I am a 33 year Chiefs fan from NY, and I hate to talk negative about them, but these teams cannot be allowed to hold cities and subsequently taxpayers hostage for these stadiums. Not only do they want taxpayers to foot the bill, they then stick it to the public again with higher ticket prices.

Businesses are closing down all around us because they can’t pay independence high taxes anymore. They want us to pay more taxes for stadium upgrades for a stadium we can’t even afford tickets to. While they are all making millions of dollars every year with million dollars homes while our cities struggling. Make it make sense.

It’s the same .625 of 1 cent per dollar it’s been forever. If they move even if it’s just the other side of the state line we are going to lose a lot more from all the taxes it generates. If they actually move the teams somewhere else that’s a lot of jobs lost. Plus all the jobs for building and renovating the stadiums. In the end if they do move it’s going to cost everyone who pays that 5/8 of one cent a lot more than 5/8 of 1 cent.
Clark was going to be putting up 300 million. He’s worth 2 billion dollars but that’s all his assets too. That’s 15% of his total worth. So that seems like a lot to me.

As a Jackson County voter, I have been to 1 game ever because My boss gave me his season tickets to a pre season game. Game tickets and parking are just not in the budget. We pretty much refer to them as the Johnson County Chiefs because that is the majority of the people at the games. Don't get me wrong, I love the chiefs. I watch every game. The royals can go F themselves. I want the funding to be separate. I'd vote for the chiefs every time but I will NEVER vote to move the royals to the crossroads and displace a bunch of small businesses. If the chiefs want to move to Kansas I'm down but the drawback is losing Arrowhead as one of our most important players. As far as RR goes, young and dumb. I hope he learns from it. I also know we need him and I wish he was mature enough to do the right thing like not driving like a dumb ass to start with. He is very lucky that it wasn't worse.

People want to live for free on the backs of others (slavery). "From each according to their ability to each according to their need" promotes involuntary servitude. Those who want Scandinavian style benefits don't want to pay for it as they do. You don't just lose the 3/8ths of 1 cent. You lose all game day revenue for local buisness. You lose taxes on player salaries for game day. They are going to lose far more than if they would have voted Yes.

I grew up in Kansas City and live in Dallas now. I will always support the Chiefs wherever they are. And quite frankly, I haven't been to a game in Kansas City since I moved to Dallas. I saw them in Houston and in Vegas since.
At the end of the day, it is about the egos on both sides. The Hunts are not the richest owners in the NFL and that is fine, and I don't think the royalties they have made off the Chiefs success in recent years can just be thrown in to build a new Stadium. It is $800 million in upgrades. A lot of the owners can't really afford that, even if they are billionaries. I really think the fans who are voting should take that into consideration. So the whole "billionaires can pay for their own stadium" is not really something the voters are thinkng through. I do think the Hunts have the decency to do whatever they can to keep the Chiefs in the KC Metro area. Florio and Simms are correct that Kansas City residents need to be careful. Because billionaires have power, and the Chiefs being a highly lucrative franchise - cities would be lining up to bring the Chiefs to their city.
If the vote goes to Johnson County, where I grew up in, I think they should vote "Yes". Because I think exploring cities outside the are of Kansas and Missouri would be a very likely reality for the Hunts if all the major counties in KC Metro vote "No". They should seriously learn form the Rams and the Raiders.

You need to do some research. The NFL charges $$$$$$ for teams to move. Washington Commanders asked to move from DC to VA and the league wants over $600mil for them to do it.
The Chiefs need to put together their own proposal without the Royals trying to ride their coattails. It was the ill will created by Sherman and the Royals and their last minute changes, along with both teams refusing to agree to a detailed community benefit package that torpedoed the vote. Both teams have created a lot of ill will with their “let me have my way or I’ll take my ball and leave” threats and continue to do so by doubling down on their toddler like behavior.
It’s sad that for all the loyalty that the people of Kansas City and surrounds have given them, even through decades of losing seasons, they’re prepared to abandon us after one loss.

As a former KCK resident, I was actually hoping the vote would pass in the beginning when I heard what it was going for. As soon as I heard the Royals say 'trust us' and they were fumbling around like they were trying to hide something, that's when I said 'oh hell no'. KCK would be more than willing to have the Chiefs, Hunt knows this, he's talked about it before. Johnson County has huge areas that are open and would be able to handle a large stadium complex. IF a move was imminent, I would say he'd rather move the team just a few miles down I-70 rather than uproot the entire organization to move even 1,000 miles.
Arrowhead is a beautiful stadium and if anyone has seen it in person, you know it's just breathtaking to be there. It's the loudest stadium in the league because of the design and the fans, it's the best smelling stadium in the league because of the tailgaters. There is a deep history there and it needs to be preserved. If Lamar and Norma were still with us, this would be a no-brainer, they would do whatever it takes to keep the Chiefs in Arrowhead and do it with the fans in mind. I'm not sure where or even why it went wrong when Clark took over and I don't really care, he needs to remember how much work Lamar put into the team and honor that legacy. He needs to open up his wallet, Lamar would have, without blinking an eye because he loved Kansas City and he loved his Chiefs.
There's still seven years until the lease is up, that's plenty of time to reorganize the thinking, be more transparent with what the money is going to be used for and make the deal happen. Truthfully, I would have liked to have seen the Royals and the Chiefs approach this way differently, separate initiatives if they could because our team is working hard on a 3peat. The Royals, while they are a solid team, isn't even close to a World Series run. The bread and butter right now is the Chiefs, plain and simple and the fans knows this. The Royals botching it up is more than likely what caused the voters to say no, I know I would have voted no, even though I'm a life-long fan of both teams. It would have hurt like hell, but I'm not voting 'yes' on anything where I couldn't get a straight answer from the Royals.

Right now, nobody, except the billionaire class you mentioned, is in a comfortable enough place to say "yay, OK" to increased taxes and government spending. The Chiefs really had no choice, given that the existing sales tax revenue is split 50-50 between the Chiefs and Royals through 2030. The Chiefs would have had to convince county and sports commision officials to add _separation language_ to *Question 1,* and they didn't want to make this mess any bigger and more complicated than it already was. The Royals were hoping to piggyback their relatively unpopular plans onto the positive attitudes they expected county voters to have about the Chiefs, because everyone knew that the Royals couldn't get anything passed on their own

oofff. The thought of the Chiefs moving to KS makes me want to vomit. At least they would be close. Its crazy to me that they would want to move, knowing the advantage they have at Arrowhead being one of the loudest stadiums in the league has contributed to their success in Kansas City. I don't think KS has it in them to produce that much noise. LOL jk.

All of these people threatening to move these franchises out of the community that has supported them for over 50 years are derelicts. This is not that hard. Separate the royals new stadium and an arrowhead . They are two different issues. These billionaire playboys could be actual leaders and come up with a full and complete plan, throw some of their own money behind the upgrades they want and come at us strait. This is Missouri. You have to show us!

I have been a Kansas City Missouri, Chiefs fan since I was 10 years old. Ride or die for 34 years. And if they leave that city and go somewhere else, I probably would just stop supporting and watching them all together. And that hurts to say because they have been a huge part of my life for almost its entirety, and the majority of my wardrobe is nothing but Kansas City Chiefs apparel. This is unbelievable that it’s getting to this point.
The Hunt family is worth $24.8 billion, billion, that’s with a “B“ and they are trying to make the case that they should not be footing the bill for at least half of what they want done, financially. How unbelievably selfish can you be…. we and that city have supported them since they got here over 50 years ago, and you’re just gonna threaten to walk away after finally becoming a dominant franchise? This is after they were absolutely horrible for the majority of my life, and we stuck by them, and you repay us by threatening to leave? unbelievable. As I’ve stated, I have been {Kc> 4 LyFe (something I’ve used for a signature), but for the first time ever they’ve got me rethinking this. Do the right thing Mr. Hunt don’t blow this. You will regret it. The majority of this leagues fans are not as loyal as we are, we have stuck by this franchise through all of its horrible decisions, up to 2017 when we finally turned it around, and now we are reaping the benefits of our diehard support and you’re gonna treat us this way? Such a sad, sad day in the Kingdom…

It's because mainly the royals warrant forthcoming about everything that was involved. They say it may cause them to move well. What they didn't let everybody know was was the backup location in North Kansas City and if the Chiefs had to leave they would just go out by the legends. They'd still being Kansas City so neither team are leaving Kansas City

What's even the problem with the Chiefs moving to the Kansas side? Both they and the Royals have effectively functioned as the joint pro teams for both Kansas and Missouri for decades, and they wouldn't even need to change the names because Kansas has a Kansas city too. Doesn't seem like there'd be much difference aside from the semantics of what state the team is legally in.
