nasal congestion headaches brain fog. I’m seeing a clinical nutritionist who is very supportive of my raw diet. She suspects histamine intolerance most likely brought on by fluctuating hormones alongside high histamine foods. We are working to get back into balance and doing some gut healing. Did you or anyone else experience this type of thing? I’m now wondering if it wasn’t good time to go raw with everything else happening hormonally.
    Thank so much

Definitely for me, it’s about wanting (within the Vegan paradigm) to be healthy.
What I so value about you dear Eva is the willingness you have to share what has been working and what you have discovered along your journey.
I must admit that in the past I was very dogmatic and judgmental and felt miserable. I went through a period as a result of noticing how my rigidity was hurting myself and the ones I loved where I just ate what I wanted following no food rules whatsoever. Now I am trying to seek a healthy balance while allowing my loved ones to be exactly who they are and to choose to eat whatever feels good for them. The social struggle is huge and sometimes the hurdles are too big to circumvent and I wind up succumbing to peer pressure. This path, let alone just simply being Vegan is not for the faint of heart. ❤️

Yes, it did. We had to navigate this and it was hard for him. Thankfully, I have a very supportive husband. And very understanding!

Fully raw and even high raw is not law. High carb and low fat is law. 20% of calories from fat should be the maximum, and 10% or less is ideal. A very high cooked diet that is 1-10% is certainly healthier than a fully raw or high raw diet where more than 20% of the calories are coming from fat. The ideal diet has no overt fats at all, meaning zero nuts, seeds, avocados, olives, cacao, and all bottled oils.

You should see Dr Brooke Goldners results for all the people she has cured of “incurable” chronic diseases with her all raw diet which is fairly high in fat, ,mostly from Flax/chia seeds. Her diet is amazing! The no overts did me a lot of harm.

When one has "all the answers" is easy to make such statements. I wish you lots of luck, sincerely.

Results though speak. Dr. Brooke Goldner is now published in peer reviewed evidence journals on how her fully raw diet reversed severe, chronic lupus nephritis where her life expectancy was short. She is now fully recovered and did so on a very high fat diet with lots of freshly ground, raw flax seed and avocados plus lots of cruciferous and some dark leafies like spinach, 100% raw, very little to no fruit and no cooked foods. She has replicated these results over and over again for many chronic diseases thought incurable. And I can attest with my own chronic pain that until I went 100% raw the pain did not stop. Your comments though are very arrogant and ignorant and without any evidence based science. I know many people following that diet and within 8 yrs they leave. Some ironically much sooner due to extreme weight gain. Or due to the fact they lose their periods due to the low fat content or chronic hunger. But omega 3s are needed for cellular repair and your comment is reflected in your ignorance on nutrition. Im sure it works for some very active YOUNG people but certainly you dont see older people following this diet lol. You can get away with a lot of poor nutrition in your 20s and 30s but that stops as you age and you will pay the consequences.

I'm trying to understand this... you cure yourself of health problems through raw food and once you're healthy again you allow yourself the food that contributed to the health problem again... I thought that raw food was a forever lifestyle and not just a temporary cure or "healing journey" as you call it🧐

Look at it this way: You're sick and you heal with raw food. Once you're healed, I don't see a reason to continue taking the "medicine". I didn't get sick eating whole foods, cooked veggies and beans. I got sick not eating enough fruits and veggies AND eating processed crap, which I still don't eat. I'm on a maintenance diet, that's all.

@@EvaTheRawFoodCoach To each their own, of course. But to think that everything was just a transition and that you were hoping for healing so that you could then have the cooked "pleasures" again still makes me a little sad. Especially since you didn't communicate this in this way during the 100% raw food phase.

Your feelings are your responsibility. You’re just bummed the social “proof” I provided that this diet works is no longer. Since staying on this lifestyle long term is uncommon, you’re upset I’ve defected and abandoned ship, so to speak. You’ll probably do the same one day, give it time. Maybe not while you’re young, virtue signaling and completely brain washed but you’ll get there when your muscles are gone and your receding hairline can no longer be ignored.
Good luck to you, and I mean that sincerely.

@@derlachendevagabund7942 It is always my hope that a comment such as yours would encourage a dialogue that helps us learn from eachother’s experience. I appreciate you sharing that it made you ‘a little sad’. When we make life decisions that are not mainstream we seek inspiration from others who do similar things. When they alter course it impacts us. Ideally we support and learn from each other and we can be honest about the impact others do have on us. All
this is always about more than just a way of eating- it’s about connection and shared values. Living on the marginalized edges of society can be really challenging- especially because we often live there out of a deep desire to show up more meaningfully in the world.
